I seldom make anything that spurious holes wouldn't spoil or even ruin. Clamping a couple of stops to the bench and tapping the assembly against them, tapping from the side and front, would be my preference for that situation. jus' sayin'
Thanks for sharing, Sean! That is a good solution! Drilling holes into the work piece isn’t always the right answer!

Hi...... You make hole anther work because drilling I think you put the glue and wait 2-3 minutes before you put them together thanks for you
Use salt on the glue...they won't move when clamped...just a small amount.
I wonder if that weakens the glue joint?
@@lastingbuild1373 I've been doing it for 30(+) years and still have things I made in 1974 holding strong. Learned it from my grandpa.
Good to know!!👍

@@lastingbuild1373 Not in the least, it's an old trick that has allowed hole less glue ups for generations....
For most scenarios this must rank as a method of last resort. Old standby of salt works very well and does not mar any of the surface/oversized material with final trim after glue up also works. Obviously your suggested method works but introduces another couple of steps in finished product plus it could result in needless cosmetic reparations that oftentimes never revert to the original grain pattern etc of the finished surface
Great idea Jim

Never seen anything so rediculous
I've used the salt method, but my prefered method is to make my peices oversized then cut them down to my end size after the glue up. Obviously this technique can't be used all the time.
Great tip, dude! Thanks a lot! 😊
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you!
As simple as adding a little salt between layers. IMHO
If you hit nails into the bench touching the ply on all sides your gluing then clamp
no holes in your workpiece

Must have learned this tip from Julia Childs
