      It was an add-on for the SNES exclusive to Japan, which basically allowed you to connect to BS-X Satellaview, Nintendo's first online service via satellite connection. On a schedule they broadcasted exclusive games with live radio commentary/music over them, which seems pretty cool. You can read more here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satellaview

      +Nin10d0 Rulz DA VV0rlD BS-X is a add-on to SNES,which was only in Japan and could connect to the Internet. Another name of this add-on is "Satellawiew Modem".

      The BSX needed satellite broadcasting to send over games to it each week with characters having voices that came from Nintendo then sent to a satellite and broadcasted to systems worldwide.

    the first one isn't the NES itself, it's the famicom disk system BIOS. the N64 one isn't the N64 itself, it's the N64-DD BIOS.

      Thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one who knows this. For example, the N64 BIOS would just be the logo on a black background (on select games, not all of them) with no music.

    If you don't know what BS-X is,it is BS-X Satellaview by St. GIGA and Satellaview ran from 1995 to 2000.You can recieve magazine,radio,and games on satellaview using a satellite.it has been revived later as a fan made BS-X project called Satellawave.

      Hey, I'm from the future, and I can tell you that the switch doesn't have a startup screen, it just goes on to the home menu. (Unless you have switched it on for the first time.)

      It now haves its startup its actually 2 joycons One Down And One Up The 2nd one gets down in side of 1st one and the click sound is made and the music runs and we get to the screen. BTW I'm 9 years old.

    The Wii menu startup when pressing A and the music that plays brings back so much nostalgia every time I played the Wii and when I played GameCube games on it that was also awesome I just got the Nintendo switch today Nintendo is awesome :D

    The Wii was my childhood. I loved it so much. But the time came and I sold my Wii, so I'm saving up for a next-gem console. Not gonna mention of its PS4 or Xbone because I don't wanna start a comment console war. Both are great

    The NES & N64 startups were from there Japan exclusive "add-ons", the Famicom Disk System & the Nintendo 64DD.
    The Gamecube was the first Official Nintendo console to get it's own Start-up screen!!

    Um, the first startup shown was actually for the famicom disk system. The NES never had a startup, it just went straight to the game.

    Note that the original n64 didnt have a startup screen. The screen was from the n64 disk drive, which was a HUGE flop.

    The first intro is actually the one from the Famicom (the Japanese NES). The American NES never had an intro. Same for the N64

    I remember wanting to play super mario sunshine and I saw on wii it had the little GameCube disc next to the main. I put in super Mario sunshine but nothing happened. I then begged my parents for a GameCube and my cousin got me one. Btw, did anyone have a problem with the screen like sometimes it would be black and white, color, no audio.

    You using japanese versions tho. 0:37 it says Family computer. Family computer is nes japanese version. Another one is the nintendo 64. Mario shows up only in japanese version.
