What’s up with the early shifts? And soft launches? Can’t compare when each of you are going light on the cars and driving differently. Bad comparison imo, these vehicles can do a lot better.
Yeah, you can make up seconds when launching properly and shifting almost flat without loosing boost in the middle of the shift. I can make my remapped S40 T5 AWD manual to go 0-60 around 6,1s if everything goes nicely, but if I shift like these guys it will be similar numbers, like high 7 secs or low 8s 0-60. For the Shifting Lanes guys: When you tune your car to go fast, please try sometimes to punish it even a bit. I know it's unnecessary stress to the car to launch it hardly, but the feeling is worth it. :)
Why would you double clutch on upward shifts with a synchromesh box? I agree the changes are awful but in fairness to the guys the Volvo gearbox is not renowned for slick changes? In fact the gearbox on an S 60 I drove for 5 years would have been more at home in a tractor.
@@derekwhyle1884 it's a joke, some of you guys on the internet think too deeply into to things and take it to seriously...it was Fast and furious 1 Movie reference.

But I think they can all drop at least 1 second off these times. The 0 to 60 for the S60R and V70R are really slow for what they are. The S60R should be well under 6 seconds. Something is very wrong with it, the cold weather should have made it faster. Few things to point out: 1. Slight incline they are racing on not a very level ground and there was a corner or two mixed. 2. The drivers here starting in 1st and short shifting 4. Lack of experience and/or personal cars they don’t wish to abuse too much. But they short shifted a lot and throwing a lot of gears to get to 60, should just launch it in a taller gear and with it brake torquing or clutch dump it at a few grand. Each gear throw is costing them 1/4 second and going through at least 2 gears just to get to 60.. that’s potentially upwards of 1/2 second wasted. 5. Depends on how much space you need. V60's boot is not that much bigger because of the steeping rear. Still I think it looks better, so I bought the V60.
@@ShiftingLanes Hey - because of you guys and your channel, I made what is possibly the worst decision of my entire life. Here in the next 30-45 minutes, a trailer is showing up with a 2006 V70R on the back of it - that I bought for... ...for... ...$1800... 😹😹😹😹😹😹
@@ShiftingLanes Well, let's start with the *225,618* miles, shall we? The seats look like it - they're in about the same shape (or a bit worse) than the M3 I had that I let go to a new home at 198,500 miles in 2014. The exterior is in great shape - one tail light has a small crack in it, and there's some paint damage on the front air dam. Brakes are spongy as hell. OMG. The engine is making a small whining noise. Could be the power steering pump (same as my M3, and it makes the same sound as every failing PS pump ever), could be the turbo, could be that I need a whole new engine. Who knows? I think FCP Euro will have a lot of entries in my checkbook register. :) Fortunately, I have a backup... :joy: i.imgur.com/e2bRUly.png It's going to stay parked in the garage until next month. When the plates come in from the DMV, I'll take it over to my FLVS and see what I'm actually looking at here. But for as nice as the body shell is, $2600 (including Tax/Title/License and having it delivered to my door from 175 miles away), means I've got budget to fix a fair number of things before I reach the "what it's worth" point, right? Push comes to shove, fix some little things for a couple grand and our teen can drive it around for a year or two - or even take it to college with him, right?
Jonathon Barton ah so a normal R. Got it 🤣 you’ll love it just the same. That’s not entirely horrible. All fixable. Nice XC! That’s what I want to get next. Love the newer ones. -Gregson

Stock tune on a P2R, shift at 4k, and keep going 3k-4k through all the gears, quickest way to shift it, and get up to speed. Also, what wasn't noted, were the P2Rs in sport or advanced modes? Was traction control turned off?
Interesting to say the least. Did you guys disengage the DTCS? 8 sec to 60 mph wasn't impressive at all...and you guys got Tunes and exhaust? Nobody is sure if the AWD is working properly? I'm an owner with a zero stage plus a drop in K&N. I'm sure mine is faster than those times! agreed!! i have the trackaddict app and my c30 with the polestar tune and the elevate short ram intake is 6.0 to 60. shifting at the right time is crucial with k24 turbos as they are take longer to spool than the k04
Hansen's sounds the best, only because he has the same exhaust as me 🤣 but I don't think that ol' girl is making 300 at the moment. But the AWD works! Service that, fluid and filter, make a video! Great video guys! Can't wait to see some drag strip action later on.
Idk about his S60r since it's a manual, but my automatic has an atrocious 1st gear and doesn't actually use all of its power until the torque limiter turns off in 3rd gear. It's definitely a rolling start car.
