@@marcusthedarkness1065 it's to do with the level Nelson is. At 2000 fide he is brilliant at chess compared to an average person but further from GM than a beginner is to him. He is about as good as you can possibly get widely applying and mastering general principles. Above Nelson's level, things get weird. They get weird because GMs break a lot of rules, the break rules because of dynamic compensation and positional imbalances. Games of chess when no one blunders simple tactics are won by creating imbalances and weaknesses and where one side can better take advantage of those weaknesses and imbalances than the other. You have to be proficient and knowledgeable in all the rules and principles of chess to understand why GMs are breaking them otherwise there is little to be gained from watching a GM game. Also, trying to copy GM play without understanding this will often lead to getting absolutely crushed Whereas Nelson, also being a great instructor, will show you exactly how to play principled chess at a level where the principles are mastered which everyone can understand and aspire to get to.
Hikaru’s good he does a great job of course he has GM games he’s explaining it’s not going to be stuff I’d be able to calculate myself but it’s interesting to watch just have to follow how the game is going
It's amazing that I found your content super instructive when I was 900 elo and starting chess 16 months ago. Now I'm 1800 rapid 1600 ECf and your content is still super instructive at a totally different level!
Im watching your Chanel for almost a year now. Love it! I also just started playing chess a year ago. You are doing a great job to make me even more enthusiastic about chess. Love the 3 hour live games a lot. Congrats with the 2400 rating, so cool! Im watching you from a little town in the Netherlands, Europe. 😉👍
Hi Nelson, congratiulations with ur first ever 2400 achievement. Im proud of u and im sure all the other vieuwers also do. Last game was an unfortenate loss but next week u will beat a 2500+ player.
I learned something from watching Witty Alien: to farm brilliants, you have to play sub optimally and be willing to lose, a lot. No shade meant for Witty, I love the guy.
@2:25:30 or so. You promised the stream wouldn't end until you got 3 brilliant moves but you never said you would play chess the whole time. Just saying, you could go to sleep for 6 hours as long as the stream is running :)
I’ve went from 600 ELO to 950 just from watching Nelson play. I literally imagine I’m him and think in his voice during my games. I need to learn more than just my 3 opening theories though. And calculate more than 2 move lines.
Hey Nelson! Love your channel! Can you analyze low ELO player's games to show us what not to do. Something similar to what Levy Rozman does on Gotham chess. Always fun to watch others blunder but also educational.
Yes but less "guess the Elo" or just entertainment focused and more like a deep dive into 3-4 games of one player, and how to analyze WHERE you need to improve. I.e. your tactical vision is great but your opening repertoire with white is putting you in bad positions early, etc And teaching how to analyze in that way in your own games
It's called "Danger level" yes he is threatening taking the rook but ee treating to take his queen so he has to move his queen and then we can deal with the rook attack It's like in between move but you gotta be careful when using this tactics you can easily blunder
Like 40 minutes in, you had a passed d pawn. Could you have gotten your rook behind it and started pushing? I have really enjoyed watching your channel! I have learned a lot. I have been watching for about three months now and I attribute many of my recent wins to the things I have learned from you. Also, brilliant moves have been much more frequent!
Content idea: Analyzing wild low Elo chess games in between streams. This will add a lighthearted comic relief on the channel while also being educational generate a lot of views. Those videos are rewatchable and everyone likes to watch some bad chess here and there because it’s relatable.
@chessvibesofficial I’d say it’s almost 50/50. You can explain where the thought process went wrong behind each move while also explaining what the best move would have been. I don’t mean in the streams themselves, I mean an idea for a separate 20 minute video of dramatic chess games. I think most of the chess players on RUclips are 800 and below and could benefit from the content while also enjoying a laugh. Don’t listen to what the others are saying. Those videos do very well on Levy’s channel. People like it.
I saw some other comments saying this but a Nelson guess the elo/ low elo chess analysis content would be very fun and would get back to the basics on chess education which is also why I love the rating climb series so much, I learn a lot from chess games around 1000 elo and intermediate players
Great stream! There definitely should have been more brilliant moves, but 2400 is even better. Also, I'm pretty sure chess playing foxes are almost impossible to beat. Very tricky.
You had 1 Brilliant move, you beat Magnus and you crossed 2400 for the first time all in one stream. That 3 Brilliant moves. Congratulations. Also, I feel your pain from the last game. Been there many times and lost for various reasons. 2450 should be your next goal.
Nelson, why don't you change your settings to play people who are plus or minus 25 points above or below your rating only? You wouldn't be loosing so many points when you're not wining against a lower rated player. Am I missing something?
I have a video idea, how to know when to capture a piece in the corner. Because sometimes I want to capture a rook in the corner, but then I end up getting my own piece trapped somehow.
I one day would also like to discuss with myself whether my move was great or brilliant, but for now I will argue with myself on whether my move was reasonable.
What would be more powerful on the Chess Board... 39 ♟️'s and nothing else, or 3 Queens, 1 ♟️ , 2 bishops, a Knight, and a rook or 7 knights, 3 Bishops, and a Queen or, finally, 6 rooks, a Knight, a bishop, and 3 ♟️s They all add up to 39 points of material so chose wisely
I keep saying that players with a single letter initial as there profile picture are cheaters in my experience and watching other people come across cheaters I’m telling you watch those accounts !!
Yeah but what if God wants those other people to have a higher elo too? How does that work? Whoever has sinned less? Which one has the little fish on their car?

This is a W chess channel man. I feel like I actually get better at chess watching this. Whenever I watch Hikaru I just never understand the moves.

Congrats on 2400! Huge stuff!

Kudos for that rook move!!!
2:00:00 Can't get a brilliant move for an instant attack on a more valuable piece. The sacrifice has to be at least one move ahead. Nice win though!
Nelson, don't forget that you performed a 2nd brilliant move. You moved above 2400.
Nelson loves gambits. The problem with a gambit is that, unless you get a winning position, you lose material for nothing.
That’s why they’re called gambits bud, “gambit” literally means ‘a risky strategy with high upside that may not pay off’
2:23:00 is "counterintuitive" yet it was what I was yelling for during the live game.. :)
For some weird reason I always find the top moves when watching your videos but can't translate that into my own games😢
Man, last game felt like mine. I almost beat my highest player of 1950 and somehow missed mate in 2 after a brilliant queen sac :(
I am in currently in a tilt. Was less than 10 points away from 1300 then dropped to 1100s. lol. It happens. Trying to focus more. I need discipline.
