I loved metroid fusion, was a lot more linear but the story IMO was great and the atmosphere that they built really impact me as a player, i genuinely felt scared at points in this game.
I love my games to be linear. Open world is a powerful ingredient that needs to be used sparingly and is abused nowadays. I don’t have all damn day to deal with open world figuring shit out. I’m just here for the ride and need to be able to play comfortably thru a game. We have lives and not all the time in the world to waste on a game we can’t figure out

Plus what they’re talking about (Samus and adams relationship) is portrayed horribly and they don’t have a good relationship but in fusion they made it seem way better than what it was

Samus has SINGLE-HANDEDLY been responsible for the destruction of no fewer than 3 planets by this point in time. I think the Federation can look at that statistic and decide, "yeah. Maybe we won't prosecute."
I feel like SA-X would also talk, in a distorted version of Samus' voice, just saying creepy things while you hide and hope that it doesn't find you. It knows you can hear it, and it knows you're defenseless against it, so all you can do is hide and hope it doesn't see you.

+Restricted The Corde No. SA-X has varia suit. She is the fully powered Samus from Super Metroid. The one you get in the game was another varia suit but an X stole it. The unnamed suit is the suit you get once you retrieve the ice beam after the SA-X is destroyed by the Omega Metroid.
Picture a kid who had never seen much of Nintendo. Then picture the Gameboy being this kids Christmas present with a beautiful title by the name of Metroid Fusion. And later the next year his bday present is a GameCube-- along with Wind Waker, and Mario Sunshine. I wasn't much of a gamer. But these three games solidified my status with them forever. Metroid Fusion TO THIS VERY DAY still plays, looks, sounds, and feels amazing. And nostalgia aside, I get that people didn't like the "mission based scenario" but at the time I never played any games like Metroid, so I honestly didn't care, in fact I'm more invested in Metroid's story than anything and the previous titles before Fusion had very little to offer unless you had manuals with you. I get that a lot of people whine about the difficulty spike toward the end but I never noticed it, mostly because I was no speedrunner/upgrade retrieval expert. But nowadays I think I'd be more than well off. Damn, I love me some Metroid 4...
Me too, this was my first Metroid- and I love it. Can't deside if I like Zero Mission more. Love them both. I hope next 2D Metroid will be Pixelart again.
After the first two Metroids, it was this game and Super Metroid that really stood out as giving a very epic, vague, and creepy feeling to them. Its what made this and Super Metroid probably one of the best games in the Metroid series.
I remember playing this game in kindergarten and being terrified to go any further in it. I picked it back up when I was a freshman in high school after discovering the cartridge and I slapped it back on to my game boy micro, and I was blown away by how much fun the game played. I loved it so much I played it over and over and beat it again and again. I think I’ve replayed it like 12 times since then. God I love Metroid. One day I’m going to get Metroid dread, because I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. I played the demo. It was everything I hoped it would be…
All those secrets i never got when i played this years ago. I'm glad somebody showed me what i missed out on, especially the sexy Samus picture at the end. Great job!
I really enjoy the sounds of the monsters in this game. Because of the GBA’s increased capabilities with graphics and sound, they were able to give these creatures more realistic sounding screeches than in previous games. I especially love the Ridley-X one. Ridley-X is basically an abomination of Ridley’s race that the X changed specifically to be able to exterminate creatures more efficiently than Ridley’s normal race ever could on their own. They took it upon themselves to take this creature and morph it to their liking. Notice how the X not only made it bigger but also increased it’s claw size and made it’s head smaller (probably meaning they made it’s brain smaller). They purposely decreased the head size because this isn’t a natural creature with instinct and intelligence. It’s a monster created with the intent to only do one thing, kill. So a complex brain isn’t required. What follows this abomination unto nature is a horrific, more realistic screech that’ll send chills down your spine as you fight it... or burst your ear drums. Either one.
The fucking spider one. When there’s no saves anywhere near. Then right after you beat it you run into SA-X. With no recharge rooms or anything since the ship. Unless you execute it perfectly you can’t do it. Just quit playing and I’m not coming back, screw this game
I absolutely loved this game. Its probably my favorite Metroid game of all time. The creepy atmosphere and that constant feeling of fear caused by the music and the SA-X makes this game stand on its own. I hope Nintendo one day decides to revisit this game and possibly remake it with updated graphics. I'm pretty sure it would sell really well.

