Excess ammonia could be coordinating to some of your cobalt ions - maybe that is what's resulting in that difference in color?

I am making pigments and have seen this done with cobalt chloride, monosodium phosphate, sodium hydroxide and ammonia. Alchemical Art channel

Thank you! I actually want to Remake this video because I found that the pigment as I made it here seems indefinitely stable in oil, but lost color in water suspension after about 6 months. I think the heating phase needs to just be longer to allow the pigment to fully stabilize

Cobalt compounds frequently shift between a pink and blue form due to things like temperature, water of crystallization, and other factors, so I’m not at all surprised that this happened
