Can’t wait for Theia to come out. The 5 year display warranty is a great bonus. You might want to look into whether you can swap in a microLED screen when they become more mainstream. Then you won’t have to worry about burn-in.
This is what I've learn from this video. 1. Theia will prob come out in Sept this year 2. It will cost at least $750 3. Theia will be smaller than that pink box😂
Looks great! It would be a good idea to implement velocity control with long menu items such as volume control so people don't spend forever turning the knob.
Another video you could give us a sneak peak on would be the OEM mounting options. Since this is a premium product, hopefully a one hand on/off mounting solution from the OEM mount well engineered too without having to resort to an expensive third party solution right away.
Amazing! You guys are truly reinventing what a radar detector used to be. I don't know how other manufacturers will be able to compete, unless the cost of the detector is so outrageously high not many can afford to buy it!
Suggestion to make the menu even simpler: get rid of the on/off submenu and just toggle (e.g. wifi, Bluetooth, BSM) on and off when clicking on the menu item. Looking good! Can't wait until this thing is ready to go!
Beautiful. So many questions, but so working on being patient. Keep the info coming, looking forward to learning more as time slowly crawls along, as it has lately. Stay safe everybody

BT B Mostly because drivers are already available for most 2.4 and not as much for 5. It would take additional time and as you can see people want Theia now haha. 2.4 should be great for everything and don’t forget it will also have bluetooth and wired USB-C connections! -Randy

