great video craig! i cant even think about getting rid of mine (though I do think of upgrading a lot!!!) its been such an integral part of my pedal board since 2012!
from what i can tell, the v1 has more low mids than the v2, but the v2 is clearer sounding. the mojo factor is real and i love the warmth and fullness but also a big reason I end up dumping the v1 off my board often is those low mids. They sound cool solo’d but end up not always being so hot in a mix. The v2 likely fixes that problem; sounds more transparent, cleaner and more sculpted.
Hi! How are you liking the V2? Any differences in tone that you notice compared to V1? Love the V1 sound but couldn't do wthout multiple presets. Im hoping V2 sounds exactly the same but with the added features.
for me the V1 has something extra...just bought one ...i'll use it with vintage synths but your guitar work really shows the pure effects...nice work 👍🏻
@@CraigAllenMusic It’s difficult to tell but I feel like the V1’s have more mojo to their sound in the videos I’ve seen. I also read that they used cheaper components in the V2’s but not sure if it’s true. Really want to get one but it’s a hard choice, sound is the most important for me but the midi preset option is so tempting. It’s a nightmare!!! 🤣
Yeah I hear you. Obviously the best thing would be to try them both yourself. I have heard some say they notice a difference in how they sound, to me it's not that noticeable but I assume they are slightly different. Newer is not always better so if you like the V1 then go for it, and at least you'll save some money. I will say I haven't used the midi stuff yet but I do like how they changed access to secondary functions on the new one. That for me has been worth it for the way I use it. Good luck!
@@CraigAllenMusic Cheers for the advice Craig. Maybe I’ll buy a V1 second hand and then order a V2 to test. Either sell the V1 on or send back the V2. You’re right, probably the only way to know. 🍻
From these comparisons I could not tell the difference. I do not know why but this demo does not make me want eiter. I am sure this unit is capable of more, mabye with some overdrrive. I have seen demos that make me want one. This is a trun off for me.
This was really helpful to hear, thank you so much for making this side by side comparison craig ❤
Glad it was helpful, it was fun to make!
One of the all time great modern pedals. I would have a hard time selling either one too. Nice work. :)
For sure, and tape delay is just amazing in general. But I can't get enough. 😂

Thanks! You have had me looking closely at the Volante as well.
@@CraigAllenMusic the volante is so good craig... if i had the space, id consider getting a second one!!!
There are few things better in life than listening to an El Cap loop chew itself up 😌🥰 great demo Craig!
Agreed. And thanks!

Yeah great analysis!
Bravo mi amigo. im sold. Thank you for putting this together.
Enjoy!

Yeah to my ears the sound is pretty much identical. I think that was their goal, same pedal just with more features.

Nice! They're both great and I wish I could've kept v1 honestly.
Hey, when you did this, did you have all the secondary settings at zero for the beginning parts?
Probably not but I don't remember where they were at the time.

Ignore the 🤡 comments above. This comparison is top notch. Bravo!
Thank you!
last 3 minutes on repeat
Yeah I'm gonna be doing that a lot more.