My first Metroid game. I'll admit, I wasn't too impressed when I first played it. But as time went on, and the more Metroid games I played, the more I truly enjoy this game as well as the series in general. Its a truly amazing series!

I wrote a fanfic that takes place after Fusion that retcons Other M out and places the Prime Trilogy between Super and Fusion. I also redesigned Samus underneath the suit, giving her a scar, dirty hair, and a tattoo of the Screw Attack symbol on her back. I also completely overhauled the Zero Suit, making it navy blue coveralls with a brown jacket and white boots and underneath that is the black bikini from Super Metroid.
Andres Acosta samus just doesnt seem like the kind of lady who would give a shit about ascetics, so her having a tattoo seems kinda(no offence) dumb. Also, why does the zero suit need to be difftent? And why does it need to be like that?
I still love how the SA-X reacts to Samus. It tries to freezes you, and then shoots you with a super missile. Because that's how you would kill a Metroids.

For me it was the other way around... I played this one first and after this one I craved more of the same :p More Metroid but similar to this, I started to play Super Metroid and I was almost immediately bored. It was much less story driven and after half an hour I just quit... This one is one of my favorite GBA games of all time :D I loved the story telling and the creepy moments, fucking awesome :p especially when you encounter your double, holy shit as a kid I was so scared lol

I like how this fits in after Metroid 3, because at the beginning, it said: "Nintendo Presents METROID 4: METROID FUSION" And at the end of the game it shows the animals from Planet Zebes! I like the text that pops up after you enter the Operations Room, it says the following: "Orbit change implemented. 3 minutes to impact."
This was my first Metroid, for game boy advance. My mind was blown by how good this game was. I knew the saga, but never played it. This is one of those cases where less is better. Less is more. This game was very simple and yet it was FILLED with contents, the story is very strong (actually better than Dread if you ask me) and the fake Samus chasing you is terrific. Just remember that this game is 20 years old.
This is and will always be a great and excellent game in the Metroid series. There's no room for complaints that it doesn't play like the old classic ones, when technology is far and beyond since the past years. Wanting everything to be the same gives and shows no signs of a game moving and evolving forward with new mechanics and newer features. Can't be living in the past forever.
Not sure what that Fusion hate in the description is all about. This is my favorite Metroid game, easily. No other game in the series provides the level of atmosphere and buildup that this game gives, with such eerie enemies as Nightmare and the SA-X. Whenever you're in Nightmare's area on a first playthrough, it gives a sense of foreboding, and they keep you suspenseful about that area until near the end of the game. Then there's the fact that you're hunted throughout the game by full-power Samus clones, making every empty room feel dangerous (since they have a tendency to show up after you enter a room with no enemies). Then there's the security robot, too, which appears out of nowhere in areas that don't really look much like boss arenas. There isn't much of the element of blind exploration in Fusion, which is admittedly what the Metroid series as a whole is primarily about, but that is replaced with the thrill of trying to survive in a locked-down facility when everything's actively trying to kill you. Most of the bosses go out of their way to find and attack you, and something's constantly happening to keep you on your toes. There aren't any other Metroid games I can think of that really make you feel weak and hunted. Perhaps this means Fusion is likely for people with different preferences, but I certainly wouldn't call it any worse than Super Metroid.
Nope. Adam states that there are at least 10 SA-X roaming around the BSL actively searching for you. That's why you see one of those die at the Metroid's preservation area, and then you fight another one near endgame.
While I agree with what you said in the description about this game, my one big complaint with this game is that it's idea of game play is being linear as all hell. Fusion in it's own sense took some of the fun out of the Metroid series and FORCED the player to do specific things in a sequence. It's like what Egoraptor said in his Sequelitis about Legend of Zelda, "You're no longer exploring a world, you're being taken on a tour. You're no longer a pioneered adventurer, you're a guest at Disney Land.". I feel that if Nintendo left Fusions style of game play and story events in Super Metroids style, this game would have been a TON better, but the fact that you can still sequence break SOME things in the game, be it by normal game play or TAS, the game won't count the sequence break until you've done your objective marked out for you. But that's not to say I didn't enjoy Fusion, it was honestly my very first GBA game, and I STILL have it. So either way, this was a very good game and I hope Nintendo will look back and try another Metroid game to (maybe) make up for Other M considering the back lash it got.
This game did an amazing job. The Culmination of Metroid/Metroid 2/Super Metroid/ and the prime games. A return to the roots of Metroid with that awesome SNES feel. Just amazing and that soundtrack and sound design is fantastic in this game.
I just completed Fusion after having played the other 2D metroids for the first time as well and all I'm wondering is why the hell I didn't get into the series earlier! Super stoked for Metroid Dread now, I'll play the prime trilogy when Prime 4 gets formally revealed.

