Love the fashions decor cardboard sets with cardboard characters...that kept actors in jobs, still had that cultural cringe with enunciated tones from ac-toors 😮 most speaking very proper though they didn't hug the camera like most TV actors do now, it was a different less permissive time that was experiencing change, it feels less slick than TV today, pace lighting language attention spans have all changed & plausibility was less an issue than now.
My aunty (well mum’s cousin) was Judy McBurney. Just watching to see her. Otherwise bit cringey but I’m sure in 50 years our grandkids will say the same 😅
This was mercilessly parodied in the "All New Alexei Sayle Show" sketches featuring "Psycho Ward 11". Jean Marsh even had the same hat as Cornelia Frances here.
My first experience of Australian TV was Skippy ..but I was nineteen when the young doctors was shown in the UK also followed the Sullivan's, sons and daughters , prisoner cell block H.. country practice, heartbreak high shortland street, the flying doctors ..neighbours and home and away The Aussies produce brilliant dramas ..❤
As an Aussie watching The Sullivans was special because it really gave a good glimpse into what families went through during the war years down here. A much loved series here
Totally agree, they used to cater for what the majority of audiences wanted to see but nowadays, especially the BBC, their target aidience is minority groups & causes & political or preaching and tick boxing instead of pure entertainment, which is why, as a Brit, I have gone hunting for all things Australian!

Some of these episodes were shown in the UK back in the early 80's. I'm sure I saw Clare Binney in an episode, but her entry in IMDb doesn't list anything for this series. I think the series holds up quite well for a series that made so long ago. Nurse Adams is a lovely looking lass.
