When I decided to reduce my stash, I lucked up. We are a small community and we have a free paper called The Shopper. Someone put a want ad for any left over yarn, I contacted her immediately. Meet up with her that afternoon, took her 7 black garbage bags of yarn, she cried (literally). I asked her what she did with it, I live in southern Florida, she came here during the winter, she made winter hats while she was here and when she would go home, she donated them to homeless shelters. What a great cause.
I just wanted to say thank you, as a fellow crocheter, and someone who ended up in a homeless shelter while pregnant. I literally cried when friends of my family donated yarn for me to crochet baby items for my little one. It was about all I had, and it gave me hope. Now when I get yarn donations, I crochet and donate back to the shelter that saved our lives. You never know how much a little yarn can impact someone.
@@sedalien7937I’m so sorry you ended up there but am happy you did as that means you were getting help. That’s big and I’m proud of you. The fact that you now crochet and give back to the shelter that helped you is what it’s all about! That just warms my heart. I’m the same way. I had to get food from the church near me a couple times. I didn’t have any money but I had yarn and craft shit and some love and creativity. I made the ladies each up a little thank you gift bag and omg they all cried happy tears. I leave crocheted fidget buddies with stickers and motivational cards and a you found me keep me note in them and leave a couple at the pharmacy I go to every month (there’s a lot of methadone patients and people that need love) now if everyone acted this way, what a wonderful place it would be ❤ any small act of kindness can go such a long way, it’s pretty amazing. I hope you’re doing well now ❤
FANTASTIC!!! I’m sitting in my laundry/ craft room, hanging out with the dogs, getting laundry done, watching RUclips videos and working on a crochet afghan for my daughter and son in law… trying to distract myself from my cow who is going to calf but is taking forever….. I’ve been trying to use up my stash and I have a TON of cotton! I love all the patterns you showed us and man! I’m going back to watch again and make a list!!! I really needed this fun and inspirational video!!❤
Right now I'm stashbusting by making prayer squares for our church prayer shawl ministry to distribute during the Easter season. Easy, quick, but make a thoughtful reminder of God's grace. Thanks for all the nifty ideas. Love the jar covers.
I just found your channel and just had to subscribe. My husband and I just bought our dream home in the Highlands of Scotland, to retire to in a couple years. I have been given cart blanche to decorate as ai see fit. And I am so excited to also finally have a craft room all to myself. I am a huge fan of the boho look, probably also having grown up in the US, in the 80’s. I love the “hippy” look, being echo friendly and not spending a fortune on things to look like everyone else. I have spent the last few months crocheting coasters, table runners, placemats, napkin rings, pot holders, oven mitts, hot pads, cushion covers, throws/afghans, baskets and plant pot covers, and even curtain toppers. I have made macramé wall hangings, more fancy napkin rings and matching placemats, plant hangers and even a hanging “swing” with a big round cushion for my elderly cat to hang in the south facing window to soak up all the sunshine. I have knit a dog bed with faux fur (never again lol, it did turn out beautiful, but it was a nightmare to work with) over a beanbag dog bed. She loves it thank goodness. I have made tree ornaments in crochet, knit, and macramé but am now working on metal work, clay, and wooden ornaments as we plan on our tree being mostly hand made ornaments, with a few extra special ornaments we collected through the years that have special meaning for us. I started the ornaments to use up scrap balls of yarn from other projects. I love the hand towel pattern link you shared. While I have also made a ton of dishwashing cloths and scrubbies, I never thought of crocheting towels! I have made a few towel toppers for holding my shop bought hand towels and even made my own rustic wooden buttons from the branches of trees from our current home that had to be cut down, to put on the towel topper to keep it secured to the oven bar. I am so excited and cannot wait to begin the towels. I love that the designer used hdc and that they have such texture. The drape is just beautiful and it makes me want to use it. The face scrubbies are wonderful things. I have been making them for a few years and either make a little mesh bag to use for washing them in the machine so they do not get lost or I make little “baskets” to keep them in. They make great gifts for teenage girls and ladies and if you sell at craft fairs, they fly off the table as they make great stocking stuffers, teachers “thank you” gifts, etc. I have even used small wide mouth jars as containers to hold the scrubbies in, that I have made a crochet cover over the jar, glued a