I currently work at Petco and I really do not like the process of how the bettas are shipped to us... I also don't like how they are displayed, having them in those small bags just to be moved into a bowl that isn't much bigger, and then they just sit there forever untill someone buys it. Only to not understand that they can't just put it in a bowl or a 2 gallon tank..

I feel your pain Chris. No fire thank goodness, but my 75 gal leaked several weeks ago. We finally got it resealed and have done the leak test. 24 hours, no leaks!
I just want to say, you've motivated me to put "water changes" on my calendar, once a week now, on Mondays along with your new video drop. Thanks. (I have antlers in one of my tanks too)

As much as I love my bristlenose, he was a mistake to get because of all of the ammonia. However, ever since I put in water lettuce, the tank has been thriving. The guppies are hiding in the roots, the guorami is hanging out around the middle, and the corydoras are slightly less active because of the cover.
I did some research on them when I got them, and apperently they eat a lot more algea when they are young! As they grow they sometimes "age out" (if my research was correct of course) Also wood!!! Get your plecos some, its important for their diet!!! Helped solve my plecos aggression when we got a second (small) log for them
Makes sense to me )when they’re young and growing they need all the food they can get), and I know Siamese algae eaters are like that And yes! Plecos need wood to rasp on, especially mature, water-logged wood with plenty of algae and biofilm growing on it
I recently lost my 15+ year old common pleco and only have three fish left in my tank and the bio load difference is... wild. 😮 I, personally, adore Plecostomas of all types, not "because they clean the tank" but because I think they are beautiful, amazing fish! Mine was very much like a dog, he would play with me, splash water at me with his tail when he was hungry, he would eat from my hands. He was just the best fish I've ever owned and losing him was... tough. I loved that fish so much.

The video by Robert Marc Lehmann - Mission Earth about the Beta Fish whose fins are cut off so that they are considered more beautiful and shipped to the EU really broke my heart. And this is reflected in the transformation 11:53
Was just coming to the comments to say this too. My tank is infested but they do an awesome job cleaning so I keep the numbers in check. They breed like crazy. Blanched Cucumbers to attract and trap works wonders. Also got a cool little device that scrapes and captures them off of the glass.

Good morning and happy FTR day everyone!! Wishing all a super positive and radically wonderful week. QotW; my personal favorite Killifish is the little Rocket/ Clown Killi aka Banded Panchax but I'm really grooving my son's group of Bluefin Killi. We ended up getting New Zealand Mud Snails in his tank and two of mine( super invasive, super horrible!!) so we're breaking down his tank and I'll be moving them to my rack and I'm thinking I may not give them back...😅 Fav Rainbow; definitely the Pseudomugil rainbows. I think the Bosemani rainbows look like warthogs with that huge body and tiny little face. 😂
tough question for the killifish part there are lots of them that are interesting and pretty but i think the most unique one in my book is the classic clown killifish as for rainbowfish it would be boosemani rainbowfish..saw one in my lfs in a beatiful planted tank with school of six and my gosh they are super pretty
Question: I am upgrading my betta to a bigger tank in the same spot. Only thing, I have no where to put her while changing them. So I am thinking of getting a 5 gallon tote bringing her filter and heater into the tote but I wanted her filter to cycle the new tank but I plan to use everything from her previous tank in the new tank and just add more soil and driftwood. Do I have to worry about a cycle?
Doryichthys boaja is a freshwater cousin of the seahorse, most sources say they only eat live food (i've not seen any source say they don't, but there may be). FISH TANK REVIEW LETS GOOOO Qotw:I haven’t had any of them before Alsooooooooo how big of a tank do Khuli loaches need? I’ve seen some mixed opinions on it
20g is the easy and comfortable option, but 10g with a large footprint will work with a small group. They care about base dimensions rather than volume, so even 5g is possible if you overfilter and have one of these extremely long, shallow river-style tanks. But personally, I wouldn't push my luck.
