@hclandscapes It depends on what you listen to, your preferences and the size of the room. My room is quite small 3x5m2 and I have speakers quite close to the wall - 35cm. I listen to a lot of electronic music. I don't need a sub. However, everyone has different tastes. The best way is to test them yourself in your own room.
@@kazzzer4876that’s good to know, my room is the same size as that so I’m sure it would be fine for me, do you have the S3 stands and do they need to be filled?
@@kazzzer4876 Hi, Any concerns with these drivers both in the R3 and Reference 1 Meta being fragile and easily damaged? I read on numerous forums of damaged Kef drivers. I am thinking of getting a pair of Reference 1 Meta to be paired with my Parasound A21+ amplifier. Thanks in advance.
Very interesting, although it’s impossible to hear every different through a RUclips sound demo, the R3 sound a little brighter and the R1 seem a bit more composed and natural, from what I have read the R1 really come into there own at loud listening levels around 90-100db and are much stable with stronger bass. they obviously have much better build quality but you certainly pay a lot more to have these benefits.

I am thinking of getting a pair of Reference 1 Meta to be paired with my Parasound A21+ amplifier. Do you think that the R3 sounds 90% of what the Ref 1sounds like and these R3 are the better value for money spent? Thanks in advance.
I have also seen this about KEF drivers which has given me some cause for concern. I even saw a video were some showed just how easy it was to dent these things. Such a shame because the speakers sound so good
The beautiful but also problematic aspect is the thin aluminum, which can, of course, be easily damaged. You just need to handle it carefully. I had the KEF Q750 and currently own the KEF R7, R2C, and Q150. None of the drivers are damaged because I handle them very carefully.
Both speakers sound really good, but I can hear a difference between the two…is it worth $6k?..I don’t know..if your budget can afford then I guess so..:-)
Reference: harmonisch, langzeittauglich, weniger spektakulär, Bass Fundament etwas schlanker, ehrlicher... R3 Meta: stürmt voran, heller ( evtl. zu viel), punchiger, langzeittauglich? ... in my opinion...
To me, the R3's sound punchier. It's subtle but it's there. Thank you for that demo.
With my headphones, I can hear better separation between the instruments and a more pleasing sound stage with the reference 1.
I have both pairs and the reference is a different world. The R3 is great for its price. I love them
Do the KEF r3 sound good without a subwoofer?

@hclandscapes I run my speakers with nuprime
