Lovely bit of history you have there. Back in late 50s early 60s , as schoolboys we could not afford amps but there were lots of unwanted valve radios becoming available so we used try to make our own amps...in retrospect it was a bit dangerous playing around with electrics with our limited knowledge but thankfully we survived.....

I've been thinking of trying an old valve radio. They're so cheap even now.
Didn't Little Walter use a suitcase amp at one time, as well? I believe it contained eight 8" speakers.
I didn't know about that. Maybe suitcases were athing back then.
