It's that time of year- when budding "Jetski Fishos" look longingly at the sea and dream of catching their PB Spanish Mackerel! :) Well, that was a dream of mine when I first started fishing. Maybe it's yours too?
Spanish Mackerel, a species that look a lot like the King Mackerel found in the warmer waters around the US, are a bit of a prize catch here in Australia. Although very prevalent in the tropics, here in South East Queensland, Australia, they are only more numerous in the summer months when the waters warm up. Hundreds if not thousands of keen fishos scour the local waters in search of these prehistoric predators. Their speed, their razor sharp teeth and ultimately their delicious taste makes them one of the most sought-after species in our region.
In this video I offer some information on the various techniques I have used to catch this species from my fishing ski. Plus I "bag out" - which means the legal limit you can take home- and catch a nice one while having a great day out on the water.

Thanks very much for the positive vibes! I have to admit it is a bit of an effort to shoot and edit, but it's also my passion and keeps me going back for more. I hope to keep doing these and improving as much as possible, so please keep coming back and commenting to let me know someone else gets something out of it too. :)

Would've been a pleasure simply being out there with that view, the mackerel was just a bonus. Great editing as usual Paul 👌

As fast as the lure will go and hold in the water. It’s somewhere between 8-15knots generally
