  • Finally caught the SWAT team!!!
On January 16th 2024, I filmed units from the Seattle Police SWAT team responding to a standoff in Ballard. This was for an armed DV suspect barricaded inside an apartment.
SPD units had been on scene since about 3pm, including the negotiating team, in an effort to get him out. Around 7pm, while at home, I heard a siren and saw an unmarked SUV on the traffic camera that looked like it might be SWAT. I pulled the scanner up and heard that SWAT was on the way to the scene.
I wasn't sure which way they'd be going, and because it was below freezing I didn't want to hang around outside, so I pulled up 4 different traffic cameras covering their possible routes. When I spotted them on Aurora Avenue, I jumped in the car and made it to the scene before they arrived.
I almost missed the SWAT truck and Bearcat - I was expecting them to turn a few blocks away like the pickup and SUV did, but instead they snuck up on me. Thankfully I was able to get my hands and phone out of my pockets in time - I would have been really bummed if I missed them after all that.
SWAT arrived at about 7:30, and around 8:00 they took the suspect into custody. There were no injuries.
I ended up leaving just before they moved in (like I said, it was *cold*) but I did manage to catch one more SWAT SUV arriving on my dashcam. Thanks for watching!
    Clip listing:
0:00 - Unmarked SWAT pickup responding
0:16 - SWAT panel truck and Bearcat responding
0:54 - Unmarked SWAT SUV responding
    1:19 - On-scene footage
2:16 - Driving home, with one more SWAT SUV arriving

Great catches Lucas-definitions interesting lighting setups on the various rigs. Cool on scene footage as well.

Nice catches of the SWAT team, Lucas! Really gives us a good look at the vehicles they use.

Thank you! Yeah, I was glad they went by a bit slowly so I could get a better look, especially since the night footage tends to be lower quality.

Nice catches Lucas! Kinda neat to read about the sleuthing you had to do to get these catches too, makes it all the more rewarding!

Ooh, I didn't know they had brownies - I might have to check it out. And yeah, thankfully no one was injured. Thanks for watching!

Does the overheads on that Bearcat work? Everytime i've seen it, it has it's other red and blues on but never the light bar. Also, SPD Swat needs to learn to park like LAPD swat on their call outs (youtube it)
