This is the absolute worst thing blizz has EVER done. Nobody can change my mind.
Between Illidan edgelording a Naaru to death later in this very expansion (which was surprisingly popular), what Sylvanas did to Teldrassil and 9/10 things in Shadowlands... this is far from the worst. And that's not counting what certain former devs did in real-life.
WOW fans would never recognize a good story if it doesn't have "Arthas" or "Lich King" written all over it.
The two good things blizzard has done storywise are killing varian and saurfang, after establishing them as characters.
I'm not a fan of storytelling through sacrifice normally, but both of these deaths did wonders for the story in the context they played out in.
That said, blizzard quickly went back into edgelord mode and ruined it, the only truly good stories in WoW atm are Tirion, Jaina and Saurfangs. Anduin might end up okay and Tyrande is so-so. Sylvanas is just a clusterfuck.
Arthas was mid-tier storytelling at best, its just that most people experienced his story as teens in WOTLK. That said, his story in WC3 is one of the best stories ever told.

The Horde sucks, that's just a fact. Not only did they run like cowards as soon as they got a little challenge, but not one of them was brave enough to stay behind and sacrifice themselves to ensure the others survival. The Horde only cared about themselves, as soon as their leader got injured because he was careless, the only thing they thought about was saving their own sorry asses and not saving the world, like the Alliance did.
Alliance is the better faction, that is undeniable. Accept it.

lol horde storyline is okay but alliance has always had a better storyline imo.
Horde got pretty boned in the recent years lol. Garrosh was awesome but made the horde the bad guy and basically split it in 2, then Sylvanas takes over and again the horde is the bad guy and splinters again before Sylvanas straight up calls the horde trash and dips on them lol, so they get treated pretty shit.
