As a former referee, these are match penalites all day long. I ref'd for 15 years and called a grand total of four match penalties. One for a player spitting on another player, one for a player kicking another player and the third for a goalie being pulled for an extra skater and as the goalie was skating towards his bench and an opposing player straight-armed the goalie as he merely skated towards his bench. The 4th was a faceoff at teh end of a game well out of reach and the one centre didn't play the puck and just cross checked the other centre in the face.
Sadder thing is most "tough guys" who swings sticks barely drop the gloves and fight fairly when someone steps up to them. Thats why they swing the stick because they aint shit without it
They're what we call cowards. They should have to fight the best fighter on the other team, and the fight only ends when the good fighters' arms get tired from whaling on the guys face. It's just a thought.
@@aberamagold7509 im not entirely against that. getting 2 mins for basic slashing in game is one thing but most of these clips are fuckers axe swinging their shit like they are gimili from lord of the rings. Kids and parents should be charged and held responsible for this crap. Maybe even the refs because not taking control of the game you are officiating is usually what leads to this kind of behavior
Man I agree with everyone else. In the majority of clips shown, I sure hope the player getting attacked filed charges with the police, doesn't matter what age the player is. I know so many say it's one time, no one got hurt, whatever, but aggression at this level with a stick is not going to be a one time thing so shrugging it off just enables them to do it next time and maybe that person isn't so lucky. This could cause unknown levels of damage and can't be tolerated.
It was a one time thing for me. Did it once. Instantaneously regretted it and apologized. Went to the locker room after the game to apologize. Maybe I'm a once in a blue moon scenario but if no one is hurt why go out of your way to create unnecessary consequences to what is a valuable lesson?
There is absolutely no place in any level of hockey for this disgusting stick work. Those players should be ashamed of themselves and banned permanently and some should be arrested for assault.
Had this happen to me once. Thankfully just bounced off my helmet and ultimately didn't hurt me. This was right after he dove head first at my knees first. So after that didn't work he swung his stick at my head as I was trying to skate away. Guy was a real piece of work.
Played Hockey from 8 to 16... NEVER saw anyone swing a hockey stick like a weapon. NOT once... and there were wild games! It just never crossed out minds to whip our stick at someone's head or neck... or the back of any kind!!! Worst we had was the rare mostly accidental "spearing" and a handfull of "cross-checks."
on god like a little slash to the back of the leg is as far as it should go after that it should just be a fight no gloves the amount of out of pocket shit im seeing in these bush league ass games is sickening lmfao
These issues start at home. When I played midget hockey, I broke my stick on the ice and threw it against the boards after what I thought was a bad penalty call on me by the ref. After the game the first thing my dad said to me was "if you ever do something like that again you'll never play hockey again". Needless to say, I never did anything like that again.
I coached for over 20 years. If you used your stick or skates as a weapon you were taken out of the game and were off the team, no second chances. This was independent of any in game penalty or league penalty. Explained this to parents and players at the beginning of the season, never had any problems.
Played hockey from 5-45, including Junior and senior hockey, house leauge and beer league, seen some sucker punches, some questionable boarding and a couple nasty cross checks.....but never seen stick work like this, some of these axe chops are not only brutally gutless but need to be crimanal charged. Iduno, I guess it gos with the times and the generation's, in school we also used to settle differences with out fists, bloody nose cut lip, shake hands carry on, the last couple generations though want to settle things with knives or, two and three on one boot stomping to the head! Very deranged and violent people now with little regard for others.
Well, I think the difference is... everyone has a phone now. I think this stuff is/was rare overall, but it has always happened. We just see it more because more average people are filming than before. If anything, I think the sport has been cleaned up a bit... hopefully.
Hate to break it to you bud but everyone was way more violent back in your day when you were all eating paint chips and huffing leaded gas fumes. Also, getting stabbed and jumped has little to do with the kids these days and everything to do with where you live always has. Get a grip old man.
These clips are why I'm glad I play goalie. No one pisses with the guy wearing the most armor and the potentially most painful stick if it comes to a swinging match lol
That happened to me when I was playing junior hockey... I had a one on one break-away and when I got right in front of the net and about to let go a wrist shot, the opposing defenseman swung his stick like an axe and hit me in the middle of the forehead. The tactic worked, as I missed what would have otherwise been an easy goal, since I had just faked out the goaltender and he was committed to the opposite side of the net. Anyway, there was a big cut and lots of bruising... I still have the scar! To make matters worse, the referee didn't even call a penalty; apparently he was looking in some other direction? Hockey can be very dangerous if you don't have competent and honest officiating.
