I joined this show when they had the van at the beginning with Topov flailing about on the roof lol. Nigel Plaskitt is an absolute genius. What wonderful childhood memories he gave us!
There was also another intro from 1974, which was used on at least one episode (the first one after Mr. Pipkin died). It just showed the puppets doing their activities in the workshop, while an instrumental version of the 1973-1976 theme played.
@@RobotGooseStudios It used to be on RUclips, but I re-posted it here: www.retrojunk.com/content/child/intro/page/42964/pipkins#/content/child/intro/12679/show
the second sequence the location of the shops is Hartforde road in Borehamwood ,the following two locations look like Borehamwood as well where the ATV studios (now the BBC Elstree centre) was.
The theme tune Zaps me right back to my childhood makes me feel sentimental and melancholy for my lost youth I ave to say that the puppets did look like Road kill didn't they 😉😊
Did I dream it, or was there once an episode where Hartley or Topov announced that Mr Pipkin had died? I seem to recall tuning in one day and as soon as the opening credits ended you saw the front of the shop but all was silent. Then H or P explained that Mr Pipkin was no more. Anyone else remember this?
Not every version of the theme song is featured here,I'm afraid....series 3 episode 1 (Johnny's Flat - Hartley's Office) has a slightly different version (see Dizzybug account's download)
The actor who was playing him was named George Woodbridge and he died suddenly of a heart attack only 3 months into the series. They came up with “Inigo being on a fishing holiday” as the excuse for why he was no longer there.
What about the one where it says “Pipkins the workers, Pipkins, Pipkins, going where work is needed”……..“and when Jonny knows the way, we’ll soon be there” ?? That bit has been cut out when Jonny was driving the van..this is cultural vandalism 😡 😉
My baby brother loved this programme, I remember sneakily looking at him while it was on and he was completely absorbed. RIP little bro. X
Your broth passed away 😮
The last one is the best, being ill and off school, it so reminds me of.
Are you Yoda?
The last but one was my era. Can't believe i'm 51 and still feel like a kid!
@Andy It was mine also...I'm 52. ❤
and mine and i'm 56
When it started in 73 I was 12
@@lynzannabel6990I blame this show for my vast consumption of ecstacy until I turned nearly 50 🤣😂
@@glenndouglas8822 😄😉
Ah, the ATV jingle.
Back in the day, as a mini-me, I always used to sing...
# Ding-dang-dong
Der-doh-deeer #
...when it came on LOL
😂
Hartley hare looking like a bad taxidermy raised from the dead. Still loved it as a child though.
LOL yes a long dead hare dug up
This is my son Owain’s , but he let’s me watch RUclips,I’m 60 and I still ❤it
I still love Pipkins despite reaching 49

Whoever designed the opening credits of a child’s show, showing zombie roadkill hanging off the edge of a hearse roof was a genius

Do you have any video evidence? or at least any confirmed evidence of that intro existing?

@@roadrunnercoyote2263 Sorry for the very late reply, I might have to make an updated version now
I thought the woman who sang rupert the bear song, sang the intro to pipkins too jackie something
Hartley Hare was brilliant
A total contrast to the rubbish kids watch these days.
Jeffrey Archer.
they should bring Hartley Hare Back today. was my favourite kid's programme in the 1970's
I'm old enough to remember inigo pipkin.

Deffo, Hartley Hare had a bad case of myxomatosis judging by the state of him!
" Road kill " 😂😂😂
Thing is, they do 😂😂
Jackie Lee did a great version of the theme tune I wrote with Len Beadle all those years ago she was a great talent.
. Ron Roker
The second intro sounds like the same kids who sang theme tune to 'Here Come the Double Deckers'.
They do! Good observation, i wonder if they are the same kids
Furthermore, the first one....Inigo Pipkin sounds like it's sung by the same woman who sang the Rupert the Bear theme!
@@anthonybailey1966 The singer of 'Rupert the Bear' theme was Jackie Lee.
@@speakfreeley4473 ah nice one.....thank you! 👏

The series only lasted for eight years - it seemed to go on forever.
I wish it did. I love this show!

"i'm feeding my plant custard & chips"- Pig. Don't know why I remember this from Pipkins.
My favourite is the 1976 theme. I would love to know what date it was used from and until thy stopped using it.
...what happened to the clip where it describes Topov as 'zombie roadkill'?
🤣🤣🤣
Wasn't that from the hash up Pipkins Hooligans"?
I remember all these
Off school because poorly, bottle of Lucozade with the squeaky wrapper, and undecided to watch this or Crown Court!
Those are not all the songs!! Remember " We're All Part Of One Big Family ' sung by Hartley? !!
Second one is how I remember it
Who sang the first theme song?
I do wonder how us children of the 70's came out sane... LOL
Mmm. Hartley Hare and Zippy, George & Bungle from Rainbow were iconic figures at my grammar school when we were way too old for this! 😀
I think Jackie Lee sang the first one, and sounded like a 1970s Ceris Matthews.
Where did you find the first two openings?! Aren't the first two seasons completely lost?
I found the first opening on RUclips and the other in a video made by Network Distributing (Who released the DVDs).
Hartley Hair made me the man i am today.......

God, I even remember the first one. Whatever happened to Inigo the toymaker?
He died (well, the actor who played him) during the filming of the second series.
The actor who was playing him was named George Woodbridge and he died suddenly of a heart attack only 3 months into the series. They came up with “Inigo being on a fishing holiday” as the excuse for why he was no longer there.