big clay bead in a coordinating color to glue onto the painted lid and made the scrubbies slightly smaller than the jar opening to make them easy to get in and out of the jar. The bags are absolutely adorable. I have been making mosaic crochet coin bags, credit card/cash bags and even much bigger ones for carrying a current project with me to crochet while waiting at the Dr’s, school, dentist, wherever I have at least 5 minutes to do a few stitches. They all zip shut to keep everything clean and tidy and if working in the round there are no ends to worry about other than starting and finishing ends. I have become addicted to mosaic crochet as I can use up lots of small leftover bits as well as other skeins. I am a vegan so tend to work with cotton or acrylic depending on what I am making and the various mosaic bags work great with either. But I love that zipped bobble bag and that is on my must make list now too. I discovered an Icelandic Crocheter here on YT, Tinna (I forget her surname, but it starts with a T) and she was making some small mosaic bags with zippers and showed an easy way to crochet from the zipper down, as like you, I had nightmares about sewing zippers lol. I cannot wait to set started, oh and that pot holder with the circles of colors, that is the project I will begin tomorrow for the new house. The colors in the kitchen are white, red, orange and yellow…and having been making the table runners and things I have leftover bits of cotton in those colors along with a stash of white cotton. I might even make a few dish cloths with the dots of colors too to go with the pot holders. Thank you for the videos and I cannot wait to get started and to see what else you share. 💚
A stash buster that I love is the sunburst granny square. You can use up to 4 colours per square, and it's a quick, simple design. I like it because I can make some whenever I have random yarn lying around and, once I have enough squares, turn them into whatever I feel like.
I definitely have the same issue. Lol I love that you called it a collection. I love having some what of a stash because I may not have much money some times but I'll still have yarn to crochet with.
THANK YOU! I only learned to crochet this past fall, but I've been knitting for 20 years. When I first started out, I'd buy a skein here and there as inspiration (I'm sure you understand), but I had no idea what quantities I'd need for actual projects until a few years in. It's just nice to hear someone acknowledge the benefits of having a stash for once!
Some of these would make the sweetest little Random Acts of Crochet Kindness too! Those little chap stick holders hidden around a school or library, or the tea bags near a local coffee shop! I know what I am working on today!
On the topic of dish cloths, I made some but a little smaller when my daughter was a baby and starting on solid foods. I made 12 in the 6 diffent colors of the rainbow and I made matching bibs. I then at meal time I would match the bib and cloth to the color of her food so that stains wouldn't be too visible (I mean we all know hard blue berry stains are to wash out). When my cousin was expecting her first I made a set for her. She wasn't super thrilled at first, but politely accepted the gift. Half a year later later she called "and the hand cloths and bibs you made, oh my god they are amazing, they don't stain that badly and baby girl always look squicky clean when and after eating. The rest of my mommy group want a set too now." It has become one of my go-to gifts for baby showers. I also made a small basket full of washing cloths for my mother upon her request. She loved them. However, funny turn of events, when the pandemic hit and we all had to limit who we let into our homes and how many, and had to wash our hands all the time. The 30 washing cloths I had made got promoted to single use hand towels. My mom put the basket next to the sink, and a dedicated laundry basket on the floor next to it. It was so easy to just grap a clean little mini towel, dry hands and drop it in the laundry. When the little laundry basket was full my mom could just pick it up dump it into the washer without having to touch the dirty towels. It was hygienic, practical, looked good and it environmentally friendly because of the amount of "dried hands pr. laundry batch".
I love watching all of those incredible ideas, though I definitely know how I'm busting my yarn stash this year. My oldest cousin is pregnant, our grandma's first great grandchild and my uncle's first grandchild, and I'm going ham with making lots of plushies (add that the ones my cousin, who also crochets, is making for her baby). I've finished a teddy bear, I'm currently making a sheep with some chenille yarn I bought for the project (in my defense, I've been wanting to try this yarn for ages and they now sell it here) and I have plans to make a Mushu plushie next since the baby's Chinese zodiac is dragon; so of course I need to make her the best dragon. I've crocheted more on the past few weeks than the entirety of 2023... Let's just say that's going to be one spoiled baby.
