    • @rextetron

      Yeah, you can make up seconds when launching properly and shifting almost flat without loosing boost in the middle of the shift. I can make my remapped S40 T5 AWD manual to go 0-60 around 6,1s if everything goes nicely, but if I shift like these guys it will be similar numbers, like high 7 secs or low 8s 0-60.
      For the Shifting Lanes guys: When you tune your car to go fast, please try sometimes to punish it even a bit. I know it's unnecessary stress to the car to launch it hardly, but the feeling is worth it. :)

    • @Honeypot-x9s
      @Honeypot-x9s 5 лет назад +6

      they all shifted too early in different runs.. or dumped the clutch/torqued it too hot... also didn't start out in the right gear to reduce time spent shifting, every shift costs around 1/4 second for these cars and these guys..3 or 4 shifts.. that touching on +1 second. meaning every car should been below 10 seconds easily... i would thing wagon touching on mid 8's with an amazing but aggressive launch and the rest probably be low to mid 9's
      the wagon specially let down by that short shift and slow start//that 1/8th mile time could been done alot faster i think...pulling mid 8's i would think. brake torque/clutch dump it 2nd gear and just below full wheel spin/traction control lock out.. 2nd gear 2500 grand launch maybe and hold 2nd gear much longer, pull it until its out of puff ..6500+ atleast...then throw it into 3rd.. or i mean the wagon has alot more torque and power and displacement, so i mean maybe even get away with 3rd gear launch torquing it hard off the line.. and skip all shifting

    • @Honeypot-x9s
      @Honeypot-x9s 5 лет назад

      Antilaakeri I don’t expect them to be abusive or exceptionally aggressive though as these are likely their personal cars and clutch dumping and brake torquing can put a lot of stress on things specially given that Volvo’s really aren’t light. But I think they can all drop at least 1 second off these times.
      But all ya the wagon has the most potential in terms of raw speed, but on a track i as a wagon owner will admit it probably be the slowest specially in more technical areas unless they upgrade suspension, brakes and various bits for geometry like sway bars and such.

    Hanson I think you are wrong about the aerodynamics comment.
    The V70 may actually have better aerodynamics than the S60 as one of the things that made the 850 (855) BTCC dominate BTCC back in the day was it’s unique aerodynamics and of corse the reangled engine top/ valve train which gave it more power than the competitors.

    Not to mention that the V70R is the best looking of the 3 too.
    I would have liked to know what the C30 would have done with it's original wheels on, and not those pig ugly things he's put on it.
    And i'm suprised that the C30 didn't win as it is the lightest of the 3.
    The only way to do this fairly is to use the same driver in all 3, so in effect you are all doing 1 attempt in each car. That way you would find out who is the better/fastest driver and then just use that driver for tests like this. This really was a waste of time, albeit good fun as the difference in driver skills could waiver that difference in times as it was less than a second in all 3.

    The 0 to 60 for the S60R and V70R are really slow for what they are. The S60R should be well under 6 seconds. Something is very wrong with it, the cold weather should have made it faster. Many possibilities, the intercooler is probably plugged up with that many miles if they have not been taken out and washed internally.

    • @Honeypot-x9s
      @Honeypot-x9s 5 лет назад +7

      Few things to point out:
      1. Slight incline they are racing on not a very level ground and there was a corner or two mixed.
      2. Cold day = Cold tires + Cold road = limited launching capabilities since tire slip is more likely specially on launch when most potential acting against the tire.
      3. The drivers here starting in 1st and short shifting
      4. Lack of experience and/or personal cars they don’t wish to abuse too much. But they short shifted a lot and throwing a lot of gears to get to 60, should just launch it in a taller gear and with it brake torquing or clutch dump it at a few grand. Each gear throw is costing them 1/4 second and going through at least 2 gears just to get to 60.. that’s potentially upwards of 1/2 second wasted.
      5. Tires of unknown quality.. they mentioned V70R has best tires, it’s possible that they all could do with better tires.

