But I’m not a stan so I don’t know the style of this group, haven’t heard this song so my take is from this small song clip, and I’m an older kpop fan so I like “simple” over “complicated” (depending on the song).

I think the 2022 version is too much movement/nergy for the song. Like... too many condiments you know? I love how the 98 ver reminds me of a realistic dance you'd do in a sleepover with your friends. Fun, simple, cute and girly.
1998 version is from original music video that took place when they were "school girls" in 1998. The 2022 ver. is the one NJ regularly performs. 1998 was mostly for the music video nostalgia , supposed to look like school girls choreographed it. Hope this helps.😊