When I got real serious about yarn crafts my friend would buy me yarn from Goodwill. You build up your stash really quickly. I have since gone hog wild crazy because of a deep affection for yarn and creating things out of it.
I love this!! Today I was gifted literally a trash bag full of yarn that a family friend was going to throw out. I hate things going to waste so I went and picked it up and what looked like a small bag was actually HUGE!!! I wont need to buy yarn for months and its all unused but I really needed something like this to begin to work through it especially as someone who likes making functional things.
i once inherited a large collection of yarn from my grandmother. i used to make a large corner to cornet blanket ( about queen-king size). and i still have over half the stash left 😂
I love to crochet and my boyfriend loves the things I make. Only bump in the road we're hitting a stopping point on getting me yarn due to bills. I enjoy creating things at home and cant wait to learn from you and many others to create even more beautiful, fun, and useful projects further into the future!
Do you have clothes for donation? Cut into strips and Weave rugs until you can get yarn ✌🏼 Once I’m through the clothes I’m going to try weaving with plastic bags.
Hi Elise. To me, the best part of the video is that you have introduced me to creators I haven't met yet. I love that you take the time to research and share your favorite creators with us. I usually stick with the same few creators and I need to expand my crochet field. There are some fun patterns here, make ahead gifts for my "just in case gift box".
Thank you! I saved this video to my crochet videos as there are definitely projects I want to make. I appreciate the time and effort you put in to make this for us all. You are FANTASTIC! 😀
This is so great! I'm currently in the middle of moving, so unpacking my yarn is a pain. BUT, I can unpack just a little to make a lot of projects with your suggestion. I'm looking for my hooks right now....
Elise, thank you for sharing all these wonderful projects!!! This makes working through your stash FUN!!!! Please keep bringing more love and joy into our world through the awesome works of art you create with yarn!!!!
Thank you for sharing all your wonderful craft connections. I always look forward to your videos. Love your passion...great new web site. Have a great weekend ❤️🧶🇨🇦
Great ideas and such cute, adorable items. I, like you, love the little things, always have. I like to cover tuna or cat food cans with crochet. Even taller cans are useful too. I prefer crocheting with cotton for these projects. I store hooks and needles, small scraps of cut off tails of yarn, stitch markers, and place darning needles through the yarn that is on the outside. Soooo many uses
Thanks so much for sharing these with us! I love them all. I live in a small apartment and it doesn't take long before I have too much yarn. Then there is a sale somewhere and I just HAVE to buy more. I have so much yarn stashed literally EVERYWHERE lol. Now with what you have shared today, you have given me some great things to use some of my stash so I can buy more lol!!!
Hi Elise! I love when you create videos like this with so many cute ideas. I made so many gifts after watching your Christmas/Holiday gifts video! And I found some great designers to follow! Love you, Kathleen ❤
The tea bag bookmark is too cute! This video was perfect timing, I am committed to pulling all my yarn out and reorganizing it this weekend. Its such a happy mess! I almost gave up buying any new yarn for Lent but I gave up sugar instead. 😜
I have been looking for a video like this! Thank you so much. It seems like anyone else who makes these videos are all the same, but yours is so unique!
What a great collection of little stash busting projects! Headed to my stash right now!!! Thanks so much for another well thought out video done to perfection 👏
Thank you for putting together so many good ideas in one place. There were several that U particularly liked, but loved the toast/ egg potholder… don’t know why. However, the different stitches cloths were a great idea too.
Thank you so much for this video! You should make a video with a bunch of different types of granny squares. They are one of my fav things to crochet! God bless!
I love these! I’ve made the breakfast trio potholders. Very easy and fun! I want to make the tea bag bookmarks! I’m a big tea drinker and so are some friends. Thank you!!!!
I grabbed my scrap yarn box and started to freehand an amigurumi while watching. One of these days, I'm going to do a similar video with amigurumi patterns that take an ounce or less.
