So I thought I needed to be a loyalist and try and hunt down a XM Gambit as well. Well I’m glad I came to my senses and said “screw that!” Lol. First of all, XM Gambit is hard to find, and when I do see one on eBay-dudes want $3K or more for him! Not in this lifetime!!!! So THANK YOU for your brilliant video, and I’m happy to be a new subb. This one was closer than I thought it would be, I much prefer that Sideshow pose a lot more. The portraits are way better also. XM however did a better job with the texturing and paint, but even that's subjective right. Great comparison video Jorge
Great rumble review! I agree with you, Jorge. I prefer the SS piece as it has a more dynamic pose which I am intending to have for my xmen team up display and it really goes well with Rogue, not just the base but the portrait as well. You could tell it's a Will Harbottle sculpt with the similarities in the sculpt design for the portrait. Gambit is an absolute cool guy! I can't wait to have mine shipped, hopefully soon!
Sideshow with the toothpick in his mouth just screams 90's wanna punch Gambit in the face, but also secretly wanna be like him. It is also so dynamic you can just picture him jumping and flipping around the Danger Room all the while being a total flirt.
Overall SS wins it. I'd say that the XM version is probably better when it comes to the details like the paintjob and textures (just as you said) but the stance and portrait on the SS is way in front. And like you said the one that stands out first is the SS.
I have XM and I will be getting the sideshows to, Now i do have the premium format Gambit to and still think that will be my favorite. What do you think about the premium format? Thanks
I like ssc but I think they made too much Gambit. Same for the new Punisher. It’s strange that SSC gambit double the ES as Rogue Maquette. I wish ssc footprint was smaller so it can be displayed in a cabinet. The question is do I need it lol.
This gambit has the face of actor Seann William Scott (American Pie), wouldn't it be a perfect Gambit for the MCU? And in the case of not wanting to, wouldn't they put Jared Padalecki playing this role?
Excellent Review. Your thoughts reflect mine and they're well worded. On paper, XM's Details and Paints are better, but Sideshow's Overall Execution wins this contest for me. Both are great statues and you won't go wrong with either choice.
SSC definitely looks better! Too bad the ES is so high. If I didn't know anything about either statue and someone told me to pick the one I wanted, just based on looks, I wouldn't hesitate to grab the SS one.
My biggest gripe with SS is its severely underscaled. Very disappointing. But the XM on the other hand appears to be slightly over scaled. I'd rather go slightly over scaled than way underscaled. In my opinion.
Your reaction with SS Gambit got me pumped to get it lol...I just wish SS could have been consistent with all the X-men as this Gambit so looks Jim Lee drew in sculpt form! In admit I didn’t jump to PO because of the high edition size and said I’ll get at a later time but once I saw it in your video, pics, and reaction I said fuck it I need to get him lol...I don’t think I would ever sell him so the ES shouldn’t matter but does take something special as there are too many of him available. I do like the XM one minus the long hair portrait but hands down SS version is much...wow! Hoping they do Storm and Archangel ASAP but at the quality and impressiveness as this Gambit. Also hopefully their ES will be lower too. Glad you did thus video as I was hoping you did. Sucks you don’t collect X-men any longer as this will look amazing in your collection

I much prefer the sideshow, it is extremely dynamic and really super well done, the Xm is good, but the sideshow has something more, I asked my wife which of the two she prefers the most, she said the sideshow , yet it is neutral and has no base preference between XM and sideshow. ~~ I am very happy I ordered the sideshow, it is not expensive, but IMHO it outperforms the Xm. ~~~~ XM does not mean "" always better than others "" "" so sorry for the fanatics of this brand. ~~~~ knowing that I'm not a sideshow or Xm fanatic .... ~~ but the sideshow obviously has something more. ~~~~ great video thank you!
I literally agreed with every point you mentioned on both pieces. Especially how SS went with having the danger room base and his pose going forward. XM might have more fine detail, but SS takes the win. Awesome comparison vid
I prefer Sideshow concept and portraits over XM. I like XM Base, paint and coat design. XM Gambit pose reminds me of king of fighters Lori yagami fighting style

I GIVE A SLIGHT EDGE TO SIDESHOW ONLY BECAUSE OF THE PRICE. EVERYONE IS GEEKED OVER SIDESHOW GAMBIT NOW BUT I THINK REMOVED FROM THIS MOMENT EVERYONE WILL APPRECIATE THE XM VERSION MORE.
It’s a tough decision! I love the paint app and details on the XM piece. But SS does have better portraits and pose. With that huge ES of SS, you wouldn’t be able to sell it in the future if you need to. Sigh, it’s a tough choice.
Sideshow is the clear cut winner by far. Especially in terms of value. Smaller run and an art print is no reason to pay an extra 500 for the xm one. Also the metal plaque does not come with every xm gambit. Only the first 30% of orders received one. Sideshows pose is more dynamic and the portraits are a lot better. Also I prefer the more vibrant colors sideshow went with. And it’s a lot cheaper for a better statue. Xm isn’t bad but for the price No contest sideshow.
Good time to be a Gambit collector. Both statues are good representations of the character but I feel if you’ve been all in or mostly all in on the SS X-Men line, then you have to go with SS Gambit. I think had SS gone with a pose similar to XMs, some people would have been pissed. So kudos to SS for making the pose dynamic in the same vain as Rogue. While i appreciate the details on the XM Gambit, the long hair sculpt is terrible and the pose is a slightly supped up Capt. Morgan. Sure the base details and colors are nice, but it’s MOAR sentinel. Snooooze City. I also find the colors on SS to be more vibrant and a little more dull on the XM. I never concern myself with the ES because some people who do, are only worried about resale value or their cool elitist status.

I hate that his pants are plain and I really really hate how big the statue is. i've told myself if the commision or company doesn't care about us collectors and our real estate space we have then i have no business giving them my money. It just is toooooo big, take up way too much space and its not like Sideshwo doesn't know that we dont ahve places to put these statues, and most of us have Bestas its not fitting in there. So I decided to go with XM for the space saving . I also have the OG Sideshow Gambit which is the definitive for me.

I got the SS, I really don't think you can go wrong with either, if $$$ is no object.
I would go with the SS one for sure i like the base more and love the toothpick headsculpt. I dont mind the edition size if it looks great.

XM due to space issue that i have with SS. If only SS can fit into my display case
100% agree with you! While both are great pieces, the SS pose, facial sculpts and effects piece make it the better Gambit statue for me.
How about the scale of both ? Sideshow seems smaller than 1/4?
SS head sculpts alone give it the edge. But that pose is just sick. Perfect Gambit, imo.

Both are great. But for me, the portrait was the game changer. XM's portrait is too thin and too much folds. Portrait is still the Waterloo of XM.

Great comparison, I totally agree I love XM’s details but Sideshow is far Superior.
Sideshow by a lot. This statue just stands out and has incredible presence. The xm looks bland in comparison.