Played hockey since i was 7 yrs old never ever would i stoop that low, watched my daughter take a full chop to her back in a roller rink game, needless to say i took on the kids father & coaches on their bench ! Yeah i was escorted out in handcuffs.
It's assault with a deadly weapon. They should be prosecuted in a court of law, as was Marty McSorely, and banned from the sport for life, no matter the age or level of play. This has to be met with a zero tolerance policy. This is insane.
Oh wow, i saw one of the arenas i used to play when i was a kid in this video. That brought back memories. Nice video guy, i was lollin hard the whole time
If you notice the bulk of these clips are of house players that can't skate and take their frustrations out on the other players because of their inability to play the game. Usually these guys will be serving fries poorly at your local dive burger joint til they are 30.
In high school, my buddy got checked into the bleachers playing floor hockey in gym class. The kid laughed at him until my buddy used the stick as a ball bat and splattered his nose all over his face. Never seen so much blood. The kid was a real ass, so it was awsome to see it
If you do something like this, you should never be allowed to play hockey ever again and be arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. You guys are disgusting.
Any player using the stick as a weapon (not accidentally, but purposefully), should immediately lose all right to get back on the ice in any game (lose canskate number?). Or let’s up the stakes even higher: spend one night in jail.
Unfortunately, no one saw it but the guy from behind because it was the last seconds of the game and we were just celebrating. Then only in the locker room, people started finding out.

We ended up scoring in game 2 on the 5 minute pp my team got and then went on to win the championship the next game too.
@thathockeykid You're completely full of SHT. Please divulge the name of this league and where (city/town) they play. They would never let someone come back after swinging on a guys back 5 TIMES. Our league, you're gone for 3 games for throwing one punch....and it doesn't need to land either.
NIce story bro
@@gakefeddy3709 believe me if u want to or not. It was a league just outside of Winnipeg. Kid was from lorette and this took place like 5 years ago now. That’s as much info in gonna say but my league was not soft by any means as in head contact was normally 2 games. I got hit in the head once got a concussion and the kid got 3 games. I can’t remember more than that but from what I was told the guy was driving me elbow up ready to take off my head. Only long term suspension in my league was a coach who threatened to kill a ref and got on the the ice and was involved with the fight and was suspended permanently and sentenced to jail over it. There was a news story abt it. Team was Sagkeeng. All Ik abt this is I am 100% telling the truth and rly it’s up to u if u want to believe me or not but just know I am.
@@that1hockeykid298 I knew you wouldn't divulge the name of the league or any proof/news about it. But mention some other incident. Thank you for proving what we already know.
@@gakefeddy3709 normally don’t take time to do this bs for random people but sometimes people need to learn that not everything is made up BS
@@gakefeddy3709 and Incase u were wondering I played for the Springfield Icehawks in the EMH (Eastman Minor Hockey)
These clips need to be put in context. What precipitated the stick swinging incidents?
Why?
These days yes, 80 years ago that shit was normal even for enforcers.
tell that to McSorley, he thought he was still within the "warrior code" in 2001
Even Happy Gilmore would disapprove
0:36 Billy Smith tribute - no foul
I don’t know why but it reminds me of a samurai for some reason 😂
Had this happen to me once. Thankfully just bounced off my helmet and ultimately didn't hurt me. This was right after he dove head first at my knees first. So after that didn't work he swung his stick at my head as I was trying to skate away. Guy was a real piece of work.
I hope you finished him.
anyone that uses their stick to intentionally slash someone in the head or spear them should be immediately banned from hockey😂
and permantely
Played Hockey from 8 to 16... NEVER saw anyone swing a hockey stick like a weapon. NOT once... and there were wild games! It just never crossed out minds to whip our stick at someone's head or neck... or the back of any kind!!!
Worst we had was the rare mostly accidental "spearing" and a handfull of "cross-checks."
this just shows that it starts very early and in different divisions. I think it should be a lifetime ban
Holy moley . The last bonus clip is a lawsuit. Hes completely going bezerk. I wonder if RUclips will pull this video because of the violence.
Pffft. RUclips only bans thoughts that go against the governments.