Jon, is the board going to have conformal coating??? With a metal case the lack of conformal coating might be a major 'Achille's heel' for us in colder climates. I hope you do some freezer to hot humid Cincinnati testing...…..
Very exciting, looking forward to more updates from you guys! I am very interested in the extensibility / customization story. When will you get a preview of the SDK out?
Jon and Mindy, Very excited to see the progress can't wait for release. Me and a buddy, have been watching the progress and would love to visit your location if and when you would be comfortable receiving people with the whole covid scare. We are about 20 minutes from you.
Cool feature to have would be to not only darken display depending on time of day or brightness, but also change the color. I'd probably want red at night, and blue / white in the daytime.
@@bwxmoto Yes, it will have a light sensor for automatic brightness adjustment. You can then do whatever you want with that with the open API as well. -Randy
Please do not rely on open API as a substitute for features out of the box. Great that it is open API but I don't want to have to learn to code. 😆 Thanks.
@@bwxmoto Of course we are not. But you should assume most all features on current radar detectors will be in Theia. Remember, we are enthusiasts too ;) -Randy
Hi! Firstly, I like how you are dealing with the screen warranty but if there were no distributors in my country, I would like to have some features to prolong the screen life. Secondly, as you have wifi/BT, can we use a smartphone app to do all sorts of integration and settings (in addition to the knob)? Finally, I am from somewhere with RHD vehicles, I hope you won't make the Theia like the V1 or Uniden R7. Thanks.
Yes, you will be able to use a phone app but it will be later on in the future as we are focusing on finishing Radenso Theia's development. As for the appearance of Theia, you will just have to wait and see! Thank you -Randy
If only every company cared this much about their customers...very refreshing none-the-less. Question: is there a plan for a dark mode (screen blackout mode) or any type of “screensaver” like the R7 uses a little dot that jumps back and forth to prevent burn in?
Glad to have u 2 back.. do what u most to make it right, i will be patiently waiting for the release.. i most say Mindy is looking very lovely ❤️😊 have a great weekend guys
Radenso Radar I haven't noticed it mentioned in these videos, but perhaps you've mentioned it elsewhere, are you already working with, planning to work with, or is it not on your "radar" to work with iDatalink for integration with their Maestro systems? I'm hoping that Theia may be set up to display information via aftermarket head units much like (only better than) the K40 and certian Escort detectors. Does Theia have an accelerometer, or a sensor that could be used to check its posistion / level? Basically, would it be possible to set something up in the menus or through the open API to help users be sure the detector is level? If not, it's probably to late. I'm just thinking that one of the frequent issues I have to deal with is leveling my detectors. I mount them via Blendmounts, and inevitably someone will move them while adjusting the mirrors, or my detailer will move them while cleaning, or I'll bumb them somehow. I keep a little level in my vehicles just to be sure I can get them set right if something happens. Perhaps Theia will be so sensitive that being level won't have the same impact as other detectors, but there's still something appealing about knowing it's set up for the best possible performance, and just that it properly situated. Anyhow, thanks for the video! I'm eagerly awaiting more.
Thom Murphy Yes, we would like to do that but right now our current focus is getting Theia development finished. As far as leveling, it needs to be level with the vehicle not the elevation so a sensor wouldn’t be able to really do that. -Randy
@@RadensoRadar Sorry, I should have phrased by comment better. What I meant was that I hadn't heard from you guys in a while so came to browse your channel and was happy to see the new video. I was in no way complaining that I didn't receive an email about this video. I'm sure it was in my inbox when I came to You Tube. I want to know about new content but don't mind if it takes 2 weeks to get an email. I know you have more important things to do. Again sorry for the confusion and if it looked like I was complaining. I'll edit my original comment.
I did see where someone asked about auto-dimming. You responded that this can be changed via API. But, will it have this feature as a default out of the box? This would require a light sensor in the detector on the hardware end, API withstanding.
240atomic Everyone seems to be asking about simple basic features, I assure you Theia will have them. If we can create a real AI we can do a auto dimming mode. Also remember we are enthusiasts too!
I don’t know if this has been discussed but with a 10ghz refresh rate to gps, are there any plans to make it act like a 0-60 mph tester such as the draggy? Or use it as a lap counter for tracks?
Oh of course! Don't have details on that yet though because we have to finish the whole detecting police radar stuff but we are track junkies so it will be added eventually! -Randy
Hi John, thank you for sharing during this video. Do you anticipate a trade in program on Radenso Radar Detectors previously purchased? I am currently running a Radenso SP, loving it! The Theia platform looks exciting.
Will it have a magnetic mount?. And also have you guys considered heat? Will it have some sort of cooling system, will the metal case or color have any effect on heat especially being in the blazing sun?
@@RadensoRadar Randy, I just read my question and it was very poorly worded. My apologies. Will you be working with 3rd party vendors prior to release, so that mirror mounts and taps will be available on release day? I hate the clutter of a cord. Thank you, have a great weekend.
We have not been giving updates as our team has been busy working on it. As long as you are signed up for our Theia preorder email list, you’ll be the first to know of any updates. -Randy
I have had the Valentine V1 since 1992. Obviously I received all of the updates and have been patiently frustrated while I wait for the V1 Gen2 upgrade program to be available. I am now so very happy that the V1Gen2 upgrade is not available (Oct 2020). After watching multiple video reviews, researching your company and listening to your candid conversations I will be buying a Theia as soon as it is available to me. Quite honestly cost is not a factor to me when I have confidence in the product I am purchasing.
Thanks for watching our videos! Believe it or not we used V1s before Radenso started. They definitely paved the way. We can’t wait to show you more about Theia soon! -Randy
@@RadensoRadar ok thanks I will be ordering one when it is ready I been running radar detector for 40 years or so I had the low ends and the high ends one I am ready to buy my last one lol
It depends on the manufacturer of the windshield and what the dots are, we would recommend testing if your car has issues or just mounting below it just incase. -Randy
I don’t know how the release version will be, but here in the USA, turning counterclockwise typically moves your selection upwards and clockwise moves your selection downwards. From this video, it appears to be the opposite, like an Audi menu (or possibly other foreign cars). Maybe my eyes were deceiving me, but is this an option that can be changed?
Austin A. Keep in mind this is a early prototype and everything is still in development. I’m sure we will have every little option available even if you don’t like the menu / knob rotation ;) -Randy
@@RadensoRadar Great to hear Randy. I fully intend on purchasing about a month or so after release to verify everything matches the hype, but I'm excited like everyone else. It really is a game changer. Keep up the good work there at Radenso.
Hi guys, when are you releasing new firmware for the Pro-M? I’m getting a lot of false laser alerts since the last update. Tech support says a fix is in the works, but the false alerts are getting very disturbing..
Custom LED Unfortunately we don’t have a estimated release date for the next Pro M firmware version however but if you sign up at the following link you’ll be the first to know when any Pro M firmware is released! - radenso.com/pages/pro-m-product-registration
Hey Matt, Laser is laser. It's a highly debated topic in general but the consensus is a laser detector is just that. It's notifying you that a laser signal has been sensed. Without laser jammers like ALP, a laser detector is really just a 'ticket notifier' in our eyes. We know that a lot of people love laser detection so Theia will have it. -Mindi
5 year screen warranty! Got it, like it, thank you. Modular connection, easy to replace IF something happens, SMART! I see the USB C... Assuming production feature, smart!
Hi Jon and Mindi I'm curious on how will you address the heat issue, unlike our computers which have fans and our cellphones which lie in our pockets or holsters out of direct sunlight Theia is directly exposed to the sun heat plus you have three sources of heat inside as the CPU, FPGA and the memory itself, any of these when overheated will error out unless there is some sort of heatsink or way to dissipate all that heat from key components,... how would you do it or solved this problem??
Radenso Radar holy crap you replied quick!! Well I’ll say this I can’t wait for It!! This detector will change everything! I can’t wait to be driving and see an alert and Instead of seeing the frequency and saying well that’s a door opener or a Honda setting it off it will actually tell me that it is. That changes everything! And word on price point? As I’m gonna be a 500+ or 700+ honestly at this point if it’s a great as it sounds it could be the most expensive and would prolly sell. Can’t wait!!
I had a thought last night and was wondering if it would even be possible but would you be able to take user data and then use it to create more warnings as new detectors pop up internationally as it would be easier then flying all over the world and also it be nice to be able to choose your location to load the cameras on as i dont need chinas as they dont need our just a thought
Hey Grayson, Good thought! A few hiccups in the idea however. Personal privacy and the combination of quality of data collection. Garbage in = garbage out. We want the database that Rai trains on to be pure. Think if Theia were operating off a bad collection, the detriment it could have right? That being said, we have solutions... Stay tuned! Thanks, Mindi
You all are very talented and are creating the best radar detector that ever existed. If the performance will be there also, I will buy at least one if not two. Also I am surprised to read some of the mean spirited comments from persons like this 'Mann Down' who attempts to elevate himself in the glamorous RUclips world by regurgitating nonsense. These persons have no knowledge, and probably never will know, the amount of engineering talent that goes into designing such a complex device. Personally, me and many others admire your accomplishments and we follow your progress with great interest.
Thanks for the kind words. The Theia Project really has been a labor of love for us at home base. We're glad you're enjoying the ride and can appreciate the hard efforts going into it. Cheers, Min
Just curious, I am new to this market and I’m looking for undetectable detectors. I am currently using a Redline EX, might switch to the Redline 360c soon, but before I did, I wanted to ask you guys if Theia is going to be undetectable as well or not so I know whether to wait for Theia or just go for the Redline 360c.
Hey CJ, we haven't released the physical appearance of Theia yet but I can assure you it will look nothing like an XP in any size in it's final form. We've given several clues as to what her final form will look like though. Interestingly enough case design is the last part to be completed for Theia in the building process. We need to make sure all the electronics fit perfectly and then develop the case around that. Stay tuned to a future video for the final design. Thanks for watching, Mindi

