I’m so proud to see many Malaysian Native Species at the zoo! Malayan Tiger, Malayan Sun Bear, Binturong, Rhinoceros Hornbill, Malayan Tapir, Siamang and Small Clawed Otter. Very nice Virginia Zoo.
Thanks for uploading it I love seeing how different all the zoos you show are difrent and that they all have amazing designs to they're encloseers and they're own unique collection of animals
I hope I get to see these majestic animals someday, very cool video. Also I see a tapir kind of like a hippo which makes sense as their distantly related.
That is Scruffy. Muffin was one of the original inhabitants of that exhibit. She retired and moved behind the scenes in 2009 because of skin cancer. Her cancer went into remission. She died in 2015.
Ringo and Muffin both had glaucoma. That was another reason for Muffin’s retirement. Scruffy might have sight issues. I am not sure. She did climb some at Akron, but she usually slept. She is really old for a sun bear.
William McEwen yes a worker said she is almost blind she will die in a couple years and turns that’s another zoo that won’t get them back unfortunately she’s never out at Cleveland its always 1 exibit for sloth and2 for Andean she won’t live long enough too get her new home in Cleveland in 5-7 years hopefully they will get them back because if they did they could do a wilds of Asia phase 2 with sun and sloth bears and maybe they could do a 2nd expedition Peru somewhere else in the park
I have some questions, Zach 1. Will you ever be covering the Dallas World Aquarium or the San Francisco Zoo? 2. What is your opinion on octopuses and squid? 3. This isn't a question but I love the thumbnails! 4. Will you do more videos about former animal exhibits? Have a nice day Zach! :)
My name is josh gimple. I’m a huge fan of your videos. I used to work at the Columbus zoo as a volunteer in high school and want to be a reptile zookeeper some day. I live right behind the hills in heart of Africa. I can hear the lions in my backyard. I would love to take you to the Columbus zoo sometime
Trivia Answer from the Trail of the Tiger: The Smithsonian National Zoo was the first zoo in the U.S in 1960, when the zoo displayed a white tiger named Mohini Rewa, who lived there between 1960 to 1979.
In England, there are three zoos that house sun bears which are Colchester zoo, Chester zoo and Hertfordshire zoo. Chester zoo has managed to successfully breed their sun bears and their cub was fairly recently, moved to Hertfordshire zoo along with a male and they're wanting to try and breed them.
Egad! Wish they also featured Sambar Deer, sloth bears, Indian Rhinos, water buffaloes, binturongs, chital deer, & Komodo Dragons in it. Try visiting the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, Woodland Park Zoo, SeaWorld San Diego, San Francisco Zoo, Oakland Zoo, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Disney's Animal Kingdom, & Sacramento Zoo sooner or later in future zoo episodes! Procrastination plays a major factor but the three things that add to 'production' time: writing, making sure I have enough words to match the length of footage I have per animal. Fluidity isn't easy either, I need the perfect last sentence to end whatever subject I'm talking about to make it sound like a true presentation. Music, the most important part. Setting the tone to keep the viewer awake, but finding scores for intros takes forever - which is why it's the first thing I do. Lastly, placing the footage to match what I say and deciding the order of the clips. Sounds easy but it isn't when let's say you have 15 similar shots of the same animal. If I worked on these every night without distractions, an episode would probably take a week and a half to make.
It seems 99% of the time it's because a species doesn't breed frequently enough for the AZA to be able to give recommendations. A low population would also lead to a majority of the animals being related to each other
From my understanding from those more knowledgeable on the subject, it's essentially their way of giving up on breeding or managing the species because the task proves to be too difficult/ will never work out.

Like seeing Zoos like Virginia that sometimes get overlooked get toured.

I love your channel dude, hope you are doing well.
I saw the tiger brothers up close when they were young! My uncle use to work at the zoo so I and my family got to see them fed up close as newborns.
I love the exhibits that incorporate architectural/cultural elements from the places they're meant to represent.
Fun Fact: Bearcats are usually called binturongs. Even though you may have known that
new that, but thank you my dude
And fun fact : Binturong poop smells like popcorn!
@yong gun choi. Thank toy

Very nice Trail, well done Virginia
Another great episode. I’m hooked on this series. Well done!
You should DEFINITELY go to the Potawatomi Zoo in South Bend. Mabey when they get the lions or bears by next year but it's a nice place.

Answer: Smithsonian National Zoo (1960)

Very nice job on the video 🐯🐯
Great zoo great tour
On Netflix there is a documentary call the Okavango Delta and I loved it hopefully Virginia Zoo is the same.
Nicely done good job
What an incredible exhibit, I was just wondering how long do these videos take to edit? I'm guessing quite a while!
Procrastination plays a major factor but the three things that add to 'production' time: writing, making sure I have enough words to match the length of footage I have per animal. Zoo Tours Wow, didn’t realise how much you have to do, that’s dedication! 👍
Do you know why Sun bears are being removed from AZA zoos?
YAY!
Are you going to do a tour of Roo Valley at the Cincinnati zoo?
Just filmed it yesterday:)
I love zoo tour
Would you like to one day videos about the Attica Zoological park?
I am asking because you can say its my local zoo and the only one i have been to.
8k good job
When are you going to the san diego zoo safari park to see platypuses?
Can u upload a video of roo valley in Cincinnati zoo plsss.
Sun bear,Moon bear and Sloth bear are vulnerable
So do you know why the AZA is phasing out asiatic black bears and sun bears?
It seems 99% of the time it's because a species doesn't breed frequently enough for the AZA to be able to give recommendations. A low population would also lead to a majority of the animals being related to each other
Makes a lot of sense when you put it that way.
Hopefully with more research maybe things could change.
Brothers young enough to go to Cincinnati
What does being phased out AZA mean? And why do they ever decide to do that for an animal?
From my understanding from those more knowledgeable on the subject, it's essentially their way of giving up on breeding or managing the species because the task proves to be too difficult/ will never work out.
So when are u Gunna make the savanna part of the zoo?
Okavango Delta was supposed to be Episode 97, but almost half of the animals are missing - so I'm probably just going to cancel it.
Yea I went to the zoo today and they had most of the animals off exhibit