25g is my ideal option. with that extra 5g, you might be able to put a few guppies or maybe shrimp. Just have a heavily planted tank if you want to breed shrimp/guppies in there or you can with not too many plants if you want natural selection to take place. They prefer long and shallow tanks over vertical or cube tanks. Try keeping them with floater plants, you might see them hang upside down XD
personally anything 10-15g and above can start hosting some kuhli loaches, not more than 3. make them highly planted! They are tough and hardy lil guys but do need a lid or floaters
Gotta shout out Frank's Bettas as an ethical breeder, he puts his profits into efforts to conserve wild betta species and he only sells short-finned bettas from strains he developed himself.
Favorite Killifish? I would have to go with the Norman's Lampeye Killifish, A school of these silly guys peering at me in the dark is A+ jumpscare material.
I don't know much about many fish. So, I'm not sure I can answer the QOTW. Let's say the Golden Topminnow. Native to the US. Found this info on Wikipedia. Thank you for the Video Chris.
omg I got a jumpscare seeing my city apparently shipping shrimp? Wait, we have a shrimp supplier here? I've been buying mine online, I'm gonna go looking for this place now lmao
Oh that over-weekend warehouse thing drives me mad! Please put the CORRECT label on packages; I once ordered some medaka ricefish an they put a "live plants" label instead of a "live fish" label on it. It had been sitting in the hot mail truck for most of the day; mailman said had he known it was fish he'd bring it first thing in the morning. None of them survived because the box wasn't really insulated either; just had crumpled up paper in it to make sure the bag would stay in place. Due to lack of insulation I just asked for a refund instead of new fish and thankfully they complied. But MAN. I was so sad! Anyway, QOTW answer: American Flagfish is my favorite killifish! Got a thriving population in my backyard pond; it's fun watching them eat the string algae. Hard to see their colors from top down but when I spot one at just the right angle they're really pretty! As for rainbowfish I've never really kept any, but the Lake Kutubu Rainbowfish has always been an interesting one
QotW:I don't know my killifish, but my goal for when I'm able to keep fish again is to eventually have threadfin rainbows. I also really like spotted blue-eyes which seem to be within the rainbowfish family?
Hey chris bro just to let you know I hope you are doing well , the amount of work you put in the videos is mind blowing 🤯 i mean you craziest passionate fish keeper we wanted and we we got you You inspiration for people like me that sometimes think i dont want change water but mind reminds of you and your dedication towards this even though you fighting with earthquakes right ? ❤from india 🇮🇳
QOTW: Lyretail Killifish, Eggers Killifish, and Blackfin Pearl Killifish. Had to pick 3 cuz it's my first time really looking into killifish and there were too many cool ones to pick just one.
Haven't kept kilifish, so I will just say dwarf neon rainbows only because they were the only ones who displayed some trippy breeding behaviors in the morning. Any recommendations on kilifish? I'm curious lol
Love your channel! Will you do a fish tank review on Father Fishes 20+ year old tank he never cleans? He says the fish eat the poop. He says he doesn't clean it or do water changes. The water looks clear...
I don't know about the fish eating the poop haha cuz fish don't rly do that! The plants do, gardeners and farmers have been using poop and manure for eons! It's the Walstad method, by Diana Walstad, having lots of plants in the tank and not many fish, I do the same, no water changes needed!
@FishForThought Well the only time I have seen fish eat poop they immediately spit it out. lol I only recently became familiar with the Walsted method. I am doing it, everything except I still am changing out small amounts of water frequently. Due to paranoia.
QOTW I actually know nothing about fish and I don’t even have a fish tank I just watch because I like hearing you talk about fish. Sooooo my favorite rainbow fish is the rainbow ones? I guess lol
I don't know anything about killifish or rainbowfish. I'm super new to the hobby and I'm still planning my first tank (chili rasporas and cherry shrimp).