    • @mdnky
      @mdnky 5 лет назад +10

      From what I saw, the drivers were the main issue -- specifically shifting. On a stock S/V60R M66 you should hit 60 just before you grab 3rd. These guys shifted way too early and the shifts were slow.

      The exterior is in great shape - one tail light has a small crack in it, and there's some paint damage on the front air dam.
      Brakes are spongy as hell. OMG.
      The engine is making a small whining noise. Could be the power steering pump (same as my M3, and it makes the same sound as every failing PS pump ever), could be the turbo, could be that I need a whole new engine. Who knows? But for as nice as the body shell is, $2600 (including Tax/Title/License and having it delivered to my door from 175 miles away), means I've got budget to fix a fair number of things before I reach the "what it's worth" point, right? Stock tune on a P2R, shift at 4k, and keep going 3k-4k through all the gears, quickest way to shift it, and get up to speed.
    Also, what wasn't noted, were the P2Rs in sport or advanced modes? Was traction control turned off?

    Interesting to say the least. Did you guys disengage the DTCS?
    8 sec to 60 mph wasn't impressive at all...and you guys got Tunes and exhaust?
    Nobody is sure if the AWD is working properly?
    I'm an owner with a zero stage plus a drop in K&N. I'm sure mine is faster than those times! Lol
    I can't wait to you guys get official numbers from an official drag strip with functioning AWD active and no excuses!

      I kinda like my stock exhaust. To me it makes great sounds when I'm on it and stealth when I'm not. Plus, I've passed highway patrol being a bit enthusiastic and thank goodness it's just a Volvo! Lol👍

      agreed!! i have the trackaddict app and my c30 with the polestar tune and the elevate short ram intake is 6.0 to 60. shifting at the right time is crucial with k24 turbos as they are take longer to spool than the k04

    Hansen's sounds the best, only because he has the same exhaust as me 🤣 but I don't think that ol' girl is making 300 at the moment. But the AWD works! Service that, fluid and filter, make a video!
    Definitely heard some wheel spin on the VR, definitely FWD. Atacama was a win from the start though.
    I'm impressed with the C30, that thing will be a monster later on. And those wheels look amazing! Great video guys! Can't wait to see some drag strip action later on.

    Idk about his S60r since it's a manual, but my automatic has an atrocious 1st gear and doesn't actually use all of its power until the torque limiter turns off in 3rd gear. It's definitely a rolling start car.

  • @dankrafted

    The apps are super unreliable... On paper the s60r should be quite a bit quicker, it has more power off the bat... C30 should be almost as fast as its remapped compared to the extra weight of the v70r....
    My v50 t5 has an annoying over rev when you lift off the gas, it carrys on a tiny bit. Means gear changes are never fast,,, it has thrown a pedal fault so likely to be that or the wiring somewhere.
    I will be getting a remap in the new year though, mainly because this channel makes me want it lol... Keep up the good work fellas 👍

    When you guys change the angle gear cooler go to a semi truck shop and get a brake Clevis the drill 3/8 hole through the collar put a grade 8 bolt through the brake clevis and through the collar then thread your slide hammer into the brake Clevis best way to get those stuck collar off the transmission gear

    My m56 850r does 0-60 in about 5 seconds and that's with boost limited in first and crappy tires. I would say the best way to time it is to just record the speedometer and use a stopwatch. I've found gps trackers are often off by ± .2 seconds.

    Hi, I have a completely stock S60 2.4 (170 HP) and I tried out to see how much slower my car is (in comparison with your turbo ones). I did the 0-60 in 8.6s and the 1/8 mi in 10.7s (also with winter tyres). I think your cars can do it much better than they did. Please check your mappings and try to change the gears within the best range. Mine is easy, 170 HP at 6200 rpm :)
    Best regards from Germany!

    Good video but I have an S40 AWD T5 and I would expect better times than that when it was stock. I think driver skill and caution is too big a factor here to compare each car but in the UK everyone can drive a manual so the standards are much higher I guess, I have been able to double clutch shift properly since I was 17. Still a good video and its refreshing to see the mighty Ovlovs in the states rather than the usual American obsession with Japanese cars!