ShiftingLanes I definitely will. When I visit family in NJ I would love to have you guys do a review of the Polestar. Volvo guys gotta stick together you know!!
I wish I could have shown up with my stage 3 Audi a4 and embarrassed some Swede cars. The 2 step launch control and no lift shift fireballs would have been the star of the show.
Looking forward to the suspension info. Will the suspension be compatible with the V50 T5 6 speed AWD? For some reason the rear suspension is different for FWD. Gotta look into why.
Another good video, blokes .The method of timing is a little hit and miss but good general feel .It is funny for us in Australia seeing you freeze ,it's is 40c here in the burbs of Sydney . Go the c30 !!!
The apps are super unreliable... On paper the s60r should be quite a bit quicker, it has more power off the bat... C30 should be almost as fast as its remapped compared to the extra weight of the v70r.... My v50 t5 has an annoying over rev when you lift off the gas, it carrys on a tiny bit. Means gear changes are never fast,,, it has thrown a pedal fault so likely to be that or the wiring somewhere. I will be getting a remap in the new year though, mainly because this channel makes me want it lol... Keep up the good work fellas 👍
My stock 2013 s60R with Polestar tune consistently makes a 0-60 runs between 5.1.to 5.3 in the winter and 5.4 - 5.7 in the summer(PS3+) I just don't understand how you guys are going so slow...possibly since it looks like the road is a bit uphill grade.
When you guys change the angle gear cooler go to a semi truck shop and get a brake Clevis the drill 3/8 hole through the collar put a grade 8 bolt through the brake clevis and through the collar then thread your slide hammer into the brake Clevis best way to get those stuck collar off the transmission gear
My m56 850r does 0-60 in about 5 seconds and that's with boost limited in first and crappy tires. I would say the best way to time it is to just record the speedometer and use a stopwatch. I've found gps trackers are often off by ± .2 seconds.
Just thought it would be fun to try this so I replicated this with the same app in my completely stock 04 V70R auto and ran 9.4 @76mph, maybe all these theories about the auto being slow aren't true after all.
Hi, I have a completely stock S60 2.4 (170 HP) and I tried out to see how much slower my car is (in comparison with your turbo ones). I did the 0-60 in 8.6s and the 1/8 mi in 10.7s (also with winter tyres). I think your cars can do it much better than they did. Please check your mappings and try to change the gears within the best range. Mine is easy, 170 HP at 6200 rpm :) Best regards from Germany!
I'm somehow not sure of using the phones for tracking the performance because looking at the speedo during the runs (especially for Chad) it doesnt seem to pick up acceleration in a realistic way, really noticeable after gearshifts too
I had an S60R stock 6spd. It ran an 1/8 in 9.0 with doing the trick to take some of the dtsc off, and i wouldnt consider myself a good driver back then.Take them to a real track.
My tuned 2004 volvo v70 D5 can do a 0 - 60 in 6,5 seconds. Originaly it got 163 hp and 340 nm, but with the tune it has 225 hp and 480 nm. Original wheels btw, 16''. Best car i have owned ever. They're terrible winter cars tho.
Good video but I have an S40 AWD T5 and I would expect better times than that when it was stock. I think driver skill and caution is too big a factor here to compare each car but in the UK everyone can drive a manual so the standards are much higher I guess, I have been able to double clutch shift properly since I was 17. Still a good video and its refreshing to see the mighty Ovlovs in the states rather than the usual American obsession with Japanese cars!

Its so dope that there is channel with quality volvo builds going on! I daily a v70 glt, my mom has a xc70 and her boyfriend has a xc60 t6. Keep up the content!
Good video review of swedish Moose.
I took a Moose XC70, 210 hp, 3 years drive
Хороший видео обзор шведских Лоси.
Взял себе ХС70, 210 л.с, 3 год езжу. Satisfied
Hasbrouck Heights native here good shit guys
wait, my 260 hp volvo v70 II with FWD does 6.5 seconds to 60 mph
I have a S60 (with the newer body) but always wondered whether I should have bought the V60. Aside from this I also wanted to buy a C30 to modify it because its body shape is close to the shooting brake style that I've always loved. I guess I must like Volvo's so this episode is just perfect for me.
Depends on how much space you need. V60's boot is not that much bigger because of the steeping rear. Still I think it looks better, so I bought the V60.
I drive a Volvo v50 2.4i. This is a great car. But I might get a v70 R moving forward. Thank you for your videos. Pete UK
Your times were all so close together that YOU'RE ALL WINNERS! YAAAAAAAAAY!