No more floor gang! It’s great to see the tanks back on a stand, even if it’s just temporary. QOTW: My favorite killifish is the Clown Killi, their coloration is striking and they can be kept in smaller tanks. Chris, if you’re seeing this, is Pashy okay?
I just wanna thank you for your videos because I have one guppy (Mr. Sponge) and I really wanna get him in a bigger tank with more guppies and snails with live plants and more.
QOTW: I haven't kept them, but I adore blue pearl killis! A dream. Someday. My favorite rainbow fish are Emeralds! They're so flashy and fun. Mine would let me know they were hungry by flashing yellow on their heads. Rainbows are so underrated
Least Killifish - although it is not actually, a killifish or related to killifish. It is closer related to guppies, platys, etc. Also, the worlds smallest live bearing fish AND instead of being pregnant and having a litter of fry born, instead, they have MULTIPLE pregnancies all at the same time. Having up to 9!! Pregnancies at once. They will give birth to 1-2 fry, every 2ish weeks. They are somewhat bland, but they’re also a AMAZING nano fish. Staying under 1” long. They are incredibly fascinating and close to one of my favorite fish in the whole hobby, right under peacock gudgen, which I’d say counts as a rainbow fish.
As for QOTW, I need to know why you hate killifish. I put rocket kilifish in my shrimp tank to deal with a hydra outbreak and since that they're probably some of my favorite fish.
@FishForThought Made me question everything I believe. Seems im full of it. Found out that corydoras and tilapia may eat fish poop, but it is not wide spread. Confusing my fish lore with dog lore
Yeah bro recently the PetCo in my area especially has had fancier bettas for sale (alien for example) and I’m like WHENNNN cuz for a while there they didn’t even have Koi bettas, and then suddenly they’re going plakats and all lol
I was at better pets & gardens (our version petsmart in australia) and i was so happy they were keeping bettas in 10 gallons like all their other fish! But one swam up to me and I wanted to buy him to make sure he doesn't go into a kid's bowl or something but I didn't have any spare cycled tanks 😢 hopefully he goes to a good home Btw,i wonder if there's a such thing as a long fin female 🤔

Gotta shout out Frank's Bettas as an ethical breeder, he puts his profits into efforts to conserve wild betta species and he only sells short-finned bettas from strains he developed himself.
Favorite Killifish? I would have to go with the Norman's Lampeye Killifish, A school of these silly guys peering at me in the dark is A+ jumpscare material.
great choice
I'm glad birb is doing good!
Never had a killifish, but some day would like to have a golden wonder killifish. I think they are beautiful!
In both cases, it seems they obsessively cleaned brown algae
Is that the pattern with pleco that they are gluttons for brown algae?
hmmm true!
I like otos. They are great for keeping plants clean.
I don't know much about many fish. So, I'm not sure I can answer the QOTW. Let's say the Golden Topminnow. Native to the US. Found this info on Wikipedia. Thank you for the Video Chris.
7:04 got me cackling 😂
omg I got a jumpscare seeing my city apparently shipping shrimp? Wait, we have a shrimp supplier here? I've been buying mine online, I'm gonna go looking for this place now lmao
I just set up a new fish tank and I am choosing to buy convict sickelets. How many convicts can I fit in a 125 liter tank?
As for rainbowfish I've never really kept any, but the Lake Kutubu Rainbowfish has always been an interesting one
yeah ikr it's CRAZY don't they know there's freakin live animals in there wth
I like fish in general and I think it would hurt their feelings to choose a favorite.
haha Iunno if they will ever know that xD
QotW:I don't know my killifish, but my goal for when I'm able to keep fish again is to eventually have threadfin rainbows. I also really like spotted blue-eyes which seem to be within the rainbowfish family?
Hey chris bro just to let you know
I hope you are doing well , the amount of work you put in the videos is mind blowing 🤯 i mean you craziest passionate fish keeper we wanted and we we got you
You inspiration for people like me that sometimes think i dont want change water but mind reminds of you and your dedication towards this even though you fighting with earthquakes right ?
