this guys grown so much in the span of half a year, I remember watching the "relationship are hard" video and it got me hooked. Haven't been watching ur videos lately tho but it's great to see you thriving man :) keep it up!
A few things: 1. The fact that you felt very little and that concerns you is a good sign, you recognize the situation and know the “normal” response for people. You didn’t feel the same response that “most people” feel, but everyone deals with it differently. 2. Your response is normal and fine. You’re not a psycho or anything like that if you were worried on that front. 3. Totally agree on the desensitization, it’s a problem. But at least you don’t appear to have mental trauma as of this video, and if you ever feel something is off, do talk to someone 4. Bro I grew up in Saudi Arabia from ages 2-14. I saw a ton of dead bodies from mostly traffic collisions and poor driving. I also saw a dead body in America that was out on a lawn and don’t know what the deal was while in college. Been in a few situations where people almost died and EMS was called in and blood was everywhere, I was composed and to be perfectly honest, I felt immediate shock and fear but afterwards a little annoyed. I also felt the same “shame” as you about not being more terrified afterwards, but I think it’s the fact that you and your friends all walked away unharmed. It took a few weeks to fully get through it as I did begin to dream about it when I went to sleep, but I got through fine man. Good luck, wish you the best.
I've heard so many real life gunshots since I was a 8 years old, I got used to hearing guns and stuff, so my brain just filters them as background noise. My life is better that way, but I'm scared it will happen really close to me, and I won't act quick enough, since it's a really normal sound for me.
When I started hearing them (I moved to another city), it really wasn't nice. I haven't watched TV shows/movies back then, and I had nightmares because of these. But as said, now I don't even notice them.
This is very soothing to watch, been watching since below 100k and probably 50k. I really love your content, it was recommended for me when I was at my lowest!
So I am a 15 year old kid from your average suburban area in America. I never thought about shootings much up till about a year ago when I experienced something shooting adjacent in my own neighborhood. I was at a park maybe a block away from my house and I was hanging out with some friends when all of a sudden there was a loud pop sound. We didn't think much of it at the time, until one of my friends went to leave the park. He came running back and said there was a guy dead in the parking lot. Obviously we didn't believe him so we went to go see (Like little idiots). And there was actually a guy dead in the parking lot, so we had to call 911 and get the cops here. It was kinda crazy, we were the first people to see this. It was let out to the public later that he had committed suicide there. It was pretty crazy, but what I think is crazier is that I am not that hung up on it. I never got close to it, just saw it off in the distance, but I don't know it just feels weird to me that I didn't even think about it much even a week later. I think it's the same thing that you were saying about being desensitized to it, and I am glad I am not the only one who felt that way. It makes me less concerned about my response to it. Anyways glad I got to tell my story here though, Love the videos Niko keep up the good work.
I'm very sorry to hear that that happened, as a fellow Greek, i can tell you that gun violence has actually increased in the country in the past few years. Glad you made it out safe.
I live in Virginia beach, here its crazy being near Hampton and newport news, even Portsmouth. There are many threats all across here but I'm happy to live in this city which is safe from all of that. America is in some stuff right now and in Greece and anywhere else in the world is no different. I remember watching some of nikos videos about 4-5 months ago and its crazy how much he has grew. I love these videos especially the ones with relationships, just started dating a girl and those videos really helped. Thank you niko.
As someone who lives near two of the top shooting cities in america (St louis and Chicago) I can definitely say I’m pretty desensitized to hearing about it because it actually is just a daily thing to hear about on the news.
DUDE I was literally in a hotel in the exact area you mentioned, it looks like in an apocalypse there. Junkies all over the place, we saw a guy inject H into his private parts 💀
As a black man in america. I wouldn't DARE to help unless I'm armed myself because what the hell am I going to do if I can't protect the innocent (allegedly). I'll end up being dead or injured like the others. Sometimes you don't NEED to be the hero, it isn't anyone's job
Since you're in Athens though, I hope visited the Oracle of Delphi ruins, it's pretty close, and the village is really beautiful and much quieter, Greece has better civilization in villages than in Cities btw.. I visited Delphi the day before I went in the Military, it has been an old military tradition that was passed down from when soldiers used to get the blessings of the Pythia, just a year ago I was there, if you're able to visit it, it would be awesome!
