"Smaller creators like me" man you've probably influenced me more than any other professor! I'm 20 and sometimes I still find it incredible to be so young and live in a time where we have people like you just tossing so much good quality information, techniques and stories for the world to use! Thank you for everything you do and I hope you know that you're helping many little parts of the world develop quality work and work philosophy, sometimes reserved for only developed nations..
wish this channel was available 6 years ago... I actually regret discovering you so late. First year architectural student, this guy is your guy. Listen to him, he has too much insight.
From the beginning of 2017 I was following your channel..I'm a young architect graduated from Cuba and practising in Sri Lanka. Your information helped me alot to develop in my career this year and there is a huge progress in the way you do presentations..that inspires me alot.
glad the vids are helping you and I so appreciate you noticing the change in quality...i set as a goal in early 2017 to make this channel a better experience...comments like this - which i really appreciate - help me to know I'm made the right choice...thanks for sticking with me...cheers...
every art class you possibly can fit...writing, speech/debate would be helpful to up your presentation skills, add in some calculus at some point, a little physics and you'll be set...good luck!
just getting the chance to follow your videos and learn new things daily from you makes me grateful.i am a third year architecture student and i love your work.
I love your work, I've been following you for a while, but actually, just a few week or two in insta, you're one of my inspiration. There's nothing like what you do in Spanish. Thank you for sharing,
Wow, this was eye opening! When watching your videos I get reassured that I made the right choice to study architecture and I see the endless opportunities in my professional growth. From your videos the profession doesn't seem so black and gray as some teachers portray it to be.
You're an inspiration Eric. You've opened up numerous avenues to my day to day activities by showing how can we make the most out of the most subtle things we have. Cheers.
Felt relaxing to see that you're a metalhead.[ i am too]. You make really decent content. And yes, i noticed the horn at the end of the video. Ever felt that the current architecture/design field really lacks an extreme fantasy? The ones that we dream about. We, the introvert designers.
I stumbled on your videos a few weeks ago and I’ve been watching non stop since. These are amazing informative videos and I’m so glad I found them. Thanks so much
Thanks again, Eric. I just spent the better part of my morning staring at the instagram interface feeling old. This coming from someone who has grown up in and around social media and technology made it quite the gut check.
Very inspiring. I’ve been hesitant about having a professional profile on Instagram and this video encouraged me to create my account as soon as possible. Thank you!!
Thanks for this video! It's very informative and I loooove the editing. Not an architect myself, but an artist who's very interested in architecture and its aesthetics.
The part I'm more excited about is the stories feature, it is essentially an tool to make grounded and fun behind the scenes, but it is also an opportunity to show a little bit of your personality and tell a story! (that's why they may be called stories lol)
Another great video - concise, informative and interesting! We (sole proprietor Architects) would love to see your thoughts on Project Management tools such as Trello, Notion, Redbooth, etc. You are helping me reform my thought process and management procedures - very exciting to watch someone who loves their work and life!!
I really appreciate all the beneficial information shared by Eric sir. The professionalism with which he presents is simply amazing! May God bless you, sir.
you're awesome. : ) you always give good advise n tips for architects. nowadays knowledge is the best currency and you share with us this is good. thank you
Great tips to use! One thing I heard and kind of found about Business accounts. It seems like Instagram will hide your post a little from other people to force you to pay for sponsorship. Using tags won't help as much. Maybe switch to a Business once your following reaches a certain amount?
I wish I had this type of experience 30 years ago. Now, as a “boomer”, I can only view from afar. Your vids are professional, inspirational and engaging - a born teacher. #tonystencelartist recovering designer & former combat artist (long story)
Hi, i'm curious on your viewpoint as an architect. Would you pay a big architecture page for promoting/sharing on of your projects with their worldwide audience? Or do you think it is not that interesting for and architect, because most of them only work in a relatively local area.