❤from india 🇮🇳
hey thanks so much my friend
@@FishForThought ❤️
Do a review of saltwater aquariums
That penguin was actually searching for death ,they go out their to die once they feel they have no purpose .
QOTW: Lyretail Killifish, Eggers Killifish, and Blackfin Pearl Killifish. Had to pick 3 cuz it's my first time really looking into killifish and there were too many cool ones to pick just one.
QOTW: Steel Blue Killifish. We got some in at the shop and they just keep making babies. Super cute
@FishForThought Well the only time I have seen fish eat poop they immediately spit it out. lol
I only recently became familiar with the Walsted method.
I guess lol
Have you done before and after videos? I would love to see some of those!
My favorite killifish are Clown killifish. I keep a species only tank and keep hoping I’ll see little babies soon!
I think I'll go with the rocket killifish as my choice, planning to set up a dedicated shallow tank for them.
Also, where is rapashi???
I don't know anything about killifish or rainbowfish. I'm super new to the hobby and I'm still planning my first tank (chili rasporas and cherry shrimp).
No more floor gang! It’s great to see the tanks back on a stand, even if it’s just temporary. QOTW: My favorite killifish is the Clown Killi, their coloration is striking and they can be kept in smaller tanks. Chris, if you’re seeing this, is Pashy okay?
pashy and milly are thriving at my parent's place haha they don't even knwo there was a fire!
That’s great to hear, I’ve been worried about them.
I just wanna thank you for your videos because I have one guppy (Mr. Sponge) and I really wanna get him in a bigger tank with more guppies and snails with live plants and more.
hope you do get it!
QOTW: I haven't kept them, but I adore blue pearl killis! A dream. Someday.
My favorite rainbow fish are Emeralds! They're so flashy and fun. Mine would let me know they were hungry by flashing yellow on their heads. Rainbows are so underrated
hope you get to one day!
QOTW: Ah man. I've never kept killifish, but they always look so cool.
Quick unrelated question, if I buy my own ftr, can I submit 2 tanks or do I have to buy 2?
There’s a cleaning company at the co op refinery in Regina called pleco janitorial ……. So many people never knew the real truth !
Least Killifish - although it is not actually, a killifish or related to killifish. It is closer related to guppies, platys, etc.
Also, the worlds smallest live bearing fish
AND instead of being pregnant and having a litter of fry born, instead, they have MULTIPLE pregnancies all at the same time.
My favorite killifish is the lyretail killifish, I love the orange
Happy FFTday everyone! Have a great week 😀
As for QOTW, I need to know why you hate killifish.
I put rocket kilifish in my shrimp tank to deal with a hydra outbreak and since that they're probably some of my favorite fish.
First! Gonna be a great vid as always💪
tyty!
Fish eat each other's poop, sometimes up to 3 to 4 times. Not all nutrients are able to be pulled from food the first go around...
I never seen fish actually eat and keep the poop in their mouths, they eat and spit
@FishForThought Made me question everything I believe. Seems im full of it. Found out that corydoras and tilapia may eat fish poop, but it is not wide spread. Confusing my fish lore with dog lore
9:30 why did the pleco cross the road
Yeah bro recently the PetCo in my area especially has had fancier bettas for sale (alien for example) and I’m like WHENNNN cuz for a while there they didn’t even have Koi bettas, and then suddenly they’re going plakats and all lol
100% on the dont buy fish from chain stores! Chris brings the truth
I was at better pets & gardens (our version petsmart in australia) and i was so happy they were keeping bettas in 10 gallons like all their other fish! But one swam up to me and I wanted to buy him to make sure he doesn't go into a kid's bowl or something but I didn't have any spare cycled tanks 😢 hopefully he goes to a good home
Btw,i wonder if there's a such thing as a long fin female 🤔
