    Today I realized an unbelievable situation, I realized that all the engineers have been lying all my life and they are all crooks. We've been told for years that there's no difference between daw software, null tests have been done, but there really is a difference between daws, and I want you to prove it to the whole world, Paul. I'm using samplitude, so (sequoia brother) I used to work in pro tools cubase and studio one. But the recording quality feels different in this program, it plays softer when I play music. Please take a proof video of this and you should disgrace all the dishonest engineers.

    • @PaulThird
      @PaulThird  Год назад +5

      Bro.. I can't argue with null tests haha if you think I can disprove solid science.. I can't.
      The nulls are never full nulls, but measure inaudible. You are talking like below -100dbfs!!
      Maybe samplitude has a bug but tbh I never heard of samplitude being included in DAW null tests
      Tbh you are the first person I can recall talking to that uses it 🤷‍♂️

      @@PaulThirdSamplitude is not a known daw, sequoia is generally known. But they both belong to the same company, there is no difference between them. I suggest you to be curious and browse or look at the forum pages one day, you will see thousands of people who think like me. Samplitude sounds really sonic, the song sounds interestingly wide and very sharp. I hope you'll be curious and look at it someday. Even if you don't believe in yourself, I believe in you. I've been following you for years. There is no one who proves that all companies know their software better than you. i just believe what you say. You should think about what I'm saying, I really think there's a difference. I hear with my ear. Just as not every equalizer is the same, not every daw software is the same. If you believe this, I think you will prove it and expose the lies of all the engineers, remember, everything happens with self-confidence. I've been trusting you since the first day. I am waiting for you to have confidence in yourself and make a video, of course, someday you will do it, I am full of hope. i recommend downloading sequoia or samplitude and taking a look. I'm sorry if I've made you uncomfortable.

    It's funny, I bought and tried out BB tubes from Waves didn't really find it useful. Oddly enough it comes with a thing called little BB tubes that has less features. It is now one of my favorite things to use on guitars to dirty them up a bit. It actually works good for that. Instead of using an overdrive you can crank up that one knob to taste and get some nice saturation actually

      I found a way to not rely on it as much as it was bringing up the room reverb which I don't like.

    Hi Paul, I enjoy the videos. I'm mainly doing songwriting and use minimal plugs (not serious mixing), but wanted to mention a couple: For guitar/bass amp captures the NAM Neural Amp Modeler (open source project by Steve Ack) is definitely worth checking out. It is top notch when paired with good captures and has a great community. It's almost all I use for my guitars now. The other one when mixing the HG-2 is good to put on mixes to fatten things up for my use. Not a real professional use, but I find it handy and like how it sounds. all the best,

    Bass with no dynamics. That sounds... boring. I realize a lot of bass punch comes from the arrangement with the kick, but i generally like it to sound punchy on its own too.

    • @PaulThird
      @PaulThird  Год назад +1

      Well visually it looks very rounded and flat from the waveform. That's what I meant. I find baselines that are too dynamic can sound uncontrolled and which throws off the groove. I like the bass to sit in a pocket so the low end is consistent.
      If the low end isnt well controlled it'll throw off the timing of your limiter but each to their own though

    • @sparella

    @PaulThird This is great. I think it would be very cool if you did a follow up on the KIT plugins with todays versions and see where they stand these years later. That would give them a shot at redemption and let the rest of us see if Kit are or are not worth considering. I know you're pressed for time and don't know if Kit even deserve that opportunity, but I think it would be a good thing to do, for a number of reasons. As for Waves, if anyone is still buying Waves plugins, then they kind of deserve what they get.

    • @PaulThird
      @PaulThird  Год назад +2

      Nah KIT had their chance. Wouldn't trust those boys to release any plugin that was properly modelled.
      The lengths that they went to in order to hide and disguise mo-Q's failings was enough for me to keep them in the trash pile.
      They don't have a clue what they are doing tbh but know how to market

So, I too went on a Need Preamp Orgy , on my first mix with them . . . Now I have calmed down and use them more discreetly and sparingly . . . It, intersting how the Preamps are Tuned to their respective Consoles . . . Same with the Lindell 80 Bus . . . So, i can pop in the Trilogy, and quickly see how a 73 or 84 would harmonize woth the sound source . . . Then I can leave it there alone, add a console, or replace it with a console . . . So, I am thrilled to have thise in my locker . . . Yet, , it's also fun to pull out the Kirchoff . . . Then put a Neve Bell at 3.2k, a Maag air band high shelf, with a Pultec lLow Shelf , . . . Throw in an SSL E someyhing, somewhere . . . The Cenozoix will be saving me a ton of time, and loads of CPU relieff . . . And it will save me loads of rack space in my mixer, as well . . . !?@y@?!

      Depends on the content tbh. My waves bb tubes video did 40k which has been my best since that 70k video where I tore into that "the truth about audio plugins" video.
      My arsehole moments have mostly gotten great views but I've seen more consistency with the educational content.
      Subs wise no matter what I do I can't get the heights I would like but that's probably due to being so polarising and not glamorising myself as a "PRO". Unfortunately subs wise you need a monster hit (100k+) or to fake your credentials and make yourself look bigger than what you actually are.
      Subs mean fuck all though as I can get just as much views as guys with 100k+ subs

      Never worried about it as its not really meant to do anything. Almost like an overshoot/safety net for high frequencies. Jaycen said it himself that it should hardly be showing anything. Treat that almost like a visual to know if you've got too much high end.