Not about gun violence, but i have a great logical response in critical moments. There was times where I was with people who froze, like one time when a guy started convulcing in the middle of the mall, I was the only one who got close to help the dude. Another time, a guy invaded the house with only me and my wife, he was looking for a woman that neede to pay him up, he got the wrong house and I defused the situation pretty well. I heard somewere that people with adhd tend to function better in crisis.. something about too much stimulus is easier to manage than to little
I never really grew up in a dangerous neighborhood, but from media and witnessing things online *so* much... it is very desensitizing. I feel like anyone who has been on the internet long enough and have witnessed things on here can feel the same way when it comes to things happening irl. I mean, I've seen so many car wrecks that when I got into an accident that *could have been* life threatening I didn't really feel anything besides the mindset of, "Well, that just happened." Then moved on with my life lol
As a fellow greek, at the start i didnt expect shootings to happen in greece and i was really surprised, but the more i thought about it, the more it made sense since u were in the center of Athens which is the capital and has a lot of population. Thankfully i live in another part of greece which has very little crime levels so i havent experienced something like that before
This happened to me a while ago, I wasn't as close as you we're when yours happened, but when I was about, maybe 8 or 9, My uncle, who didn't live to far from me just a 3-minute walk away, was murdered in his living room, what the police say (they didn't do jack) was that he was beaten to death. he wasn't, he was shot. By someone who's still walking free, I know where they live to, they don't live far. but the thing is, my uncle, was disabled, missing an arm, knee issues, back issues, alcoholism. and he was killed in cold blood, by someone who'll never face consequences, I remember walking inside his house, still seeing the blood on the ceiling and floor. still haunts me to this day. people say, "forgive but not forget" and things like that. but I'll never forgive, and i cant forget
A lot of us, especially younger people, take life for granted. I think people nowadays have that lack of reaction to something that should seem more important because we can't fully understand the gravity of death and violence. If you've ever had a close relative or friend die in some violent manner (I am glad I haven't), I would assume their reaction to a shooting would be a lot different. I think another part of it is also the intrinsic individualistic nature of humans is synonymous to our lack of empathy for others. If you or someone you knew well was the one getting shot at, you'd have a different reaction, understandably.
Not good to be completely uncaring a least for ones self but remember fear leads to anger, anger to hate, hate leads you astray. Deal with what's in front of you than get a good meal and rest and keep moving
i did not expect someone from Greece to upload this amazing content again with not super extra flashy edit and trash mods that makes them into babies and yes thats real for some reason im also greek and the content i was watching in 2012 was 20x time greater that it is now it was literally on of this style of video and i enjoy it
Story time: In my home country has a lot of terrorism happen in it, when I was staying in my grandparent's house, around 30 meters away there was a terrorist attack, where a guy decided to drive into a bus station and start to stab innocent people, no one died luckily (execpt the terrorist who was shot by a civilian) and that day I was meant to go to that bus station to take the bus to the beach. after hearing there was an attack, I wasn't really feeling anything, I just said "ah Sh*t happens" and just kind of continued doing whatever I was doing. I couldn't go outside because of of the attack so I stayed home for most of the day. I get what you mean by how you don't really feel emotional to it. yeh its sad but it is normal where I come from so I don't feel much.
I don't have an interesting story or anything, I've never even been near a shooting situation (probably because I live in northern New England away from any cities). I just wanted to let you know that, even though I've never been in that kind of situation, I still feel like I get what you went through. You do a great job of conveying your thoughts.
Bro it's cool to keep chill in a situation like that, I actually think our generation is more sensitive to this stuff than most other generations; maybe not like gen x or millenials who got to live in the golden age of peace but before then violence was f*ckin wild compared to our times, as guns were more difficult to obtain people used machetes n shit, a lot of old people have some crazy anecdotes of what they did or saw at our age which we couldn't think of now, and you know, some times in history have been so violent that today we make kids learn about them in school
Yeah niko i get the same desensitized feeling as you do, dont worry my man. I want to say last week~ maybe two i was up pretty later at about midnight here in cali, i was playing rdr2, and talking to a bunch of my friends in a party chat when all of a sudden i heard countless shots fired literally on my street maybe two houses down from mine. I got up out of my chair and opened my bedroom door, one of my other house members was telling me to get down cause those were gunshots (i thought it was fireworks because people just randomly use fireworks here all the time i have no clue why) i just kinda waited around and went back to my game as its not my business nor do i want any part of it. I got back to my friends and asked if they heard that and some of them were like "what was that dude" needless to say, im okay 🎉❤
5:34 As a greek, non offence taken, i THINK i heard bad things about monastiraki but i don't really remember,i live very far away from Athens, i am glad you and your friends are safe though TwT
I have lived in a inner city area my whole life and things like that have happend near me and it makes you feel more bad in the inside than scared at a certain point
Hi I found you channel about half a year ago and really enjoy your videos and find them super relaxing! I did not know you are from Greece and wanted to ask how do you have such a fluent english accent? Are you completely self taught or bilingual perhaps?
I'm from the Philippines, and this neighborhood(?) area (squatters) mess things up A LOT in my place, there have been multiple gun shots throughout the years, mostly happened at night and in the morning you could still see blood traces on the ground. They also started a massive fire that spread everywhere, it came close to our house (around 15-20 meters close away before reaching us) and thank God the firefighters made it in time or else everyone would evacuate and run. And like you, I was "too" calm about it, like I didn't even care much that those events happened :/
there's not much to feel honestly, shootings happen all the time, worry for yourself and that's it. If you were to try and help the wounded person, i think your life matters more than losing your life on a Fool's Errand.
In my place there has recently been some school shooter threats. Ive never heard it happen from the 17 years ive lived here and like... we now have to go get line to get scanned. I dont think this helps deal with a threat at all and we get a very easy to aim at line at the start of the day, which doesnt feel nice
havent been in shoutout but i witnessed a guy getting stubbed to death and i was back then like 15yo and then it was scary like police wanted people who saw it or was in action there and i preety much was too scared of some legal implications for not helping him or not calling police i just ran lol now i found it just weird memory

Think about it what is causing the shootings suspicious 🤔
I watched it last night lol