Cheers as always Eric. This Christmas break making a professional Instagram and website is at the top of my to-do list and your advice is super helpful! Do you think an account as a student is just as important as a working professional account? Interested in you view as the work we produce (as you would know) is all process and pure design. Have a lovely Christmas and can't wait to view all the content for the coming year!
hi james...you can always convert your personal account to a professional one so not a lot of skin in either decision...the main benefits of the pro account are: it gives you access to analytics, opens the ability to do paid promotions, and the swipe up feature on stories (once you reach 10K followers) is nice. lots of value to be had there, but you can start a personal one and begin learning the ropes as a launching point. i didn't get into this in the video, but before i meet with someone i don't know (client, student, artist, another pro) i always check their insta feed. it's like a modern-day business card...the earlier you start cultivating your portfolio there (and btw, process photos are really interesting to a broad audience, not just future employers or biz contacts)...the farther ahead of your competition you'll be. becoming a practitioner is always a winning strategy. cheers + happy christmas to you!
Cheers for the reply Eric. Really good points, I think this is going to be really important as I'll be finishing my part one and moving onto my part 2. Thanks for covering this topic Eric you really give great advice that just can't be found in other places very easily!
As a student or someone who has recently graduated, do you still recommend having separate accounts? A personal one and one where I can showcase my student work/process and even some professional work.
Hi. Even though I am not an architect, I watched two of your videos and was hooked. May I ask what font do you use in your videos? Thanks in advance, and best wishes.
Loved the video! I got inspired to follow you and a bunch of other architects and designers and it got me so excited! @tessalikesdesign , keep up the content! x
another great one.. I was thinking what made you choose youtube over vimeo? ((just hit into vimeo myself “as a consumer” carto uses that.) and I found out it is possible to save the videoes for the gym where they dont stream internet, really miss that from youtube)
decision to use YT was pretty easy: youtube is the second largest search engine (behind google which owns YT)...that's the big one...I love vimeo + esp. the quality, but the content isn't discoverable. so, it's just much easier to build an audience and following on YT... i think if you sub to YT RED you can download for offline viewing.
Mr.Eric, I will start my bachelor's degree in architecture at the next year february. Do you have any advice for what to prepare and anything to revise from highschool? I'm excited and nervous right now because since I was 13 I want to be an architect 😣
You're entering a really exciting time in your life...i'm envious! you might check the viewer question playlist as this topic has been covered in a few different ways: ruclips.net/p/PLuJj3iQpiK3sAAqAdN866op8vJcgXlZNu and more specifically here: ruclips.net/video/5kZvgiJGgmU/видео.html (toward the end of the video)...enjoy!
Sir, I have been watching your videos for a while and your presentation are very neat. Just want to ask, if you use any kind of software to create these template? Thanks
Hello, I am a French student in architecture and I would like to know if you had any advice to find the inspiration that you use yourself, if reading books of architecture help and if so if you had some book to advise me . Continue like that I love your videos
as a consumer i never got into instagram since unlike pintrest it is somehow sorting strange and I have never invested time to figure out how it works. will give it another chance and check your links.thanks
agree pinterest has the edge for searchability...i really do love pinterest...but so many of my clients are on insta it's impossible to ignore...and, the opportunity to reach them is huge right now...lots of underpriced attention there...
Great channel, new subscriber here. Very good information. I recently relocated from a very urban setting, back home to a much more rural area... much smaller population. As the only licensed architect in this specific area in finding myself more opportunities in my professional development. A professional Instagram account doesn't seem necessary in this situation at first glance, but i think i should attempt it just to present myself as more professional. In a small populated area, my Facebook friends consist of old classmates, family, friends, clients, pretty much everybody. My Facebook runs the gamut of cat photos, political gripes, silly daily things... just EVERYTHING! I'd be interested in suggestions you might provide for me to transition from local non-serious guy to a more professional representation of our profession...and how 'local yokels' might be interested in following?
Welcome to the channel...glad to have you here...you're in luck, I just made a video on this: ruclips.net/video/GfaCN0-RkP0/видео.html I've had some amazing leads that converted into real projects directly from my Instagram...lots of advice in that video you can put into practice...
