Great job and a great video covering one of my favorite places. I have made 10-12 trips to southern Utah over the past 15 years and every time I get back home, I'm already dreaming about the next trip. Hwy 12 is just fabulous! Looking forward to your next video.
I had to pause (6:40) and read about the Pithouse: why live underground. My husband is HVAC guy so I know the eheory but it is just proof that along with the beauty, you take the time to film such interesting facts. It’s why we all return again and again. Thanks again for taking us along. Blessings.
I love John’s zingers:) many years ago we had to take our motorcycles down the Burr trail to make it to the ferry on time. My wife’s bike was never the same after the several miles of washboard. Tnx for the memories:)
DEBBY & JOHN, , wow, very nice trip, I just love aspens in fall, my paternal grand, ma had a photo, I think from a calendar She had it framed,,A very large expanse of golden aspens, I last saw it in about 1956, NEVER EVER FORGOT IT , then those roads wth zero rails , just like parts of JAMAICA, 200 ft easy, & they were wrecks, , anyhow thanks for the ride, cheers 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Covered some of that area last fall and very nice to see it again. Definitely gorgeous sunset. Campgrounds and dispersed areas have definitely been crowded this Covid year. Enjoyed as always.
Hi Debbie new subscriber here. You definitely deserve more subscribers, love your content and attitude. You so well spoken and intelligent. Thank you for sharing
Thank you and welcome. I made a conscious decision when I started to just focus on why I started doing this which was to learn how to edit and to try to add value. And I especially appreciate the interaction with folks like you.
I hope you stop at Singing Canyon next week (right off Burr Trail about 10 mi east of Boulder) to sing us a song. Amazing acoustics! Hell's Backbone Grill! Now you're eating' right.
You guys are brave to always adventure onto dirt paths. Kudos to you! Although I have a PW, I'd worry too much about my rig falling apart from all the vibrations or damaging my underside systems. We just came back from our trip to Utah and Arizona and have enjoyed the similar roads we traveled, especially the ones you and John traveled that we chickened out on! 😂
“Ain’t gonna happen” 😂 We’re with you John but we understand the need to downsize everything even more now. But sacrificing sleep makes for grumpy days especially after long hikes you guys took. WOW! What a trip you’ve had just this fall! Wish we’d gone ahead and come out there this fall now. Oh well... soon. And get that spare bathroom ready for our cassette toilet. 😂😂 Much love from NC (for now). See you again next Thursday. Owen, Lynn and Maggie
We're looking forward to all the great content you'll be creating with that new rig. Really interested how you get rid of those rattles. That's why we rarely record while driving. Just too noisy.
Pillow - I'm a side sleeper and like(need) a firm pillow. I took a king pillow and cut it 1/3-2/3 to make a travel and home pillows. You apparently missed a great slot canyon at the top of the switchbacks. On the right the direction you were going. Look for parking....
Capitol Reef looks amazing! Actually everything in the video looks amazing... even John doing the floss “thing” 😂 I think we will pass on those switchbacks - washboard and 12% grade - perfect music for it!
I don't think those were "Owen Happy Dances" at 9:41!! Living vicariously through all y'all! But who knows... travel is in our blood, so after all this pandemic fiasco is over, we'll be off on our own grand adventures! Be seeing you!
I think early October. Haven't been there in the spring but I bet that's a great time too. But do watch out for the rain if you plan to travel any dirt roads.
I ment to ask about your battery condition while using your new 12volt fridge boon docking for 3 days without hook up. does the solar charging helps to offset your power consumption.
@@FromShetoMe I'm curious, do you have an inverter that you occasionally turn on to use 110 power for anything? I live in this area and I'm enjoying your view of it all, thanks.
@@FromShetoMe Thank you for the quick reply. We have almost the same set-up as you regarding solar, batteries, 2000 watt inverter. However we do not have the 12 volt fridge that you have. Our set-up is in a vintage Airstream and we only have a small 110 volt fridge which takes a lot of battery power though the inverter when turned on. We very much like the 12 volt fridge you've installed and hope to do the same in the near future. Thanks for all your information. Safe travels, Spike & Sue
@@SpikeRess We are so happy we made the switch from propane. I'm surprised you could even go one night with a 110 fridge. Best of luck with the switch.
Great video as I plan my trip through Utah next week. Was the dispersed camping spot in Escalante your stayed called Hole in the Rock? I am trying to map out my spots in advance! Thanks!
I'm afraid I just don't remember any more but one place was on the way to a slot canyon hike that was great. And there are lots of spots near Capitol Reef.
Wow what a beautiful area. When you’re airing down tires, how do you know how far to go? I’m not familiar with doing this as I’ve not driven on dirt roads much yet. TIA.
John did some research and even contacted another RUclipsr (overland bound) to get some recommendations. Of course it also depends on what tires and wheels you have.
I think you are referring to the Moonshade. The company is called Moonfab. They just came out with a new accessory called a Moon Wall for even more shade. Moonfab.com
Very nice video of a beautiful area, but you were traveling on Utah 12, not US 12. US 12 runs from Detroit to Aberdeen, Washington, and does not pass through Utah.
@@FromShetoMe It is not like the canyons and other sites to see, but the mountains, and the quiet serene silence of the mountain lake, with all the trees and wildlife is still an experience to remember. Then as you come off the mountain near the cattle grazing fields surrounding the town, in the rocks by the road you can see some grooves in the rock, this is where early settlers would ride wood sleds down the rock. Then off to the other side in the rocks is a natural formation that looks like a giant dog paw.
Nice drone aerial shots, Thanks for sharing.

