The anti Nehru gangs in India should note that the reception to Nehru was in 1956, just 9 years after independence and 6 years after India became a republic. India was a poor country then , nothing to boast of; no great industries or army. Economically poor. But still US then at the height of its glory after Second World War showed immense respect for the person, Nehru. In hindsight, anyone can find fault with Nehru, but to downgrade or belittle his contributions to India speaks volumes about the low mindset of leaders and the people concerned.

What an intellect, nationalism, etc. of this PM who laid the foundation of science technology and industrial infrastructure in modern Bharat. That was Nehru. A pure Aryan Kashmiri Brahmin with blue blood and an aristocrat he gave all to his motherland Bharat and lived simple. Today many of our leaders are illiterate, semi-educated and criminals enjoying the benefits that are there due to the sacrifice of our earlier leaders. Many are not only ugly in behavior but also ugly looking. Injdiraji help make Bharat into a superpower. She fragmented Pakistan, China ran out of fright the USA was stunned. Blasted a nuclear weapon in 1974, took Sikkim, Siachen and parts of POK back. In 1967 thrashed the Chinese at Nathu La. The only major mistake Mrs. Gandhi made was attack our temple. She had also other options.

Gandhi had a deep churning in his mind on whom to be selected as the prime minister of a nascent state. He had two bright men suitable for run the country, patel and nehru both are capable, the former was unanimous choice of all congress party functionaries and the latter was a man with immense knowledge on international and domestic matters and well known all over the world. Gandhi felt, I presume, india needs a man who can get along with all the influential world leaders. As an impoverished country at the time of independence india needed someone who could persuade world to support india in matters like defence, education and food etc., and chose him for the post. Nehru, as was his mentor expected, did tremendous job in all sectors and it is still Visible toady. Patel happily agreed to give way to nehru and such was the trust and respect they had on each other.
Great Men speak less and deliver more. Gandhi, nehru and patel belong to that miniscule minority.

How unfortunate we were to have a fellow as PM who was not unanimously selected as a PM candidate by its own Congress party (Congress chose Sardar Ballav Bhai Patel as its party President and PM candidate) . The fellow who took all credit for Indian democracy killed democracy in its own party to become PM. India would have been significantly different under Sardar Ballav Bhai Patel as its most deserving PM.

it’s funny to see how misguided and uninformed these people are based off false information.
Nehru was the one person who actually believed in “Unity in Diversity”. He believed in uplifting every religion, every caste irrespective of which he belongs to. Each one of those selfless leaders dedicated their whole life to this country.
Now you live an easy life because of their sacrifices and you sit in your safe home then criticise them. 🤦‍♂️

@@yashvrm He was not the only one, at the time secularism was mainstream in the Leaders of the INC.
But I think their argument of "having Patel over Nehru" is utter crap because Sardar Patel was already dead in 1950, so despite him actually being preferred by the Congress, it was worthless as he was dead anyway.

Jawaharlal Nehru was a statesman, a scholar, a visionary, a nation builder, a thinker, a freedom fighter, a constitutionalist, a world leader and a symbol of hope and aspiration. My salutation.
