My BFF rented a pool last weekend for her birthday, 5 hours for 12 people for $600. The backyard was very nice, it had all the amenities you would need and want. The pool was heated, the jacuzzi was in its own private spot and it even had a half bathroom with an outdoor shower.

Yup, different states/counties/cities require different things, like a lifeguard at "public" pools, which I would guess this would qualify for. AND always remember the family isn't signing the waiver, so if you drowned your family can and will likely sue, especially if it was alcohol related!!

In NYC, hotels often offer a pool pass for non-hotel guests during the summer. It can get expensive and you're still sharing the pool with a ton of people. Yuck! My friend lives in a luxury apartment building with a very small rooftop pool. I just go over to her place and sign in under her name to use it for free. Thank goodness for friends. Honestly, if I had anything to offer, I'd rent it out too. My apartment comes with a shared back patio that I never use. Wouldn't it be nice if I could rent that out for small gatherings and help pay my rent? Lol

I live in Northern California and I used Swimply several times last summer. It was a great experience. Never any issues. I would do it again. I bet a lot of people made the same negative comments about Uber and AirBnb when they started, it’s the same thing. If you don’t want to do it, then don’t.

Your wrong on everything lol. Firstly your homeowners insurance company cannot drop you in the middle of your policy unless you miss payments or commit fraud. Secondly the app they are listing on covers them up to 1 million dollars, and lastly the app they list it on is required by the IRS to report all profits, that’s why the app sends you a 1099 if you are a host so they already know how much you owe you just have to pay it. All 50 states have regulations that fly in the face of these pool rental companies. Technically, if a pool is available commercially to the public it must comply with the local regulations governing commercial pools, such as regular health inspections, certain construction requirements, ADA compliance, and much more.
People have been doing this in Colombia( South America), for years! They charge about $100-$200 to use their vacation houses, or some people would rent it hourly as well.

The fact that the pool is not fenced and locked worries me inasmuch as, if the circumstances warranted, it could legally be deemed an attractive nuisance. I had a small blowup style pool in my backyard when i switched insurance once, and i had to either fence it or take it down. When you get homeowners insurance they will send someone out to the property to look at the exterior(they just show up, and you might not even know they were there). If they spot things like this, or other hazards, they will let you know what to do or they will drop you.

I just rented out a pool. It was super convenient and fun. Super grateful for the app.

My girlfriend got pregnant swimming at my neighbors pool. Not our fault its the owners fault. He is responsibility my poor girl is now in a state of limbo with me on how can he have such a dirty pool. We trust each other so her honesty goes miles with me and will provide for us . Love wins . Lawsuit time.....

Wait until the pool renters start causing disturbance to the neighbors and they will start reporting you to the city. The party pooping city will eventually create regulations to stop this. I heard pool renting is not allowed in some cities. I rented spaces in my backyard for car parkings and got a very nice notice from to stop.

Unfortunately whilst this is a good one off opportunity for this family, I would be concerned for the personal safety of those going onto the property of strangers. There are public swimming pools, beaches or a spa if you want a relaxing time.
