For me, they just felt inside of my collar and the lady put her hands in my back pockets and then just felt the button of my legs and she put her fingers inside my socks and that's it, she completely missed my waist band, my chest area and 2 chest pockets, my 2 front pants pockets, or near the crotch area and knees or my entire back or feet. It took like 1 minute and 30 seconds. I even asked if she wanted to check my front pockets and she said no and that I was done. Also she felt my tie like she did in this video
Items can be strapped to the chest, arms, wrists, thighs, legs, and ankles. I guess a thin blade could be hidden within or under the tie. Purpose of the collar check. I don't know. Maybe for irregularities like a mic or wire. Or other items like vials that can be hidden within a lappel far as I know.
