Delightful characters. Jennifer was as potty in life as she appears in the series. She died in the arms of my doctor friend and with such dignity. When diagnosed with cancer (and she was riddled it with it) she didn't complain. commenting that she's smoked all her life and knew the risks. In addition she had a strong personal faith and believed that she was going to a better place. In a documentary on her life I was delighted to heat that after a difficult life Two Fat Ladies not only provided her with financial security but more importantly were the happiest days of her life. Clarissa Dixon-Wright was an honest fascinating character. Her biography Spilling The Beans is well worth reading. I think Jennifer's biography should have been called, had it been written - Zest For Life.
It always cheers me to hear Jennifer at the end day "It's been a lovely day, enormous fun. I loved it."
Two Fat Ladies was certainly a unique show and entertaining still 25 years later.

The way I’ve always interpreted it was that they did respect each other deeply. Being two different women thrust together as it were is always a challenge but they both knew it was a great opportunity and took to it with gusto. Jennifer never would hold back on her drinking for Clarissa’s sake, but Clarissa never stated it was something that irritated her (only once being a bit afraid during the segment of them shooting for game). Jennifer was often a bit intimidated by Clarissa’s academic intellect (although Clarissa was prone to making exaggeration at times) but when it came to cooking they respected each others taste and opinions tremendously. They had what we would call a decent working relationship, not the best of friends but clearly proud of their joint accomplishment. And both very good at putting on a show (particularly Jennifer)

Jennifer says, "I'll be back." At 9:00, Clarissa says, "I shall wait in eager anticipation." 😅
I found an online article published on 20 March 2014 with this sort of thing; 'They were not friends,’ says PR executive Ian Scott, a long-term confidant of Jennifer, who also became close to Clarissa. ‘Jennifer in particular couldn’t stand Clarissa and was often quite horrible about her. She’d call her “that dreadful woman”. And the article continued. Still, I liked the show and still enjoy watching it. They were unique, entertaining, and just fun to watch. 😂💙

Huh, I thought clam chowder was made with heavy cream. Cripe everytime someone goes nutmeg and 17th century I think of Townsends.

I like clam chowder with or without the cream. Manhattan-style chowder has a tomato-based broth and is very good, of course it all depends on the seasinings. I'm a fan of Townsends too.

Hema Gurunh, Rather than casting stones, appointing yourself Clrissa judge and jury why don't you either enjoy her wit and talent or watch judge Judy. People who are quick to judge need to take a personal inventory. Go stuff some tomatoes!

Good for her, too. Everybody should be so lucky as to have 3 million pounds to squander, go broke, and end up with a wildly popular cooking show that lives on after they are gone. Must have been doing something right.