Everyone of those people should be locked up. Kids too
on god like a little slash to the back of the leg is as far as it should go after that it should just be a fight no gloves the amount of out of pocket shit im seeing in these bush league ass games is sickening lmfao
That guy at 45 seconds 😂 what a beast 😮
"You can't do that"
I can hear the commentators right now lmao
As a hockey player, thst is just assaukt
I coached for over 20 years. If you used your stick or skates as a weapon you were taken out of the game and were off the team, no second chances. This was independent of any in game penalty or league penalty. Explained this to parents and players at the beginning of the season, never had any problems.
Why tf I see my hometown barn in here 😭
I've been playing hockey for 3500 years and I havent see anything like this since the Mongols.
It makes me so fricking mad when some idiot comes up and just starts hacking at my teammate!!!!!
I'm coming off the bench 100000000% and no one is stopping me
Growi g up in 🇨🇦, i played hockey for many years. That attack behind the net was absolutely brutal.
I agree, I'm 50, started when i was 4..... I was blown away watching this.
1:44 yall got any more of that compression?
These clips are why I'm glad I play goalie. No one pisses with the guy wearing the most armor and the potentially most painful stick if it comes to a swinging match lol
Some of these are crazy!
The one kid who just tosses his stick like a Speer couldn't help but laugh.
I just rewatched that beast at 45 seconds definitely earned the number 69 😮😂😅
0:47 You have to admit that was pretty funny...The wind up was comically long...red is jersey 69..then gets "this is Sparta" cracked head on.
Why are almost all team mates in this clip passive??
Hockey is brutal!!! 🤘🏻
You ever use a stick for a weapon like half them I just seen you should never be allowed in any rink again
Believe it or not that’s a crime😊
Yes it is
Uh yeah it is a major penalty intent to Injure but it should be considered felony assault with a deadly weapon.
Anyone hitting Other players with sticks should never play hockey again
This is an all time video
Great comp, didn’t add ten replays in slow mo, nice work
1:18 the collective dissapointment of all the hockey moms is kinda funny lol
That spear was no joke. Had a few of my ribs broken that way..
This is why fighting is legal.. to get those frustrations out before a deadly weapon is used.
My fist is a deadlier weapon than your little hockey stick.
it is well known that sticks are highly deadly
13 yr official. 1st stick offense last year. 12U. Coach asked why it was a Match penalty. “You’re kidding. Right?”
0:48 looks like something out of a movie. the stick broke over his head just like those fake sugar glass bottles and he got up like a villian
0:47, bro sad screw u and just bopped him😂
No footage of the Hanson Brothers?
Lol 😊
Played hockey since i was 7 yrs old never ever would i stoop that low, watched my daughter take a full chop to her back in a roller rink game, needless to say i took on the kids father & coaches on their bench ! Yeah i was escorted out in handcuffs.
Lol i would like to see all these guys in the same team xD
versus professional sabre style fencers lol
Bro the one where 69 gets a stick broken over his head was wild… ref shoulda let him get a couple vengeance punches in just for the fact he stood up
hope these players are never allowed to play ever again.
It's assault with a deadly weapon. They should be prosecuted in a court of law, as was Marty McSorely, and banned from the sport for life, no matter the age or level of play. This has to be met with a zero tolerance policy. This is insane.
The bonus clip: I felt that.
Oh wow, i saw one of the arenas i used to play when i was a kid in this video. That brought back memories. Nice video guy, i was lollin hard the whole time
Weapons..sticks....
Sounds like 80's hockey to me🤣
Incidents like these should end your hockey career forever
Why do you think I quit reffing ?
Hockey guys are so cool
I play hockey in france, and in scrimmages im somewhat of a dirty player and my teamates will always take a swipe at me whenever i commit a penalty
The kid was a real ass, so it was awsome to see it
0:56 hey western fair! I play sledge hockey on that rink
If you do something like this, you should never be allowed to play hockey ever again and be arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. You guys are disgusting.
1:13 is the Gardens Ice House in Laurel. 😬
Some of these people should actually be in jail, not just kicked out of a league (which I hope, at minimum, they were).
These dudes aren't getting off the ice !!
Man after seeing this we need a new call on the ice called “assault” and rather than a trip to the locker room you get a trip to jail thats insane
Any player using the stick as a weapon (not accidentally, but purposefully), should immediately lose all right to get back on the ice in any game (lose canskate number?). Or let’s up the stakes even higher: spend one night in jail.
To be fair 00:32 was more funny than anything else
Unfortunately, no one saw it but the guy from behind because it was the last seconds of the game and we were just celebrating. Then only in the locker room, people started finding out.
Where is troubas hit on frederick?
A lot of future psychic patients in this clip, omg...
This is why hockey allows fighting
