Nice garden bench/seat. The pointy needle tool your using looks like an "Awl" the long strip hinge is a piano hinge in English as well. I love your project here. really neat. I think I will need to make one also. Thanks for the idea and the how too video! Love using up scraps too! Ser Gut Mein Herr! AND always good to have a happy wife too!
Great little project. Very useful too for any old creaky gardeners - if they’ve been kneeling down weeding, they can use it to push themselves back up 😊
That's great little project. I have found when installing hinges and brackets with multiple holes start by marking/securing the two outter most ones. Then usie a self centering spring loaded punch to do tbe others. They work great and qiuckly.
Smart woodworking with excellent and interesting philosophy taped separately from the background. I have long admired people who speak two languages well, even with a couple of challenges. I also liked the glue spill. We all have those, mostly off camera. It was honest and fun to leave it in. Thank you for sharing this practical project, for explaining alternatives, and entertaining us along the woodworking way.
I really like this little garden bench! I’m a new subscriber and the first time to watch one of your videos, keep the projects coming, I know you told everyone the dimensions of your project as you were cutting and making it, but it would probably to have a material list in the video description for those of us that get so easily distracted lol, we can go back and read the list. Thank you for sharing your project and your video, you did a great job!
It is called a Wood Awl. 🤔But, you can call it an itty bitty wood needle! Also in English, it is still called a piano hinge. Which is strange, as I never hear any piano music using it! 😮😅 Oh forgot to mention, it might be a good idea to split the bottom of the legs, with say a triangle space (or any gap you prefer ) leading up to the point in the middle, about 4-5”. That way, when the missus uses it on an irregular surface, less chance of it rocking.
Thanks for letting me know! Yes, I considered splitting the legs, but I was a bit concerned that they would sink too deep into the soil when someone is sitting on it. I guess, we'll see how things turn out after a few uses.
@@niclasklinner.woodworker True, yet, even the long flat legs can sink if it is that soft. I tend the garden, know how it can be, and the only thing diminishing that, is a wider foot bottom. Oh well, still, that is a sweet bench.
I’ll think, but I’m not absolutely sure, because your camera work needs a little work. LOL Your wife was pulling up what appeared to be, again because of your camera work, purslane. I hope she’s not throwing it out or composting it. It is great in a salad or a stirfry!
thanks for sharing nice project. in UK we call the tool an awl and also a piano hinge.
That is really cute! Great idea and very handy to have. I also have to draw a picture of what I want. It just helps me see it.

Nice bench. Those onions look really nice too.
Thanks! Yes, they do!
Thank you for mentioning changing the blade on the table saw. I never thought about that.
You're welcome! Yes, it's easy to forget but important and it only takes a few seconds.

Thanks!
Simple is good. Thanks for sharing.
It’s a good idea. I made one like that for my wife and in Texas we call that a piano hinge
thanks! Guess we call it same here in Manitoba.
Nicely done. I too have too many scraps lying around and that's a perfect project.
Absolutely!
What a fun project! I am going to try it out right now!!
Thanks! Good luck!
Great Idea. I made a bench for my wife to use in garden. I will replace it with this one love the storage box.

That's a great piece for the garden.

Thanks! I will keep that in mind!
Great project and thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
I used an ice pick to make my indents for drilling for decades. It worked.
Guess that's not a bad idea.
The ice pick is Jimmy Diresta's tool of choice for layout marking and he seems to know what he is doing so you are in good company.
Nice project 🎉 ..
What a great idea nice work my friend , thanks for sharing your knowledge and skill with us😊
thanks!
the tiny needle is called an awl
Hello Niclas Great idea I was thinking You could put a Built-in Cushion on the Seat .And maybe put something either side to hold small Garden Tools.
that's a great idea, too!
Very nice!
thanks!

Pianos are very shy and nocturnal, so it’s rare to see them using the hinge. A infrared trail camera is useful in catching them using the hinge. 😂
It's called a center punch to mark holes to drill.
Prima, viel Spaß damit
Thanks!
That punch tool is called an awl (pronounced all). Hope that helps. 💖💖👍👍🙏🙏👍👍💖💖
Absolutely!
Sehr praktisch 👍
Thanks!
Piano hinge is right.
If you fix a batten on the ends to support the ends of the lid it’ll survive sitting/standing on!
It’s called a ‘Bradawl’.
Very nice to offer east projects for beginners. My wife asked me why the extra passes on the miter saw. It is to help with chipout correct? Thanks
Thanks. Yes, that is one of the reasons. Douglas Fir is notorious for getting surface chipouts.
I like it do you have any measurements for it?
I will put some measurements in the description later today.
It's called an awl.
Nice. What are the sizes?
thanks! Will provide some measurements as soon as I find some time.
I never seem to get a straight glue up without cowls….what’s your secret? 🤔
I don't know. Maybe just practice...
Metal needle in English is an awl :)
thanks!
like it
thanks!
the hinge goes on the outside, not in between the seat and the base
piano hinge is correct pointy tool =awl[all]
Thanks for letting me know!

I have no idea. I'm not the gardener at home. Will let her know.
It’s called an awl
Thanks!
The tool is an awl.
