Why don’t the employers pay theme proper wages? It’s completely ridiculous that they depend so much on tips to survive. I always thought of tips a a bonus, not a part of my actual income. Very sad situation for the workers!
Long story short. Tipping started off as a loophole to not pay freed Black slaves a fair wage while their white counterparts would get paid directly from the clients. Today the pacts still exists as it is believed that service workers need to be incentivized in order to perform well.
I start to not tip when doing takeouts. If I’m eating in then yes, I would tip because I get the service. I understand people depend on the tip to live off but it’s an issue with the employer not paying them higher. As a customer, I don’t think it’s fair to me to be forced to tip. I rather pay higher prices and not tip. It’s my opinion so others would have a different opinion than me.
Why is it my fault as a customer if the employer is not paying them well. Just don't tip!! Expecting people to tip esp when your service sucks is ridiculous which BTW mostly service in the US🤮
Just so People get an Idea. If you see a Steak for 100$ on a Menu in New York. Add like 11 or 12$ for Tax and 20 more for the tip so about 132$ in reality
I can't get my head around why you would tip for anyless less than exceptional service. If tipping for average service is the norm then its not a tip its a tax.
20% tip is "a good way"? so if its something that is $100, 20% means $120 then about another $8-13 with tax and thus around $138? Now repeat this process in not just one venue, but in the multiple venues you may go in one day or week. It's not sustainable for most people. Then take into account, a lot of time you can't EVEN SEE the prices of the things your ordering, so you don't even know how much your actually spending. So you can't see the price and pay 20% of the mystery price? How is this morally, financially and socially ethical? I never pay 20% extra ANYWHERE. The only exception is my own favorite personal spot in NYC. That's it.
Most restaurants would bring out an ipad for you to pick 20%, 25%, 30%!!! The old 15% is now outdated. Boycott takeout food and eating in restaurants! End tipflation!
@yannip2083 tipping is not customary for take out. Before iPad existed, there were tip jars. And they are mostly for dropping your change in should you choose to.
This is why my wife and l have rented an apartment and will be eating from food trucks. The only reason we are still going is because our flights are non refundable or we would not even bother. l refuse to be told what to tip by the people who want the tip, you chose your career. We work damned hard to be able to afford a holiday, for what, you to just demand it for doing your job.
I've travelled to many parts of the world. USA is the ONLY place where you MUST tip 20% on food, drink and services plus 10-15% tax (VAT). It's just as strange as visiting some Muslim countries that don't serve alcohol. Therefore, I don't visit the USA anymore and I avoid these Muslim countries. I feel bad for the poor, students, unemployed and pensioners who live in this tipping culture. Isn't this about 50% of the USA population? It's kind of ironic that the most powerful nation in the world requires tourists to tip their workers. 🤔🤐🤭
Mandatory tip? I don't demand a handjob from the owner for me spending there, am i wrong? We have lost the very essence of what tip is supposed to be, I do want a coffee but I don't want to pay your rent.
I may be biased but that is one good looking RUclipsr
🙂
Yes,man. Do you know him?

I give a tip to the Staff at McDonalds and they laughed at me. 🙂
What about our lives? That barely can afford the basic prices even prices before tax, let alone tips 😭
Thats insane!

I think this would be relevant in any major city, including Chicago and LA
just back from NYC the tipping is ridiculous
Just increase those prices. It is easy.

Restaurants are required to have their menus available at the door. Check the menu before committing to the restaurant.

I paid 20% tips for my new tesla EV
Fuck tipping culture.
Why would anybody get thous jobs if the pay is so low?
wtf tipping is just a us thing , god bless europe , we dont have that shit in here
And not in Australia, where every employee must be paid a minimum wage which is about $24 per hour.
great. In China, I could ask for 10% discount after waiter give you the bill
We do if we're impressed by some good attitude and if someone goes out of their way to help.

Why would anybody get thous jobs if the pay is so low?
They don't have any other choice
