This broke my connection, had to use a system restore point to get my internet working again.

Are you sure that you set the correct IP, DNS, Gateway etc? What was the initial configuration?
yes I found where it said "Ethernet" bc I was using ethernet at the time. The beginning config still looks the same way it does now