Ok so im a student in architecture university in greece now and for my experience so far people that use instagram 80% of the time is crap.. i myself dont have an account but most of the people that im surrounded with do have and its what it says to be, a social media app nothing more. I can say that u get profit from it if you are a photographer or perhaps anyone that NEEDS that selling point because is the place that they will see it and its wellknown, but you have to think about the thing that i call ''respect aspect''. As i said 80% its bs the people, the way they use photos and the app like you dont have to become like this and get involve to that level of mainstream. Architects see the world differently, its there talent its the way that makes them special why become part of something all can do. There are tons of infomation on the internet on books events etc. to find knowledge, appreciation and talent. You can say that we are evolving to a new way of communication and advertisment but i hate to become part of this mainstream. Think about the movie The Fountainhead thats the best example of someone that noone wanted to succeed but did it and the way his mindset was its ,personally, one of the best ways an architect can think of.
I found this incredibly helpful. Mine is only personal for now, but this gave me some food for thought. This is the only social media I am using right now. I usually don't but I have a newborn and lots of time to sit while nursing and wanted to stay connected with the outside world while doing so during this intensive time. When first using it I realized it is very different from the other social platforms. There seemed to be some sort of etiquette, but I don't think I am following the mold. I was looking that up when your timely video appeared. That is what I like about social media how people can use it as a tool and customize it for themselves. @elissarosin
Thanks a lot about the video and your tips from your work! I'm just wondering how you manage your time well in your field. I mean how do you work deeply and be focused in your passion amidst in the distracted world and full of social media we are living. Does it affect your work since you answer frequently your emails every day and post photos in Instagram? I agree there is a positive side or effects on using the network tool, yet does it affect the beauty of your work every time you have projects and specifically, which is cannot be argued, your precious time? (I'm an 18 year old who also wanted myself to be an architect like you. Thanks for the inspiration.) @johncanero
you've described the problem precisely...wonder if you've seen this video of mine yet: ruclips.net/video/nLUU6wcA3qE/видео.html that describes how i compartmentalize my day between making (in the morning) and managing (in the afternoon). i had to dial back all my social media in the past few weeks to step back and be with family...it was so enjoyable, and now i feel like i have to rediscover my discipline again! It's a constant battle...just be intentional, that's my advice.
Hey, watched this video as I just started creating an Instagram account for my upcoming studio: instagram.com/lumitecture. Thanks for all the tips on how to curate your feed and who to follow. will be watching and learning more from you.

I am a peruvian student of civil engineering but I am passionate about architecture. I just discovered your RUclips channel and immediately look for it on Instagram. It's amazing, like in less than a year, you've gained so many followers. Great video. Follow me on Instagram as diegomerinolara.

hi james...you can always convert your personal account to a professional one so not a lot of skin in either decision...the main benefits of the pro account are: it gives you access to analytics, opens the ability to do paid promotions, and the swipe up feature on stories (once you reach 10K followers) is nice. lots of value to be had there, but you can start a personal one and begin learning the ropes as a launching point. i didn't get into this in the video, but before i meet with someone i don't know (client, student, artist, another pro) i always check their insta feed. it's like a modern-day business card...the earlier you start cultivating your portfolio there (and btw, process photos are really interesting to a broad audience, not just future employers or biz contacts)...the farther ahead of your competition you'll be. becoming a practitioner is always a winning strategy. cheers + happy christmas to you!

Nice videos, I think video about pinterest would be more useful👍
love pinterest for sure...but, my clients are all on instagram...
what's been your experience, have you been getting clients from pinterest?
Hello there
hey there...thanks for checking in first...appreciate it!
I am a peruvian student of civil engineering but I am passionate about architecture. I just discovered your RUclips channel and immediately look for it on Instagram. It's amazing, like in less than a year, you've gained so many followers. Great video. Follow me on Instagram as diegomerinolara.
Just starting my instagram @scratch_design.zm and this video is really useful
