no feel of water | charcoal animation

this was actually the first project we did in experimental animation, and BOY was it DIFFICULT! the first bit at least. drawing and destroying and redrawing charcoal is so HARD! i did a real sly transition with the stars from my school workspace to my home workspace hehe.
the whole project is a reference to an excerpt from "Return of the King", when frodo is telling sam how he doesn't remember the feel of water or the touch of grass.
this essentially is stop-motion animation, all shot with an overhead camera. (my phone taped to a tripod)

the depth you were able to convey with the waves was so cool. the animation is so smooth. the eye opening was so fluid it felt like a match being lit.
