    To those of you who think his program has been over scored: it hasn't been. I mean, when you pay attention to his edgework, you can see that he digs deeper than any other skater. I don't pretend to be an expert on figure skating, but I've been watching it enough to know good footwork, and Patrick's got it. He deserves all the attention he's getting, and it's not fair that everyone thinks he's not as good as his score.

    It's because people see a total score and make a rash judgement "too high" "too low" but forget that they need to look at the protocol to see exactly what's going on. That's the great thing about the new system

    He is amazing) i`m from Russia and i should love Plushenko more, but let`s be honest: this program is much better than the one Evgeni has now. Plushenko is really booring someties and too pathetical, besides he is less emotinal and plastic. same time Patrick looks less confident in his jumps than Plushenko. OG 2012 are going to be interesting, but i can say that deep inside i will support Patrick more, cause FS is more about soul than just jumping.

    Damn, if he had gotten the quad just a year earlier, and skated like he did at 2011 worlds, he'd be the Olympic champ!!!! I am becoming a bigger and bigger fan: I just wish he'd use a bit more exciting music. He tends to always skate to very heavy handed programs (esp. in the free), such as Phantom of the Opera, etc. Give him something that shows off his personality.

    @magaline2008 As I have explained many times, by without looking femenine I refered to his artistic style. It is not that I don't think that racism and homophobia are both forms of discrimination, it is just that my comment is not homophobic, since I am not saying that having a femenine style is bad. I meant that masculine skaters can be as graceful as femenine ones, unlike other people's opinion.
    If people wouldn't have an opinion of artistic works and share it, then art would not exist.

  • @hrjr2009
    @hrjr2009 13 лет назад

    @kalikalimo men whom skate "femininly" are skating being whom they are! Why bash them? I could care if a program is masculine or feminine! As long as its clean...thats all that matters!

  • @kalikalimo
    @kalikalimo 13 лет назад

    @hrjr2009 I never said that there was anything wrong with femenine looking skaters. Read comments on other Chan's videos and you will see how many people say he is not as artistic as others and they cite femenine skaters. I think they are awesome, but Chan is awesome too. I think a lot of people have a mold=male skaters should be femenine and I don't agree, which is what I meant with my comment. I don't have a mold, I enjoy all and I am just pointing out this particular characteristic of Chan.

    Ok, I don't quite get it. His parents are chinese, originally from Hong Kong and China. But he doesn't have that typical chinese look that we would associate with. Initially, I thought maybe his mother is a caucasian, because he looks eurasian to me. Maybe somewhere along that ancient lineage lies some european blood? Either that or one of his parents is an eurasian.

  • @onelove4j
    @onelove4j 13 лет назад

    I read that Patrick wants to improve his artistic and performance abilities. i applaude that goal because I agree with his assessment. However, I don't see how keeping the same program and choreographer year after year is challenging himeself. As much as I love this program it's not good enough to repeat. He's the World Champ and as a fan I expect more from him. I would like for him to take dance classes including hip-hop to improve his musicality and also try a new choreographer.

  • @kalikalimo
    @kalikalimo 13 лет назад

    @magaline2008 I don't think your white vs. black people intelligence comparison applies here, since we are talking about art appreciation. If a man is able to move in a femenine way, I see that as a good ability that not all men possess and he should be proud to add that quality to his art. However some people (check other Chan's or Lysacek videos) complain that some skaters who do not move in a femenine way are not artistic enough. My comment meant that moving with masculinity is also artistic

  • @magaline2008
    @magaline2008 13 лет назад

    @kalikalimo
    this is why it was not necessary to add "look feminin to be artistic"
    If you had write "Chan is very artistic" you would have express everything without starting a controversial discussion here.
    I am not the only one who see an issue in your first comment.
    If I wrote "It is not necessary to be a white man to be intelligent" would you see some racism behind ?
    What would you think if I wrote "Martin Luther King is very intelligent"

  • @magaline2008
    @magaline2008 13 лет назад

    @kalikalimo
    I just remind you you didn't write "move in a feminine way" in your first comment, but "without LOOKING feminine".
    You can't see any parallele with prejudices for racism and homophobia ? Damn !
    I really don't understand why people have to explain why they like or not an artistic work.
    You like it, fine, you don't like it, fine to
    To show you the difference between male and females skater performances expectations, remember the french Surya Bonali ! Black and non-feminine...