I love all of your videos! I’m definitely trying to use what I have and stop hoarding it 😂 trying to remind myself I bought it to be used not looked at 🤦🏻♀️♥️
I love this video and I love how excited u get about cute patterns, yarn colours and fun projects !!!😁💗 I am definately doing the scrunchies and rainbows 1st then properly the jar covers and ..... 😂 ta heaps Lovely.💗🙏
Being in college has helped me so much, I don’t have enough time or money to buy more yarn, so I’m finally getting through my yarn, yay!! The goal is to have most of it gone by the summer
I'm currently using up scraps and stash making a custom all-in-one knitting, crochet, notions tool kit and a custom stash tote. I just couldn't find anything purchasable that would fill all my needs in one simple item so i made it a stash buster project. I'm doing it fully custom to fit my interchangables, cr hooks, and main notions all in one double zip book. Same thing with the tote. I love the tall, sinch-top totes I've found on Amazon, but wanted some different configuration stuff re pockets etc, so i opted to save money AND use up stash by just making one myself.
Love this video!! Definitely saving it! Love that this has smaller projects that can be made as gifts. I really needed some inspiration like this!! -Yana
Hi Elise….just love all these great stash buster ideas…..especially the beautiful pouch with zipper….must try that one. And when u said no sewing machine needed for the zipper…..that was even more exciting. I use to sew many many years ago….had no problem with zippers then but now would be a diff story.😂😂 Love the kitchen towels and the diff stitches used for the dish cloths…& the chapstick holder case. Definitely will be checking these patterns out. Thank you so much for another fabulous & helpful video! 😊🧶🦋
I love all of the patterns you shared, but the pencil chapstick holder!! That would make a FABULOUS gift for a teacher! I wish I’d had that when my kids were in school. (I do have some friends that are teachers , so…. Guess what they’re getting for Christmas!!)
I really like the teabag bookmark, they would be a great treat for my book club get togethers. I made your Mr. Pencil pattern for my grandkids two years ago and they were very fun to make ☺️, so the chapstick holders are appealing to me😎. Have a great weekend……Karen from Greenleaf Idaho 👍🏼
I think the jar covers could be used to cover those hot cups of coffee you buy at the coffee shops. Coffee Cozy. I am just learning to crochet. A good gift.
Wow 😍 I always enjoy watching your videos 😊🙌🏼🎉and your adorable little craft room is so darn cute I love it 🥰 every time I see it I can’t get enough of it 😂 thank you Elise for sharing these great ideas ❤️🙏
Omgosh, Elise! I may have to get some cotton yarn to make some face scrubbies, potholders, notions bags, wash clothes....oh! Who am I kidding? I just want to make them all! 😂 🤟💜✌️🧶
Love your videos I'm supposed to be reducing my yarn stash too ...but...today I went online to buy t-shirts and ended up somehow ordering 16skeins of yarn and a mystery box full too🤭
These are adorable patterns. 😊 Right now all of my yarn is locked in a pod until my son's can bring it up to CT. I'm going to loose my mind if I don't get to crochet soon! 😱 LOL!
Thank you for all these great projects Elise. I love them and want to try to knit them all. I also have my own idea how to use left over yarn this year. I’m going to be a grandma this summer. I’m very excited and want to knit to my precious grand baby some clothes but I never done that. I remember you said that you knitted baby clothes in the past. I would really appreciate your advice on a pattern and where to get it, not to difficult but cute and beautiful. Maybe you can make a video how to knit baby clothes. Thank you very much💕
Another great video, Elise! Thanks so much for including my Pencil Chapstick Holder. I'm with you, trying to make and design things to bust through my stash this year. I'm excited to look more closely at making several of these that you shared. And wow! Your new website looks great!
