Hopefully Burns can help Kayvon improve as a 1 on 1 rusher. His sack count didn't really tell the whole story. He was not consistent as a pure rusher and so far hasn't lived up to his full potential.
He needs a spin move or a counter move
He’s been in the league for 2 years and had 11.5 sacks last year. No real Giant fan should be talking about a guy not living up to his potential after 2 seasons. That’s ridiculous bro. Relax!!!
He had 8.5 sacks against wash, jets, and seattle, and disappeared on many other games. Kayvon is never double teamed so having Burns won't help Thibodaux. Burns will help the blitz.
I expect KT training under Andre Patterson instead of Wink's guys will make a big difference too.
@Thagomizer-U235 but kayvon might do better if he's going up against lesser tackles, as Burns will take 1 on 1s with the Main guys

Our front 7 should be punishing with the new editions and Okereke is a Pro Bowl quality LB ...and that rush will make our secondary better...why I love the speed back there
I want Brian Burns to take the next step from star to superstar and play like Josh Allen range especially because of how we’re paying him. Then I want Thibs to reach that Burns level
He's not even a star, 8 sacks(#37) and 15 tfl(#13) when Panthers played a lot of bad teams. We could have gotten Hunter for less money and not given up 2nd rnd pick - 16.5 sacks(#5) and 23 tfls(#1).

This defense has potential. I really wish we went all in on it in the draft so that it could be a smothering one.
Imagine trading back, getting Quinyon Mitchell or Byron Murphy Jr. PLUS Nubin in the second round. But we'll see.
We spent all D cap and 2nd rnd pick on Burns, who isn't even top 10 edge. Only 8 sacks and 50 tackles and Car played a lot of bad teams. He didn't even play run that well.

I think it will be a situational rotation. Phillips on run plays, and there will be a battle for pass plays Nacho, Davidson, Rielly.

I think it’s okay to be realistic but acknowledge that this team is trending in the right direction long term - we may have to survive one more volatile season to reach a more successful time

The Giants really need a guy like Chatman..... he is a great and very strong athlete who plays like a man possessed. May need some time on the PS. He was overlooked due to a lack of prototype size. Could be one of those sneaky good signings. I wouldn't tell him he's undersized to his face : )
We just signed Jordan Phillips, but he might not make 53. Chatman ordinarily PS to bulk up, but he only has to beat out Basham or Fox, so he might make 53. We have nobody to set edge on runs to fill Jihad Ward role, but hopefully better.
@@Thagomizer-U235 Yeah. I don't know about Chatman "bulking up" since he's already fluctuated between 270 and 290 in college. It might be more about working on technique with Coach Patterson. He won't be competing directly with Fox or Basham since they play on the outside but it depends how many D linemen they intend to carry.
It's funny. No one ever names Jordon Phillips. And I'm not saying he's great by any means. But I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Phillips start next to Dex for at least a portion of the season.
I would expect Burns to be way better than Kayvon. I expect kayvon to be another shit pick by Schoen.

I’m excited about this defense. Yea we got rookies as DBs but our front 4 is going to help that out. That’s how our defense use to be.

A rotation between all of the positions will be a luxury for the New York giants. One of these DTs is bound to step it up!

There isn't a team with 4 pro bowlers in their front four. This front 7 can be elite. If not the best in the NFL. Front 7 like these become champions' defense.

Dru Phillips slot is weak, Flott CB2 is weak, Banks still needs help over top, Nubin is unproven at safety. Nobody to set edge on run plays. I see middle of the road D with lots of holes.
