That intro (Dierks Bentley) always gets me pumped for a race. Loved seeing ( and totally miss) the older cars from the 70's and 80's! The "cookie cutter" PoS cars they use now aren't "stock" in ANY sense of the word.
Best stop motion I've seen. Good commentary too. Only thing I see wrong here...I can not picture Mark Martin doing a burnout. He didn't even do it after winning for the first time in 5 years back in 2009 at Phoenix.
Exercise mats. You can find them in the fitness section at walmart. They come in these 2x2 squares so you can take apart the track for storage. I taped off all of the areas I wanted to be asphalt, then spraypainted the rest green. The walls are made of weather stripping, which you can find at Home Depot or Lowe's. The track markings were done in paint pen ( I had to buy doubles of each color, the exercise mats are VERY absorbent and will dry out the paint pens quick)
The grid music is the Main Menu Theme from an old Super Nintendo game called GP-1. I searched "GP-1 SNES menu music" on youtube and copied the URL to a youtube-to-mp3 site.
Well, I can't say for sure. This one took me about 2 months, but that's in part because it's a huge track, and the first time I put this much effort into post production. The rest of my tracks are smaller, so hopefully I can get the next one done by the end of July, but I don't want to make any promises, other than that I'll try to get the next race done asap.
Never really thought about it before. I suppose track burnouts. There's something really satisfying about all that smoke. Although one of my favorite burnouts ever was when Carl Edwards accidentally destroyed the front of his car after running over that grate in the infield.
No, I decided not to make this a signup series because even after they fill up people tend to keep sending requests. But thanks for the feedback. And happy Thanksgiving.
It's been going well, I'm on lap 13 of 20. I've hit a snag recently with my shooting schedule just because life gets in the way, but I hope to return to production next week.
You mean like the stripes on the track? Those are paint pens. You can find them in the arts/crafts isle at walmart. I have to use a few per track because the surface is really absorbent, so it dries out the paint pens pretty quick.
Well, since these are outdated now you'll probably have to search ebay of you want the same style. I got most of these from the merchandise trailers at Texas Motor Speedway. NASCAR.com sells the current year's cars on their website.
Your best bet is ordering online from NASCAR.com or to go to a NASCAR race and walk around the merchandise trailers. Depending on where you live, you might have a diecast shop close.
To be honest, I'm not entirely sure. When I animate the frames in iMovie, I think set the project to 30, then set the pictures to either .1 or .2 seconds.
Race 2 is up now, but I've been really busy lately. If I can find the time I might be able to have race 3 ready by the end of the month/early November.
I wouldn't say nobody likes him, he's got quite a fanbase. He does wins a lot, which understandably gets to be pretty boring, but if you go to a race, you'll see plenty of Jimmie fans. And Kyle Busch fans for that matter. He gets booed a lot, but I usually see a good number of KyBu fans when I go to the races.
Tell ya what, a funny thing happened this season. I've never been a big Hamlin fan, but almost every time I put him on my fantasy team he delivered, so thanks to fantasy NASCAR I've become a bit of a Denny fan just because he's my best "employee".
I'm assuming you mean race 3? I just finished shooting thanksgiving day, and I'm hoping to have it done and uploaded by Saturday night. I know I've been pretty bad about my deadline predictions, but I have a good feeling about this one.
Keep looking on the internet. Ebay will probably have some. The small scale cars are 1/64 scale, so you should be able to find something with that keyword.
So you were actually a fan of the wings? Interesting, not too many folks liked them. I wasn't a huge fan of them, but I'm using my 2009-2010 cars because with the overhaul of the Sprint Cup cars coming in 2013 I decided to not buy the 2012 cars and save my money for 2013.
Not alot of pepole know this but nascar drove in kentucky around 1962-1972 at corbin speedway in corbin kentucky around the corbin london airport I should know I live around it
wow...dude, you have WAY to much time on your hands..lol. Dont stop though, these are frigging awesome!! The only thing I would say is maybe add some tire marks on the track for the burnouts. Maybe black chalk would work so you dont ruin your padding, and can still reuse them.
I know, all of my races are one-stop races. I just like to say final stops of the day because it makes it sound like the race has been going on longer than it really has. Besides, technically I'm not lying, it is the last pit stop.
Your videos are great! I think they are better than"The Aflac Cup Series",because the guy who makes the video, makes a bunch of custom cars, and yours are all real paint schemes. Also when he makes two car tandems, he tapes his cars together , and it makes it look unrealistic.
Watched this 8 years ago and now I watched it again and it is still the best stop motion I have seen
Man I watched this when I was 7, I'm 16 now, time sure flies : ' )
Really smooth u just need more recent cars
Coming back to this video in 2020... Its still awesome!
That was the MOST REALILISYIC RACE I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!!!!! AWSOME JOB!!!!!!!!!
I like that you brought the COT cars back to nascar stop motions.
That was the best stop motion ive ever seen
I watched this when I was young and now the intro still gives me the same energy as like it never went away
What a memorable race
That intro (Dierks Bentley) always gets me pumped for a race.
Loved seeing ( and totally miss) the older cars from the 70's and 80's!
The "cookie cutter" PoS cars they use now aren't "stock" in ANY sense of the word.
The "on-board cam" = EPIC!
Best stop motion NASCAR race EVER!
Dang is this really a stop motion it runs so smooth 10 out of 10
best stop motion car race I've ever seen! You've outdone yourself!
Darlington is almost finished, the only thing I have left to do is install the retaining walls and give them the old school striping.
Best stop motion I've seen. Good commentary too. Only thing I see wrong here...I can not picture Mark Martin doing a burnout. He didn't even do it after winning for the first time in 5 years back in 2009 at Phoenix.
this has to be my favorite stop motion

job well done i like watching these and yours is the best ive seen make more if you can looking forward to it
this was actually cooler than I expected. good work, this must have taken some time.

