I remember the telecast of Verdi's Requiem. It was on Saint Vitus in our biggest church in Prague. She sang the mezzo-soprano part. when she was supposed to be shot, the director chose to shoot in Prague. Nobody understood what was going on. Around her neck was a cross with rubies. Totally unacceptable for communists. But she was not a believer, she said it was a provocation. But I don't know for sure. Hard to judge... KGB agent for sure.. I don't like her, but I definitely do like her voice.

Who cares if she was a KGB agent or not, I am here for her voice. Who knows what she would say about the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but I like to think she would be against Putin's "special operation".

Apparently, I am wrong, a month before her death she signed a letter of approval of Putin's policy in Crimea. Oh, well...