man I can totally see Samus becoming a kick ass rogue agent fighting against an army of X that somehow survived, that were somehow taken and preserved by some scientists somewhere. I can see another game being taken not on some alien world, but through human colonies and military bases.

I absolutely adore the style of this game it manages to be retro but not clunky, it has slow moments but not slow enough to get boring, and fast paced action but not so fast that it becomes hard to comprehend, truly one of the best gba games and possibly one of the best games period
I actually enjoyed playing this game, considering it was my first metroid game. Only problem was that the copy I had was faulty and would erase my progress after the power is turned off for more than 6 seconds. The only thing I could do was constantly put the GBA into sleep mode and be quick on the draw for swapping out the batteries. xD Those were still good times though.

I get that a lot of people whine about the difficulty spike toward the end but I never noticed it, mostly because I was no speedrunner/upgrade retrieval expert. But nowadays I think I'd be more than well off. Damn, I love me some Metroid 4...

After the first two Metroids, it was this game and Super Metroid that really stood out as giving a very epic, vague, and creepy feeling to them. Its what made this and Super Metroid probably one of the best games in the Metroid series.

I remember playing this game in kindergarten and being terrified to go any further in it. I picked it back up when I was a freshman in high school after discovering the cartridge and I slapped it back on to my game boy micro, and I was blown away by how much fun the game played. I loved it so much I played it over and over and beat it again and again. I think I’ve replayed it like 12 times since then. God I love Metroid. One day I’m going to get Metroid dread, because I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. I played the demo. It was everything I hoped it would be…

Fusion is a masterpiece. Other M... not a very good game. Thankfully, it's just a spinoff. It's not even a numbered entry.
fusion is my favorite metroid game in the series hands down. i just love how it uses the original formula in a creative and creepier way
I really enjoy the sounds of the monsters in this game. Because of the GBA’s increased capabilities with graphics and sound, they were able to give these creatures more realistic sounding screeches than in previous games. I especially love the Ridley-X one.
Ridley-X is basically an abomination of Ridley’s race that the X changed specifically to be able to exterminate creatures more efficiently than Ridley’s normal race ever could on their own. They took it upon themselves to take this creature and morph it to their liking. Notice how the X not only made it bigger but also increased it’s claw size and made it’s head smaller (probably meaning they made it’s brain smaller). They purposely decreased the head size because this isn’t a natural creature with instinct and intelligence. It’s a monster created with the intent to only do one thing, kill. So a complex brain isn’t required.
What follows this abomination unto nature is a horrific, more realistic screech that’ll send chills down your spine as you fight it... or burst your ear drums. Either one.

I had no idea there were that many upgrades. I beat it with about half of the energy and rockets shown here which made it much more difficult.

I struggled with nightmare
The fucking spider one. When there’s no saves anywhere near. Then right after you beat it you run into SA-X. With no recharge rooms or anything since the ship. Unless you execute it perfectly you can’t do it. Just quit playing and I’m not coming back, screw this game

I absolutely loved this game. Its probably my favorite Metroid game of all time. The creepy atmosphere and that constant feeling of fear caused by the music and the SA-X makes this game stand on its own.
I hope Nintendo one day decides to revisit this game and possibly remake it with updated graphics. I'm pretty sure it would sell really well.
I just hope they re-release it along with Zero Mission and Super Metroid for Switch.

In recent replays, I can do the shinespark up, sideways and diagonal, but the holding for a lot of walking, jumping and running...still no good.

Adam was a much cooler concept of a character in Fusion until we actually met him in Other M... Then I was like, "Ehhhh..."
I wrote a fanfic that takes place after Fusion that retcons Other M out and places the Prime Trilogy between Super and Fusion. I also redesigned Samus underneath the suit, giving her a scar, dirty hair, and a tattoo of the Screw Attack symbol on her back. I also completely overhauled the Zero Suit, making it navy blue coveralls with a brown jacket and white boots and underneath that is the black bikini from Super Metroid.

