  • I ride from Isiolo to Nanyuki, at the foot of Mount Kenya, in Africa. The day is really hard, with a monumental 45 kilometers long climb to start the day. On the way, I meet several fantastic Kenyan people. Kenya is definitely an awesome country to visit.

Another wonderful video. However, there are a few points that require clarification. Firstly, it's important to note that Khat is not illegal to chew in Kenya 🇰🇪; the individuals in the video may simply be camera-shy. Secondly, when traveling between Isiolo and Nanyuki, the first Bantu group you will encounter is the Ameru. Meru County is not only renowned for the best Khat but also serves as the agricultural hub of Kenya. The Ameru people are the most distant Bantu group in Africa, closely related to the Kikuyus, but distinct from them. Additionally, it's worth mentioning that a part of Nanyuki falls within Meru County, and two-thirds of Mount Kenya is situated on the Ameru side.

Simama means "stand" or "stop." Depends on the context. In this case, they meant stop. They wanted to see your bike.

I love your videos @ Kino Yves, they really make one to just want to go for safari. Karibu Kenya, Kenya is a very beautiful country, with friendly people , warm and welcoming.
Let me explain about 'simama' - 'Simama' has 2 meanings
    1. it can mean stand up if you're seated.
    2. it can also means stop if you're moving.
In your case Yves you're moving, so they were telling you to stop so that they can see your trike.
Safe journey and remember as you go towards Nairobi, there will more cars on the road and public vehicles called 'matatu'.
