  • Here is how to replace the battery on an electric bike. If you have an E bike with a dead battery, and you want to replace the battery inside of the battery case, it is possible to buy a replacement battery and put it in your existing case. This can save you some money, and it is easy to do. A new battery in a case can cost $100 more then a new battery on its own. In this video I show you how to open up your battery case, disconnect the old battery, and connect the new battery to the charging case so that you will have your old ebike battery case with a new battery. Watch this video to learn how to DIY replace the battery in an E bike.
Here's an example of a battery for sale. Make sure you find the right size and voltage:

This was great but you breezed over the most important and dangerous part: Attaching the wires !!! All of a sudden the battery was wired up !! You had me up to that point because it was clear and concise

I bought one 48v 20mah. It run fine for the first 25 miles with my 1000w kit. It still shows 2/5 bar before i charged it. The problem start from here. After finish charging, it no longer output voltage. Troubleshooting and open the whole thing out based on seller's instruction. No thing works. They sent new BMS but it did not help. They sent new battery as a replacemwnt but i had to pay $70 for shipping they claimed. It took almost 1 month to come. The big box finally arrived. It is the size of 5 batteries combine. The box got bitten up badly. No shipping foam or support materials in there. The battery probably bounced couple thousands time on the way. It got damage and scratches all over the place. Dusty as well. No more word to say. I dont think they want to do any business

I would be a little concerned about the quality of the battery cells. Samsung, Panasonic or LG or unbranded Chinese rubbish.

I purchased that same battery brand and I should warn you the charge port is the same as main power they use "common port" as the charge port is always live and if you accidently get anything that conducts electricity such as a drop of rain it will short circuit the battery exploding the charge port which has happened to me. It caused severe burns to my hand since it was near the charge port, splattered melted black charge port plastic all over the place. since there is no short-circuit protection on this battery or bms, it will explode or catch on fire. it took 8 or so seconds to burn through the live wires all over the connections until the wires just melted and stopped it from going up in flames. Just a word of caution. you maybe better off getting a battery with an actual charge port with a diode that stops accidental shorts from charge port.

Thank you man. Ive just started my daily life of using ebike and got worried in the future where the battery goes out on me so I searched all over the internet where to buy the removable battery. No luck on anything because I didnt know the thing was only a casing and to replace it, you needed to change the actual battery inside. Thanks for shedding my worries away in the future man.

Hi I am looking for a charger for an iride 1016c electric bike any suggestions? It does not have a 3 pin adapter for the charging port. Or do you have any suggestions for batteries. The bike is discontinued. PS Thank you for this tutorial also