I still love how the SA-X reacts to Samus. It tries to freezes you, and then shoots you with a super missile. Because that's how you would kill a Metroids.

I like how this fits in after Metroid 3, because at the beginning, it said: "Nintendo Presents METROID 4: METROID FUSION" And at the end of the game it shows the animals from Planet Zebes! I like the text that pops up after you enter the Operations Room, it says the following: "Orbit change implemented. 3 minutes to impact."
This is a very good Metroid Fusion walkthrough. I really like it.
It needs a lot of Improvement, though.

This is one of those cases where less is better. Less is more.
This game was very simple and yet it was FILLED with contents, the story is very strong (actually better than Dread if you ask me) and the fake Samus chasing you is terrific.
Just remember that this game is 20 years old.

This is and will always be a great and excellent game in the Metroid series. There's no room for complaints that it doesn't play like the old classic ones, when technology is far and beyond since the past years. Wanting everything to be the same gives and shows no signs of a game moving and evolving forward with new mechanics and newer features.

Not sure what that Fusion hate in the description is all about. This is my favorite Metroid game, easily. No other game in the series provides the level of atmosphere and buildup that this game gives, with such eerie enemies as Nightmare and the SA-X. Whenever you're in Nightmare's area on a first playthrough, it gives a sense of foreboding, and they keep you suspenseful about that area until near the end of the game. Then there's the fact that you're hunted throughout the game by full-power Samus clones, making every empty room feel dangerous (since they have a tendency to show up after you enter a room with no enemies). Then there's the security robot, too, which appears out of nowhere in areas that don't really look much like boss arenas.
There isn't much of the element of blind exploration in Fusion, which is admittedly what the Metroid series as a whole is primarily about, but that is replaced with the thrill of trying to survive in a locked-down facility when everything's actively trying to kill you. Most of the bosses go out of their way to find and attack you, and something's constantly happening to keep you on your toes. There aren't any other Metroid games I can think of that really make you feel weak and hunted. Perhaps this means Fusion is likely for people with different preferences, but I certainly wouldn't call it any worse than Super Metroid.

Nope. Adam states that there are at least 10 SA-X roaming around the BSL actively searching for you. That's why you see one of those die at the Metroid's preservation area, and then you fight another one near endgame.

I don't think many people notice this, but they went through the trouble of giving Samus a sprite for going up and down elevators.
While I agree with what you said in the description about this game, my one big complaint with this game is that it's idea of game play is being linear as all hell. Fusion in it's own sense took some of the fun out of the Metroid series and FORCED the player to do specific things in a sequence. It's like what Egoraptor said in his Sequelitis about Legend of Zelda, "You're no longer exploring a world, you're being taken on a tour. You're no longer a pioneered adventurer, you're a guest at Disney Land.". I feel that if Nintendo left Fusions style of game play and story events in Super Metroids style, this game would have been a TON better, but the fact that you can still sequence break SOME things in the game, be it by normal game play or TAS, the game won't count the sequence break until you've done your objective marked out for you.
But that's not to say I didn't enjoy Fusion, it was honestly my very first GBA game, and I STILL have it. So either way, this was a very good game and I hope Nintendo will look back and try another Metroid game to (maybe) make up for Other M considering the back lash it got.
This game did an amazing job. The Culmination of Metroid/Metroid 2/Super Metroid/ and the prime games. A return to the roots of Metroid with that awesome SNES feel. Just amazing and that soundtrack and sound design is fantastic in this game.

If you think about it, the SA-X is just a metroid 2 player finishing its mission, by eradicating the last metroid, samus.

I absolutely adore the style of this game it manages to be retro but not clunky, it has slow moments but not slow enough to get boring, and fast paced action but not so fast that it becomes hard to comprehend, truly one of the best gba games and possibly one of the best games period
I actually enjoyed playing this game, considering it was my first metroid game. Only problem was that the copy I had was faulty and would erase my progress after the power is turned off for more than 6 seconds. The only thing I could do was constantly put the GBA into sleep mode and be quick on the draw for swapping out the batteries. xD Those were still good times though.