  • @kalikalimo
    @kalikalimo 13 лет назад

    @magaline2008 My original comment never says that I do not like femenine performances by male skaters. I just meant that not all have to be like that. Homophobic means to show a negative attitude towards a homosexuals, lesbians, transgenders, ...etc. I am not saying anything negative about them. Now differentiating people is a normal thing to do. If I say you are white and I am black, I am differentiating people, yet I am not offending anyone. There is nothing wrong with stating differences.

  • @kalikalimo
    @kalikalimo 13 лет назад

    @magaline2008 I know all about women inequality, but by saying you are a man or you are a woman I am not discriminating anyyone, I am stating a fact. If I say women should earn less then there is a problem because that is sexism. If by "Weird" you mean Johnny Weir, I don't see what is the problem. I'm sure that some people would agree that his style is somewhat femenine, but that is what makes him amazing and his performances are beautiful. I don't see why he would be offended by that.

  • @kalikalimo
    @kalikalimo 13 лет назад

    Racism, homophoby, women inequality? All because I said that not all skaters have to act femenine to be artistic. You have serious issues. I am ok being called a woman and not a man, because that is what I am. Yet I don't think that people stating the difference think that I am inferior or any of those outdated concepts you have. We are all different in most aspects, but we can all be equally amazing and have equal rights despite our differences.

  • @kalikalimo
    @kalikalimo 13 лет назад

    @magaline2008 The most important part of my comment is the part that says "wtihout looking femenine". I said this because a lot of people think that all male figure skaters are either effeminate or gay, and I do not think that is true. Second, you keep implying that all homosexual men are effeminate and the ones that are not act "straight", which only shows your ignorance. I am not judging anyone, I am just stating that a male does not necessarily have to look femimine to be artistic.

  • @zaitesushion
    @zaitesushion 13 лет назад

    @ymhktravel You're right, you don't get it. There are plenty of Asian people who don't conform to the way people like you think they're "supposed" to look, and they're 100% Asian. They're not mixed with Europeans just because you can't wrap your head around the fact that Asians don't all look the same. Get over your stupid stereotypes of what Asian people are supposed to like and maybe you'll learn something.
    As for the skating, beautiful stuff from Patrick as always.

  • @zaitesushion

  • @magaline2008
    @magaline2008 13 лет назад

    @kalikalimo I'm sorry. Ignoring interiorised homophoby reveales that you didn't make all your work about homophoby.
    Differentiating people seem to be normal. There are males, females right ?
    Why do you think that by saying "You're a woman" implied that she will earn less money for the same work, she will have to take care about the children mostly of the time, she will cancel their job to visit the doctor for the children.... etc....? See differentiating people is the first step of "racism"

  • @skuzinsk
    @skuzinsk 13 лет назад

    @texasguy377 I didn't say "what does over scored mean?" I was asking, honestly, what you saw in it that was scored too high--a specific element or program component that was scored unjustifiably higher for Chan relative to another skater. Maybe he has been generously treated at his own nationals or at some Grand Prix assignments (Skate Canada comes to mind), but who hasn't?

  • @magaline2008
    @magaline2008 13 лет назад

    @kalikalimo
    Please can you stop putting words and concepts in my mouth.
    Did you know about inequity between women and men salaries ?
    Did you know there are many Gay prides all over the world because of homophobia ?
    Did you know that a canadian commentator was seriously blamed for a "feminine looking skater" speaking about Weird.
    These are all facts, not serious issues on my side.
    As I already told you, words have an incredible force. They can be interpretate one way or its opposite.

  • @magaline2008
    @magaline2008 13 лет назад

    @kalikalimo
    Ok you're not homophobic, but be careful at what and how you write things please.
    Art doesn't need critics to exist. If I decide to write a book, to paint, to sculpt, to sing, I will never create by thinking at the critics... else it is not art but "work".
    Real artists don't care about critics. They just do what they think it's ok to express emotions.
    Critics refer simply at the market value of an art never at the inner value of the art. Inuit art didn't wait for critics to exist

  • @hrjr2009

  • @magaline2008
    @magaline2008 13 лет назад

    @kalikalimo
    Oh interesting how you try to rephrase your meaning.
    If you were not that homophobic, why having added "without looking feminine" in your first comment.
    A normal, non-homophobic comment would be "Proof that men can skate beautiffuly and gracefully".
    See, you have probably lot of "straight-acting" gays as friends. But judging people or using their behavior to differenciate them... this is exactly the definition of segretion.
    Perhaps you think you're not homophobic, but you act as if.

      @@MisakiTaro1710 I believe skaters in history had the same ability as right now. They just didn't believe doing many quads with artistry can be done. I am glad that skaters are pushing the boundaries now. However, the risk of having injuries is significantly increased.
