Montana transgender Rep. Zooey Zephyr banned from House after supporting protest | LiveNOW from FOX

Montana’s House of Representatives voted to ban Democratic transgender lawmaker Zooey Zephyr from the chamber, following her support for protesters who shut down the body's proceedings earlier in the week.
Rep. Zephyr of Missoula will still be allowed to vote remotely, but will not be allowed to access the House chamber, anteroom or gallery. Democrats were united against the motion, while Republicans all voted in favor. The measure needed two-thirds of the chamber’s support to pass.
Tom Kuglin, of the Helena Independent Record, joined LiveNOW's Andrew Craft to discuss the censure vote and the events leading up to it.

The issue at hand is that Zooey Zephyr used dramatic and hyperbolic speech to try to strongarm the vote. Also Zooey egged on disruptive protesters. End of story.

Let's be real here, Americans have a right to protest, especially when the government wrongs them. These protests occurred before censure and we're entirely the result of the speaker using his power to deny a representative the ability to speak, based solely on political disagreement. That is and should be unheard of, and it should be met with protest. By silencing a representative, you are also silencing the people they represent, especially in a supermajority-held house where their voices go unheard as a rule.

I don't agree with what Zephyr said, but it seems to me that the Republicans were wrong to silence someone simply because they were insulted by what had been said to them. Zephyr in turn may have been wrong to egg on the protestors but that doesn't excuse the Republicans. If you won't stand up for the right of others to offend you, how do have any credibility in arguing for your right to express views that offend them?