Great Stop Motion! Are you gonna make any more? Also, will you be getting the gen 6 cars?
It's been going well, I'm on lap 13 of 20. I've hit a snag recently with my shooting schedule just because life gets in the way, but I hope to return to production next week.
You mean like the stripes on the track? Those are paint pens. You can find them in the arts/crafts isle at walmart. I have to use a few per track because the surface is really absorbent, so it dries out the paint pens pretty quick.
you take a pic of a car then move the car a little and take a picture then do that about one hundred times
Well, since these are outdated now you'll probably have to search ebay of you want the same style. I got most of these from the merchandise trailers at Texas Motor Speedway. NASCAR.com sells the current year's cars on their website.
I miss this intro :(

y did u put tape over the nose of the #1 car for the 4 wide crash?
I almost forgot that I was watching a stop motion video had my imagination going.
Soon. Unless I get really busy I should have it done no later than the end of the month.
hey dude love your track, im taking tips from your how to vid, when r u gonna make the southern 500?
When I played nascar heat 3 on the backstretch at Daytona the cars go 200mph
I like how smooth the sm is
and yet again I find myself at that weird side of youtube....
This is amazing!!!!! Great stop-motion!!!
I forgot exactly which site, but it was a diecast dealer online. I typed in "David Ragan 2010 1/64" and searched around.
I love the intro so much!
this is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY WISH MINE WERE LIKE THIS
I like you racing
@DJCrayz I did not make that car, it came in a 2-pack at walmart; one car was a real driver, the other was this fictional event car.
Goodyear Cup Series.
Where can I find the music from the starting grid?
Would tell me where to find?
Thanks from the Brazil
Schedule Race 1 Daytona Race 2 Phoinx Race 3 Las,Veags. Race 4 Bristol
I know, but these cars are from the 2008-2010 era, so the drivers are in their respective rides from then.
Race 2 is up now, but I've been really busy lately. If I can find the time I might be able to have race 3 ready by the end of the month/early November.
How do you make your videos so good
A ton. I didn't really keep track, but I'll guess somewhere around 100 per lap?
I wouldn't say nobody likes him, he's got quite a fanbase. He does wins a lot, which understandably gets to be pretty boring, but if you go to a race, you'll see plenty of Jimmie fans. And Kyle Busch fans for that matter. He gets booed a lot, but I usually see a good number of KyBu fans when I go to the races.

It's not a sign up series, sorry.
I'm assuming you mean race 3? I just finished shooting thanksgiving day, and I'm hoping to have it done and uploaded by Saturday night. I know I've been pretty bad about my deadline predictions, but I have a good feeling about this one.
thanks for the tips

Adding wedge makes the car tighter genius
Whoops, ya caught me! Chad Knaus is gonna be mad I made him make a dumb decision like that...
7:30-What About Keselowski’s Engine Expiring At The Finish??
It's supposed to represent damage. It's not perfect, but it does a decent job of looking like bent up sheet metal.
His engine let go. It happened on the final corner, so it didn't really cost him anything.
Not alot of pepole know this but nascar drove in kentucky around 1962-1972 at corbin speedway in corbin kentucky around the corbin london airport I should know I live around it
It's crazy how you can make something people like.
dude you are awesome!!!
wow...dude, you have WAY to much time on your hands..lol. Dont stop though, these are frigging awesome!! The only thing I would say is maybe add some tire marks on the track for the burnouts. Maybe black chalk would work so you dont ruin your padding, and can still reuse them.
this race is Sickkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!
Can I join the races please
I removed the car from the track and put the camera down where the car would be
Nascar driver from the 1950s in my family
Hey man first off nice job with vids and thanks for the advice on how to build the track but where did you create your logo at send me a link please.
what did u use for the lines
He only has 1 DNF so far. His other finishes have all been top 10s. A 10th, 6th, and 4th. He's 8th in the points. I'd hardly call that bad.
this is awesome cant white for race 3
I know, all of my races are one-stop races. I just like to say final stops of the day because it makes it sound like the race has been going on longer than it really has. Besides, technically I'm not lying, it is the last pit stop.
Was this the 2009 version or 2010 That’s what they look like
Good race
Yahoo Paul
Those are my favrote cars!
And 2
He really does have the worst luck at plate tracks.
Hey love the cars where'd u get them please reply
Where's race 7?
what is the deal with the tape on the car after a wreck
Your videos are great! I think they are better than"The Aflac Cup Series",because the guy who makes the video, makes a bunch of custom cars, and yours are all real paint schemes. Also when he makes two car tandems, he tapes his cars together , and it makes it look unrealistic.
Buddy Dean Smith His cars are wrong
Buddy Dean
Buddy Dean Smith u are right
LoudBalloon 🖕 you all
Acs is better wym yall dumb
This is like the only good stop motion race I've ever seen.
Well i like what you are doing!
Yeah, I figured with the 2013 change coming I'd just keep my 2008-2010 cars and save my money for next year's lineup.
mark martin finally won!
what burnouts do you like grass burnouts or track burnout
i love it!
brad blows up on the final lap
Lol
So realistic
this is so cool how did u do it?
It's supposed to represent damage.
Cool you hot the 2010 2009 and 2008 cars
This is pretty good
so cars go 600 miles an hour now
if u watch the vid at 0.75 speed it looks much more realistic in terms of how fast the cars go
It's alright. New stuff!
Go Jr
I Like you Made Race 3 Race 8 Race 9 Race 10 and Race 11 a Nascar Race Make Race 2 a Nascar Race plus Race 4
