Haha thanks for showing that it’s not all easy and things aren’t always perfect.

    Hahaha.
That's when I would chainsaw it in half and call it a day

I am not sure why you wouldn't just cut it where it starts to bend. Short log, true, but it is what it is.

Definitely a valid question! The winch can only be placed in the slots where you put in log stops. So if I made shorter sections, they would still be too heavy for me to lift onto the mill, and the winch cable wouldn't be centered on the log section. Since I don't have any other equipment to use to load the logs, that was the only option I really had. As far as usable lumber, there was some extra length gained by not cutting it, but it was minimal for sure. So from that standpoint you're right, it didn't make sense lol

@@HonestHomesteading I appreciate the struggle, sometimes it takes a bystander to point out the obvious. That big bow in the log made it kind of like a giant fish flopping around on the deck and impossible to control.

@@michaeldose2041 Honestly, while I got a bit greedy trying to get every bit of lumber out of this one, it was an excellent learning opportunity. Once I finish editing the rest of my footage in a week or two, you'll see it was not actually impossible to do. Though for the time I put into it, it's hard to say it was worth the amount of lumber I got! But when I reviewed this footage, I thought it too funny not to share! 😂
