DO NOT put your spare tire on your front wheels and drive it!!!

      Thanks for adding this comment:
      As per owners manual,
For SI MODELS: DO NOT use a compact spare tire mounted on a front wheel; it will damage the limited slip differential On Si model only.
(see page 337of owners manual ).
The size difference may also cause damage to the differential, so do not mount the compact spare on the front. If either front tire goes flat, remove the rear tire on that same side, mount the compact spare tire on the rear, then mount the rear tire on the front.

@@dannysdiygarage What about for non SI models? I haven't tried but can the spare tire compartment fit a full sized tire?

Long ago, in the quiet of the world, ‘‘twas midnight” and just getting off work. Had a flat. Dug out the tools & rolled up my sleeves. Jacked up the car on a bottle jack. Took off the wheel and as I leaned into the trunk to get the spare thought “crap I didn’t chock the wheels… oh I will be careful” 2 seconds later I pushed it off the jack and the hub hit the ground and bent the neck of the jack. Now it would only jack up a couple of inches. Luckily there was a pile of rocks 10 feet away. Some almost boulders. Jack up 5 inches. Put a rock under. Lower the jack, screw up the jack extension. Jack up the car 5 inches. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Lesson learned “Listen to that quiet voice!” Now even on the flattest ground CHOCK THE TIRES!!!”

Do I need to set the parking brake on whenever I'm taking the wheels off & what socket size do I need to torque the wheels to spec? I'm about to do my first break pad change. Thank you for your time.

It’s all about safety, if you’re doing brakes no, you will need the brakes off, put it in park and block the wheels , 19mm socket 80ftlb on my Civic
