Bindook was famous in commercial aviation as it had a waypoint beacon for the air approaches from the south. It was often mentioned by the pilots on approach to Sydney. Now disused.
Ive been on that road too . Me and a mate bushwalked from Katoomba out narrow neck and up the Cowmung river to Yerranderie back in 1997 i think it was . anyway there were mega bushfires out that way and NSW that year and we got picked up by the Bush Firies on the wild dogs ridge and they took us to Yerranderie . the next day the firies evacuated us , gave us a lift to picton through there .wow it was spectacular ! and so beautiful the scenery was amazing ! the cliffs were gigantic compared to any others I have seen around the Blue Mountains I have explored much of the Blue mtns as I was a climbing abseiling bushwalking canyoning and wilderness survival guide in the Mtns for about ten years so got to have a pretty good look around ant there is some of the most spectacular cliffs in the Mtns but it is hard to judge because all of the blue mtns is beautiful and spectacular . I to do feel very privileged i got to travel through that road and so glad I got to see that part of the country . Was a great adventure .
I can remember, as a very young boy (born 1941), camping at the NRMA camp ground in Burragorang Valley. The trip down the pass into the valley was a bit of a test for the old cars - no disk brakes and good radiators in those days. Because the war was still being held, petrol was rationed, so the engines were warmed up on petrol, then swung over to run on kerosene for the trip. The last trip to Burragorang was a family day trip in the late 1940s. Into the 1950s I participated in a couple of multi-day hikes along the Coxs River from Katoomba before the whole area was cleared of trees and shut off to everyone. There's a lot of good memories there, and only a few black and white Box Brownie photos as a record. Thanks for the video.
yerrabderie is a cool place...i met Val in the mid 90s when camping out there.. she invited us in and offered us tea, and we chatted a bit at her kitchen table.. she had some great stories...
Sydney Water organises several escorted convoys each year, mainly for residents of Yerranderie who need to practise getting out that way in case of bushfires. The Wollondilly Historical Society also has access to some of these convoys, and descendants of former residents are sometimes lucky enough to get a spot. My great great grandfather was John Vigar Bartlett, who operated the Bartlett silver mine back in the 1930s.
Top stuff permits should be allowed to see this awesome region and its history and Not only responsible people get to see it the money will go to maintain the park and boost the economy that's hanging on by a thin thread . There's more to this region then what is spoken about or documented I've grown up for 46 years exploring the region and its nooks and crannys and there's more hidden history then people know of I spent many of weekends with dad on Neville and Val Lang's property bindook and exploring the region before Australian's were locked out of Australia. Let's all work towards a better system were we can enjoy our country without the minority spoiling it for the rest . The (rest) aka us should not be punished.
There should be small tours available to all to see this amazing scenery.

I can vaguely remember doing a trip with my father in a coal truck to valley 3 . Would have been probably 1970 or 71

Cemeteries were dug up and bodies relocated according to the wishes of relatives.