@@searches04 max I would pay is 750 and still the v1 looks good.
Looks great! It would be a good idea to implement velocity control with long menu items such as volume control so people don't spend forever turning the knob.
There will absolutely be menu acceleration for that, we just don't have it totally polished yet. Good thinking!
Was just going to comment that you should make the oled screen user replaceable, when I heard that you made it an easy replace part. Nice!
I can't wait
Another video you could give us a sneak peak on would be the OEM mounting options. Since this is a premium product, hopefully a one hand on/off mounting solution from the OEM mount well engineered too
without having to resort to an expensive third party solution right away.
We are still working on developing the mount. But as you can see we like to improve everything so people might be quite pleased with it! Soon! -Randy
Love the not-so-subtle jabs there at Escort ;)
Good stuff Radenso!
will thia have a voice to speak the menus like the uniden r3 or better yet customizable voice option?
Yes, Radenso Theia will have all of the same features of our current radar detectors.
I am actually going to do that, it's a great suggestion -Jon
You beat me to it. I was thinking a checkbox next to those options. Good looking E38!

Radenso Radar already on the email list? Still expecting this year?
Yes, if anything changes we will let everyone know through the mailing list. Nothing has changed.
Welcome back to the office. I don't need Theia, I want it. Plus, a physical knob! That pink box is pretty beefy.
I'm super excited about this!
I'm so excited that you guys are back in the lab. The level of R&D is awesome, and I clicked so fast I almost got a speeding ticket sitting at my computer haha
Wow I love that UI. Thanks so much for the early look!
Maybe you covered this and I missed it. Will it have both wifi 2.4 and 5 ghz? Like my Max 360C. Can't update it, I have no way to take it in the house and power it. Not that I can't, but why when I have a built in hotspot in my Ram?
BT B 2.4 -Randy
@@RadensoRadar That saddens me. Is there a reason why we don't put in both?
BT B Mostly because drivers are already available for most 2.4 and not as much for 5. It would take additional time and as you can see people want Theia now haha. 2.4 should be great for everything and don’t forget it will also have bluetooth and wired USB-C connections! -Randy