Love this video! So many great ideas, I especially love the teabagbookmarks! It has given me inspiration for other bookmarks as wel, now I see that every little amigurumi can be turned in to a bookmark. Last year I used most of my scraps/yarns that I didn't know what to do with for hats to donate. It was great, because I don't like wearing hats, I like headbands. But I do enjoy making hats, so this was a great way to make al those lovely hat patterns that where overflowing my pinterest page😂
Yay Lawrence is watching the rugby and I'm stash busting a crochet hat with you 🎉 great recommendations I'll definitely check them out 👍 ps I LOVE your blouse 😍😍😍😍😍
Hi Elise, you’re going to think I’m weird for watching your channel because I haven’t crocheted in 10 years but I love watching your channel and that colorful potholder is so cute. I don’t enjoy joining together projects that’s why I like making mitered square blankets but that one was so cute. I thought the border was an i-cord border but it’s not. I wanted to ask you you started any knitting projects this year? Take care Rosy

Once I’m through the clothes I’m going to try weaving with plastic bags.
Hi Elise. Going in hospital for a hip operation in April , so these small projects will be great to keep me busy .
Awww! I hope everything goes will with your surgery!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you so much for this video. Not only did I enjoy it, but you gave me so many ideas. Thank you again and have a great weekend
You're so welcome!! 🧶🧶🧶
Hi Elise. To me, the best part of the video is that you have introduced me to creators I haven't met yet. I love that you take the time to research and share your favorite creators with us. I usually stick with the same few creators and I need to expand my crochet field. There are some fun patterns here, make ahead gifts for my "just in case gift box".
Thank you!! It really is fun to explore different designers!! 🧶🧶🧶
I really need to have a 'just in case' box!!
Thank you! I saved this video to my crochet videos as there are definitely projects I want to make. I appreciate the time and effort you put in to make this for us all. You are FANTASTIC! 😀
Thank you so much!! 🧶🧶🧶
This is so great! I'm currently in the middle of moving, so unpacking my yarn is a pain.
BUT, I can unpack just a little to make a lot of projects with your suggestion.
I'm looking for my hooks right now....
That's great! So glad it was helpful! 🧶
Elise, thank you for sharing all these wonderful projects!!! This makes working through your stash FUN!!!! Please keep bringing more love and joy into our world through the awesome works of art you create with yarn!!!!
Thank you so much!! I really had fun sharing all these fun stash busting patterns!! 🧶🧶🧶
Thankyou. I’ll be adding these to my list of things I would like to crochet. I especially like the notions pouch with the zip. Xx
I love that one too!! 🧶🧶🧶
Thank you for sharing all your wonderful craft connections. I always look forward to your videos. Love your passion...great new web site. Have a great weekend ❤️🧶🇨🇦
Thank you so much!! I had fun with this one!! 🧶🧶🧶
my grandma gave me soooo much yarn :,) ❤️ that’s where the vast majority of my stash came from, it’s a portion of hers 😆 I love her tons
Awww! That's wonderful! 🧶🧶🧶
Good morning Elise, I love these projects, thank you for sharing!!❤️❤️❤️🥰🙏🏼
You're so welcome!!! 🧶🧶🧶🧶
Wow! You outdid yourself. It would have taken me forever to come up with all of these cute projects. I ❤ every one of them!
Awww, thank you!! I'm so glad you like all the projects!! 🧶🧶🧶
What a great idea!! It's always nice to have little cans and jars for trinkets!! 🧶🧶🧶
Thank you for sharing this awesome information and the links.
The face scrubbers and bag was my favorite. L
You are so welcome! 🧶🧶🧶
The jar cover would also make a good yarn cozy for cakes of yarn 😊 thanks for all the cute pattern recommendations!
That's a great idea!!! 🧶🧶🧶
Lol!!! I totally understand!! I'm on a mission to reduce my stash this year too (to make room for more 😂) 🧶🧶🧶
Hi Elise! I love when you create videos like this with so many cute ideas. I made so many gifts after watching your Christmas/Holiday gifts video! And I found some great designers to follow! Love you, Kathleen ❤
That's so awesome!! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and for some good ideas! ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Elise, thank you very much for sharing beautiful patterns. I dont miss Any videos from you.
Thank you so much!! 🧶🧶🧶
The tea bag bookmark is too cute! This video was perfect timing, I am committed to pulling all my yarn out and reorganizing it this weekend. Its such a happy mess! I almost gave up buying any new yarn for Lent but I gave up sugar instead. 😜
Lol!!! No sugar is easier than no new yarn!!! 😂😂😂
I love all these stash busting patterns. I love that rainbow pot holder. I love the little green notions pouch.