I would love to do the trip to the ferry. Hope they bring it back.
I really wanted to jump through the screen and enjoy the scenery. How spectacular!
Debbie, you do nothing but getting better & better in every which way. You are such an inspiration, thanks so much for sharing your gifts with us!!!

That is why Utah is so unique ,just look at those landscapes , towering red and brown rock formations it is a road trip paradise .
You’re really making me miss Utah. Those beautiful aspens and the mountains
Outstanding! Thank you for taking the time to share with us
You all find the best hikes! The scene with fall foliage and the moon was particularly beautiful. 🌛
Beautiful! Thank you for that escape from our blizzard❄️☃️
Yes. The most beautiful drive. We stayed at the calf creek.campground. One of our favorite stays.
You’ve shown us some beautiful scenery! And, you always choose perfect music to go along with it.
Love fall foliage. We are even getting some in Dallas. You guys are the best. Like your music a lot.
Just beautiful!
Beautiful landscape! Thank you for sharing! 👍🙏🏻😘🐾🐾🇬🇧
This might be my favorite of all your hikes so far. Also, great music selection. Felt like I was watching an old western.
We always enjoy your videos! This one, in particular, has perfectly matched music as well. Excellent job!
Thank you so much, you do a wonderful job with your videos.
Such a beautiful area. Thank you very much for recording and editing. Greetings from Bavaria, Germany.
Beautiful video folks. This has been on my list of places to go for years
Love it when you add the maps so helpful

What incredible footage! Thanks!
I loved the cloud timelapses from your dispersed camping spot. Really, the whole video just made me smile!
Loving this series of videos. They make me want to go back and explore the area more fully.
What a delightful trip so far! Thank you Debbie
Beautiful! I love you and John. Wish Vicky and I were along, too, but watching your videos is a great 2nd option.

Absolutely beautiful scenery made me want to go until I saw the switchbacks. I'm glad you are sharing your journey with us.
Some great scenary and landscapes, would love to travel the US.
Keep up the footage, nice to share your travels & stories 👍
Ha. Learned a new word today: Scouse. Love learning english from the brits.

More great dispersed camping locations to travel to and explore the wide open West!

1000 lake is named after thousand lake mountain
From Boulder take the mountain road over Hell's backbone (one lane bridge), camp at Posey lake, then down into Escalante.
