- Chinese President Xi Jinping struck a triumphant tone in his speech at the opening of the 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) by highlighting what he said were the party's achievements over the last five years. Additionally, Xi promised a series of reforms and changes that he said he hopes will direct China toward the goal of national rejuvenation.

The question has never been whether Taiwan and Mainland China are part of the same country. That question is clearly stated in Taiwan's own constitution that states that Taiwan is a part of China.
The question has always been who is the legitimate government of that country.

The Taiwan and China situation is very different to Russia and Ukraine, China wants Taiwan to be a part of China, but Russia wanted Ukraine to remain and keep neutrality and Ukraine promised Russia years ago that they will not join NATO, so yeah not the same situation mate.

How ridiculous those so-called expert who never went to or lived in China.
To understand why he is doing what he is doing does NOT entitle him to act the way he does nor should we allow it to continue. Our planet is entering a very dark phase of this capitalism choke-hold where the wealthy are taking control by financial force.
Xi is also doing all these things for his and his crony's own survival. He was a different person before he rose to power so the theory of his childhood actually didn't explain things that well. His current behavior has a lot to do with his need for survival in his current position since he hunted down a lot of people and created a lot of internal/CCP enemies in his first 5-year reign (He hunted down those people with the pretext of anti-corruption mainly in an effort to consolidate his meager control and power in the early days). Ten years later at present, if he doesn't intensify his grip, any of his former enemy can take him down. He and his crony can only keep going to strengthen their grip of power and control because the alternative will be their own demise. The communist system and Xi's own doing simply don't allow for his and his crony's peaceful exit.
Xi Jinping is a Communist who wants to overthrow the Western capitalist world order, he only uses Western companies and private investors like toys, discarding them once the CCP has stolen all their trade secrets and intellectual property for its state enterprises.
I don't think Xi Jinping's childhood circumstances are extraordinary in a chinese context. Most Chinese people who had families involved on any organization had family members murdered or arrested during the Cultural Revolution.