Love those patterns too!! 🧶🧶🧶
I have been looking for a video like this! Thank you so much. It seems like anyone else who makes these videos are all the same, but yours is so unique!

Omg this is so relatable! Thanks for giving the ideas 😂 I really needed this 😅
You're so welcome! 🧶🧶🧶
Thank you for putting together so many good ideas in one place. There were several that U particularly liked, but loved the toast/ egg potholder… don’t know why. However, the different stitches cloths were a great idea too.
The little Diner Pot Holder set is so cute!!!! 🍳🍞☕️
Good to know the Diner Trio Potholders are a good pattern! I am in love with those teabags!! So cute!! ☕️☕️☕️
I love all of your videos so much! Aesthetically pleasing and full of good information!
Yay! Thank you! 🧶🧶🧶
I grabbed my scrap yarn box and started to freehand an amigurumi while watching. One of these days, I'm going to do a similar video with amigurumi patterns that take an ounce or less.
That's such a wonderful idea!! 🧶🧶🧶
We love you 💜💗, your work is great and easy😃 I can almost make everything. I just need a little practice and I succeed 💪😎. Thank you ☺️👍💯.

So many nice ideas. Thank you, Elise!
You are so welcome! 🧶🧶🧶
Being in college has helped me so much, I don’t have enough time or money to buy more yarn, so I’m finally getting through my yarn, yay!! The goal is to have most of it gone by the summer
Now that's a way to work down a yarn stash! 🧶🧶🧶
That's amazing!! 👏
Love this video!! Definitely saving it! Love that this has smaller projects that can be made as gifts. I really needed some inspiration like this!! -Yana
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! 🧶🧶🧶
This is great! I can't wait to get going....cuz my stash is quite stashy!
Haha!! Have fun!! 🧶🧶🧶
Hi Elise….just love all these great stash buster ideas…..especially the beautiful pouch with zipper….must try that one. And when u said no sewing machine needed for the zipper…..that was even more exciting. I use to sew many many years ago….had no problem with zippers then but now would be a diff story.😂😂
Love the kitchen towels and the diff stitches used for the dish cloths…& the chapstick holder case. Definitely will be checking these patterns out.
Thank you so much for another fabulous & helpful video! 😊🧶🦋
You're so welcome! The no sewing machine required part is amazing! 🧶🧶🧶
That a great bunch of ideas to share. Thank you!!!
You're so welcome!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I need more cotton yarn. Love the face scrub idea!
They really are a great idea! 🧶🧶🧶
Great video. Perfect small projects and I am also going to check out some of the crocheters featured
I'm so glad you enjoyed the projects!! So many great designers!! 🧶🧶🧶
I love all of the patterns you shared, but the pencil chapstick holder!! That would make a FABULOUS gift for a teacher! I wish I’d had that when my kids were in school. (I do have some friends that are teachers , so…. Guess what they’re getting for Christmas!!)
I thought they were so cute too, but I love anything Jen designs!! ✏️✏️✏️
That's such a great idea!! So glad you enjoyed making Mister Pencil!! He's one of my favorites!! ✏️✏️✏️
Some great ideas here, definitely need to reduce my stash! 😅💕

Thanks so much, Jen!! Love all your whimsical designs!!! ✏️✏️✏️
Is there a link for the chapstick holder?
Love this video! So many great ideas, I especially love the teabagbookmarks! It has given me inspiration for other bookmarks as wel, now I see that every little amigurumi can be turned in to a bookmark.
Last year I used most of my scraps/yarns that I didn't know what to do with for hats to donate. It was great, because I don't like wearing hats, I like headbands. But I do enjoy making hats, so this was a great way to make al those lovely hat patterns that where overflowing my pinterest page😂
That's awesome!!! Hats are fun to make!!! 🧶🧶🧶

Take care
Rosy
Thank you so much for watching the channel!! I'm still slowly working on a knitted Norwegian cardigan. I hope I'll finish it someday!! 🧶🧶🧶
This is such a useful video! Ty!!!
Thank you so much! 🧶🧶🧶
I love your content!!! 🥰🥰🥰