😂😂😂
@@ShiftingLanes Hey - because of you guys and your channel, I made what is possibly the worst decision of my entire life.
Here in the next 30-45 minutes, a trailer is showing up with a 2006 V70R on the back of it - that I bought for...
...for...
...$1800...
😹😹😹😹😹😹
An ‘06 for $1800!? Nice! How bad is it? 😂
Fortunately, I have a backup... :joy: i.imgur.com/e2bRUly.png
It's going to stay parked in the garage until next month.
-Gregson
That’s what happens when you have an 8Eight Fab exhaust and Hilton tune! You decimate all!! Haha!!
Love those wheels on the V70R. They're perfect.
Thanks!
It would be cool to add a S40/V50 to the mix. Keep up the great work, Gents
We want to own all the Volvos. So this is a possibility in the future!
really enjoyed that guys. Looking forward to all the volvo projects coming up. Keep up the great vlogs👌
Many more to come! Make sure you’re subbed, we have lots of exciting adventures ahead!
-Hansen “the guy that came in last place”
that first dude needs to learn when to shift!.....and the 2nd dude.....wtf??? come on people!!!! learn how to drive a stick!!!!! btw...i have a C30
These cars all sound awesome.
I think you’re all winners. Those cars sound so good 👌🏾. If you want accurate data I think Racelogic has a pretty good one. Expensive but can be used for a multitude of different things
Thanks Ejike! Great suggestion on Racelogic. We’ve already been looking at better equipment. That’s on the list. Can’t wait to do this again in the spring at an actual strip!
@@ShiftingLanes I'll be looking forward to the rematches. Great video. There's not many Volvo channels around.
I wouldnt mind stopping by you guys if youd like to review my 05 s40 t5! Came with the m66, 3in becker catless DP, muffler delete and lowered on Bilstein B4 Touring paired with Eibach Pro Kit lowering springs!
V70r wins for me no matter what. I’m a wagon fiend and that atacama is dreamy
Thanks! It's the best.
In case you forgot, the Volvo wagons were banned from the British Touring Car Championships for having an unfair aerodynamic advantage.
The brake fluid low thing is totally normal, my S60 does it every time I brake extra hard.
Atacama FTW! That gained you .5 right there...
Hey guys! How about I bring up my S40 T5 AWD and we can have a drive off!? Hit me up if you want to!would love to be on one of your guys videos!
Stock tune on a P2R, shift at 4k, and keep going 3k-4k through all the gears, quickest way to shift it, and get up to speed.
Also, what wasn't noted, were the P2Rs in sport or advanced modes? Was traction control turned off?
Good one, G-dawg! Team Dadwagen WOOT!
A sedan isn't less airodynamic than a wagon!
That was a joke
very cool video lol all 3 sound very nice good job making them sound better
Nice vid guys, keep up the Volvo love.
Lol
I can't wait to you guys get official numbers from an official drag strip with functioning AWD active and no excuses!
Thanks guys! Staying Tuned.✌
I agree! off with DTCS and a more aggressive launch! Get those all 4 wheels grippin! They should do it in under 6 as Stock!!
@@micke2943
Totally agree. I've been enjoying you guys page since S60R's debut! Also, you guys being "locals" holds my interest even more. I can basically drive to all the pro shops!
I kinda like my stock exhaust. To me it makes great sounds when I'm on it and stealth when I'm not. Plus, I've passed highway patrol being a bit enthusiastic and thank goodness it's just a Volvo! Lol👍
agreed!! i have the trackaddict app and my c30 with the polestar tune and the elevate short ram intake is 6.0 to 60. shifting at the right time is crucial with k24 turbos as they are take longer to spool than the k04
I want all of those cars so badly!
My Volvo currently has AWD problems too! It’s running mainly FWD and it’s annoying because it’s the middle of winter too
Hansen's sounds the best, only because he has the same exhaust as me 🤣 but I don't think that ol' girl is making 300 at the moment. But the AWD works! Service that, fluid and filter, make a video!
Definitely heard some wheel spin on the VR, definitely FWD. Atacama was a win from the start though.
I'm impressed with the C30, that thing will be a monster later on. And those wheels look amazing! Great video guys! Can't wait to see some drag strip action later on.
Thanks man! Really cool to see how these performed.
What exhaust was it? I didn't catch it
@@area.man. Hansen had the IPD oval tube exhaust on his R.
Idk about his S60r since it's a manual, but my automatic has an atrocious 1st gear and doesn't actually use all of its power until the torque limiter turns off in 3rd gear. It's definitely a rolling start car.
Wagons are the best. I would have loved to run my Polestar wagon with you guys!!!