Jon, is the board going to have conformal coating??? With a metal case the lack of conformal coating might be a major 'Achille's heel' for us in colder climates. I hope you do some freezer to hot humid Cincinnati testing...…..
Fritz Kabeano Theia will be weather tested, believe me we have thought of everything including AI on a radar detector! -Randy

Jon and Mindy, Very excited to see the progress can't wait for release. Me and a buddy, have been watching the progress and would love to visit your location if and when you would be comfortable receiving people with the whole covid scare. We are about 20 minutes from you.
Hi Steve, at this time due to COVID-19 we can’t accept visitors but maybe in the future depending on how all of that goes. -Randy
@@RadensoRadar That's very understandable. Thanks for the response, hopefully the future will permit. Thanks again, and take care.
Sounds so cool glad Iam waiting for theia
Sheesh if it's changing everyday for the last year then it's just gonna be a whole different radar than we expected.
Cool feature to have would be to not only darken display depending on time of day or brightness, but also change the color. I'd probably want red at night, and blue / white in the daytime.
Everything on the display will be able to be customized as mentioned in the video. -Randy
I meant to have the detector do it automatically.. change color at night, then to another color in the daytime.
Glad to see you guys back! Was getting worried what was happening. 👍
2020 happened unfortunately. -Randy
Eddie B Our current radar detectors already have a dark mode -Randy
Glad to have u 2 back.. do what u most to make it right, i will be patiently waiting for the release.. i most say Mindy is looking very lovely ❤️😊 have a great weekend guys
Could Theia be auto updated with wifi or Mobile hotspot?
We’ll be able to answer more questions right before pre-order on how to update Theia, thank you! -Randy
-Randy
Are you guys going to have the arrow feature?

Will this detector have MRCD ? I am from Ontario Canada and the police use MRCD heavily around here. Stay safe!
Yes -Randy
I did see where someone asked about auto-dimming. You responded that this can be changed via API. But, will it have this feature as a default out of the box? This would require a light sensor in the detector on the hardware end, API withstanding.
240atomic Everyone seems to be asking about simple basic features, I assure you Theia will have them. If we can create a real AI we can do a auto dimming mode. Also remember we are enthusiasts too!
Thanks for the personal response. I don't know of any other company doing what you are doing in terms of out reach and design. Consider me sold.

-Randy
Radenso Radar great news! And great news of the open api. I never got a valentine but that made it future proof for so many years

Hi John, thank you for sharing during this video. Do you anticipate a trade in program on Radenso Radar Detectors previously purchased? I am currently running a Radenso SP, loving it! The Theia platform looks exciting.

Where are Radenso detectors made?
I've been curious about laser and if it's going to work like every other detector and essentially be useless to laser?
Hey Matt, Laser is laser. It's a highly debated topic in general but the consensus is a laser detector is just that. It's notifying you that a laser signal has been sensed. Without laser jammers like ALP, a laser detector is really just a 'ticket notifier' in our eyes. We know that a lot of people love laser detection so Theia will have it. -Mindi

Hi Jon and Mindi
I'm curious on how will you address the heat issue, unlike our computers which have fans and our cellphones which lie in our pockets or holsters out of direct sunlight Theia is directly exposed to the sun heat plus you have three sources of heat inside as the CPU, FPGA and the memory itself, any of these when overheated will error out unless there is some sort of heatsink or way to dissipate all that heat from key components,... how would you do it or solved this problem??
Theia is going to be throughly tested in all types of temperatures, it won’t be an issue. -Randy
Will it connect to a phone Bluetooth and will it be rdd immune and how will it update?
Hello, yes Theia will have Bluetooth. The rest of your questions will be answered once Theia development has finished. Thank you!
Answer to pricing is also on our website under the Radenso Theia page, thank you!
My car (Ford) has a heated windscreen, will that be a problem with the detection range?
Nope, you’ll be fine with heated windshields! -Randy
Hi Kai! We actually answered this question in our Radenso Theia FAQ here for you: radenso.com/products/radenso-theia Thanks!
What will the Radenso Theia look like. A larger version of the XP
