Thank you. I'm 61 and just received my clarinet this evening. Going to practice the scale tomorrow. Really appreciate the work you did to teach us. God bless, 😊🙏
I am a beginner and pretty much a beginner at woodwinds but I've played string instruments 30+ years. I can play recorder as a music teacher and I find it so cool that the register key makes the fingerings like either a soprano and alto recorder. I bet clarinetists are experts at playing and switching between those two type of recorders since you do it on your instrument all the time!
a lot of videos, this bignner "explain it to me like I'm 5" was what I was looking for. it might help to paste staff notes on the screen while you do this
Cqn you teach me the C major appeggio please and thank you I am Downs sydrome and my name is Helen cheetham and I am falling behind as I have online home work for my lessons and in my Band also we are learning different songs so I need you're help if you don't mind at all my name is Helen cheetham
Probably waaaay too late for this advices but for anyone who sees this comment in the future ig, make very sure your fingers are completely covering all the tone holes. If you have a leak (finger is slightly off a hole) you're gonna squeak
You are correct, Concert C has 2 sharps, but the clarinet is in the key of Bb. Ana is not playing in Concert C, but rather in C major on the clarinet, so there are no sharps.
Hi Bryan, that is a great question. Bb clarinets, such as the one Ana is playing, are in the key of Bb. That means when she plays a C, it is actually a concert Bb, which is likely what you are referring to. So, you are correct. Technically she is playing in the key of concert Bb, which on clarinet is the key of C.
Research transposing instruments: it is called a Bb clarinet because when the players play what they call the note C, they are actually playing Bb. This is done for convenience of the player and when they play with other instruments the composer has to transpose the clarinet part up a major second so it is the same key

Thanks for helping me manage C to G, I'll tackle b when I feel more adventurous
Good video and helpful for a beginner. One minor criticism if I may. The camera showed your face instead of the clarinet when you actually played it.
I agree...if possible plz show the fingering when you are actually playing...Thanks ...its a just a suggestion...
Please show the clarinet when the notes are played. Thanks
