This tune and Brian Cant's voice.....just makes me want to curl up on the sofa, with Mr Bear and a cup of hot milk, Mum's voice drifting through from the kitchen....rain pattering on the window, warm and safe, not a care in the world, about five years old. Why do we have to grow up.
@@AndyG13GLA He did! He probably did on Trumpton & Camberwick Green, too! Brian Cant was a still a lovely bloke. Didn't know either, but would have liked too!
I met Brian Cant when I was about 10 at some hotel in Norfolk my dad's mate used to own. He was exactly the same lovely bloke you saw on the telly. Silly and fun.
The bit that always got me when I was a kid was the part before this, where the phone rang at the Hall, and the Butler answered it. You always knew they'd soon be going out on the train, which was always my favourite bit. Happy, happy days. Brian Cant should be knighted.
This is my childhood. I grew up in the 90s watching and falling in love with it. I can still lose myself in this world of Chigley, Trumpton and Camberwick Green. All brilliant. I think they should start reshowing these to get a new generation to fall in love with it. xxx
Well. Here I am August 12th 2022! Our ice cream man plays a tune similar to this and I’ve been singing it for weeks. I remembered every word too! Im 68! Hi from Leeds. 😀
A Colleague and I are the same age (he is a month older) and we sing this whenever we see each other as he reminds me of Lord Belborough by the way he walks. It causes a few strange looks but soon all who are of the same age will automatically join in... I wonder how many other children programs will be looked back on after 40 yrs which such fond memories.
I'm 16. My parents brought me this dvd along with Trumpton and Camberwick Green and I was hooked onto that show. People say it's a show for elders but in fact it's for any generation and parents or grandparents I feel are able to share this to their young kids. I was only 3 when I thought out about this and this day I love this show
It doesnt get much better than this. This clip represents such a happy childhood of watching wonderful shows like these. They look as good now as ever and those songs just make you smile. ATVmidlandsUK
Nice! I first came across and watched this kind of program when I was around your age 12 years ago. Still it's animation and styling is quite appealing, unique and inspiring to me!
omg yes! I love shows. I don't remember much of the shows but I do remember this particular song quite well - I'll admit I've been listening too it all day today. I forgot a bit what they were like but watching this brings back so many memories although it is weird having the same childhood memories as 40 year olds and then all my friends don't know what this is haha.
Why don’t the BBC bring TV programmes back like this so that young children today will be able to have the splendid memories that folk comment on today in 2024???
What a tune! As heard on ‘Early doors’, sung by Craig Cash, Phil Mealey et al. Those of a certain age, etc. I’m 60 now and remembering Chigley, Camberwick green and Trumpton brings a tear to my eye. Great days gone forever. 😢
Brian Cant for a knighthood!!!! He's a genius and has made millions of children happy and given many adults happy memories of childhood. Me for one. Thanks Brian!
The TV voice of my infancy! So many of my kids' programs featured the wonderful Brian Cant. Today is the 5/32021 and I've sadly just heard of the demise of Mr Cant. Thankfully he will always be remembered and be with us thanks to people who upload these Televisual treats that I can share with my great-grandchildren. Rest in peace, Mr Cant. 🙏📿🤲

Goodbye Brian Cant and thank you. One of the good guys. Thank heavens the BBC retained Camberwick Green, Trumpton and Chigley in their archive for children of all ages to enjoy forever.
It's amazing that of the three (Trumpton and Camberwick Green being the other two) hardly anyone I mention it to remembers Chigley in regards to it as a series or its name.
Forty five years on, I find it difficult to remember which characters lived in the three towns. I know it was the Trumpton Fire Brigade and the Mayor was in Trumpton but was Pippin Fort in Chigley or Camberwick Green? Windy Miller, I think was Camberwick Green, but what about Chippy Minton? I am guessing Chigley, but I am not sure. Since Cameron and May's Tory governments relaxed the planning laws, I bet the three small towns are just one big conurbation by now, without a green field between them. I bet they are all threatened by hydro-fracking as well. Sigh, they do not make rose-tinted glasses like they used to!
As a youngster, I was always fascinated by the puffy clouds of smoke regularly coming out of it's chimney top- bt thought the steam engine sounds were a bit over the top. Great tune tho.
Just found out about the death of Brian Cant. He played such an important part in my generation's childhood, I'm surprised he never received an OBE like many others.
I found this video by a live stream that also included the quote "Time flies by when im the driver of a train and i ride o- AWW I FELL OF IT!" Angry welshman productions led me to this XD

Getting old: It's a con....
@James Hodson #metoo
Absolutely 🥰
Gordon Murray, Oliver Postgate and Gerry Anderson created a TV landscape for children that will never be matched. So glad I grew up in the 60s & 70s.
Agree. I'm 56 this year. A child of the 70s.
I played guitar on this track. Brian Cant is a lovely bloke!
Wonderful memories of a great man eh
@@jimmyjammer Indeed, he was. The other great thing was that if you named any song, he could sing it!
I thought Freddy Phillips did all the guitar music on all series. It brings back innocent memories.
@@AndyG13GLA He did! He probably did on Trumpton & Camberwick Green, too! Brian Cant was a still a lovely bloke. Didn't know either, but would have liked too!
Brilliant. What a wonderful thing to able to say.
Ha ha. I'm 42 and I still can't help but say 'when you're the driver of a train' when someone says 'time flies by'. Brilliant!
I could never get through that George Ezra song without drifting into this.
You think that's bad I am 33 and I am a volunteer on a narrow gauge railway and everytime I get to drive one of the locos this song pops in to my head
59 and and still makes me smile
Rest in Peace Brian Cant ♥ You gave me so many lovely childhood memories
Uberlaser me too ❤️
Oh my I'm so sad. His son Richard is his double. Check him out in midsummer murders.
Love from Elle x
Such happy memories ♥️

British Childrens TV in the 70's was a wonder
The man deserves a knighthood. Absolute legend. I will never forget the wonderful worlds he created. RIP Brian Cant

Brian Cant - legend. Glorious childhood memories of that great mans narrating voice and Play School and Playaway too.
It’s amazing how all the words come back to you having not heard this for 50 odd years 😅

For anyone who was a kid in the late 60s and 70s this has a lot of meaning. I"m glad I was one of them.

I so much wanted life to be this simple. Although I didn't expect quite the hell that it is.
Etched in my childhood memory, and adult memory too. 😊
I drive trains too for freightliner......chigley...you sugar coated the job!!!
Still, very happy memories of this from when i was a nipper.
I’m 15 but I watched this as kid and it’s so nostalgic to me even tho is such an old program

life seemed so simple then..... kids today dont know what they are missing
RIP Brian Cant. Thanks for this great little song. My childhood wouldn't have been the same without your constant presence on kids telly.
This is one of the most underrated jamz ever!
i loved watching this when i was a younger
A nearly forgotten innocence. How do we get back there?
The Trouble with Trains 2 brought me here! Also, R.I.P. Brian Cant (1933-2017) You are a childhood legend.

there will be something wrong with it that anyone born before 1970 will be oblivious to unfortunately
One word for this series: MONUMENTAL

Brian Cant's lovely singig voice. So pure and unaffected.