You would have destroyed us all 😂 this spring you should come out to the drag strip with us!
ShiftingLanes I definitely will. When I visit family in NJ I would love to have you guys do a review of the Polestar. Volvo guys gotta stick together you know!!
Man you guys have my 3 dream cars!!! That s60 tho!
I wish I could have shown up with my stage 3 Audi a4 and embarrassed some Swede cars. The 2 step launch control and no lift shift fireballs would have been the star of the show.
Careful now, or you'll get lost in my wake.
Looking forward to the suspension info. Will the suspension be compatible with the V50 T5 6 speed AWD? For some reason the rear suspension is different for FWD. Gotta look into why.
I love the awesome wagon its interieur and the raw sound.
U guys on SWEDESPEED?
Maybe tips to improve my 1998 V70 XC would help. It does have a redone motor 2.5 L, with a high pressure turbo. Had it for a week now.
Whoop whoop
Merry Christmas
Notification squad out 💯🙌👑
Another good video, blokes .The method of timing is a little hit and miss but good general feel .It is funny for us in Australia seeing you freeze ,it's is 40c here in the burbs of Sydney .
Yes,yes,yes....you are the best guys...ty for this video
My stock 2013 s60R with Polestar tune consistently makes a 0-60 runs between 5.1.to 5.3 in the winter and 5.4 - 5.7 in the summer(PS3+) I just don't understand how you guys are going so slow...possibly since it looks like the road is a bit uphill grade.
hahah all the Volvo love, see you this summer.
the thing with the brake fluid low is semi normal, just needs some more fluid, I have it with my v70, only when I brake harder
When your all done arguing grandpa will be running this coming summer the 740 T5 is coming for you
Bring it!
ShiftingLanes yes man it might be done a 1998 v70R motor Dana30 locker ford 5 speed transmission will be interesting
All right I will make a call out video

My m56 850r does 0-60 in about 5 seconds and that's with boost limited in first and crappy tires. I would say the best way to time it is to just record the speedometer and use a stopwatch. I've found gps trackers are often off by ± .2 seconds.
You guys are awesome!!
VR needed the intercooler it woulda REKT
Installing it this Saturday with intake as well 🙂
That wagon is lovley
Proves wagons are just better :) Looked like that road was up hill.
Just thought it would be fun to try this so I replicated this with the same app in my completely stock 04 V70R auto and ran 9.4 @76mph, maybe all these theories about the auto being slow aren't true after all.
What is the name of the app?
Track addict i guess
Hi, I have a completely stock S60 2.4 (170 HP) and I tried out to see how much slower my car is (in comparison with your turbo ones). I did the 0-60 in 8.6s and the 1/8 mi in 10.7s (also with winter tyres). I think your cars can do it much better than they did. Please check your mappings and try to change the gears within the best range. Mine is easy, 170 HP at 6200 rpm :)
Best regards from Germany!
Holy wide angle batman
I'm somehow not sure of using the phones for tracking the performance because looking at the speedo during the runs (especially for Chad) it doesnt seem to pick up acceleration in a realistic way, really noticeable after gearshifts too
I've got an 2016 s60 T6R design with polestar optimization. Live not too far from you in maryland if you would ever want to do something.
You guys are such bad drivers, but great video! Looking forward to 1/4 mile
16 seconds?
More like 30 minutes.
Which wheels on the C30? And the V70?
I have a suggestion... Why dont u guys rent a xc90 2.5t and do 4 car comparison... I really want to se how the autos gonna compare with manuals
What's the name for the app to check speed and time????
I had an S60R stock 6spd. It ran an 1/8 in 9.0 with doing the trick to take some of the dtsc off, and i wouldnt consider myself a good driver back then.Take them to a real track.
Volvo por vida!
FWD R gang! My DEM in my R got cooked, so i live the fwd life as well.
The speed lies in the third gear at 3-4k rpm in these vehicles, try it out :D (edited away "power" cuz the boost comes at 3-4k rpm's"
My c30 with elevate intake only. does 9.9 on the 8th and 5.9 60mph , I was expecting your numbers to be much fast than mine.
Who can tell me, is possible to swap t6 engine 2.9 biturbo in c30?
Thanks 🙏
Good video but I have an S40 AWD T5 and I would expect better times than that when it was stock. I think driver skill and caution is too big a factor here to compare each car but in the UK everyone can drive a manual so the standards are much higher I guess, I have been able to double clutch shift properly since I was 17. Still a good video and its refreshing to see the mighty Ovlovs in the states rather than the usual American obsession with Japanese cars!
