Totally agree I had a 800 renagade sold it and brought a 650 pro more practical and does the same job. Never really needed all the renagade power as I am more of a weekend explorer has good load capacity for all my gear the 2020 only cost me $12,500 Aussie really really happy. Thanks Can Am 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍✌️
I just bought the 2020 650 and I am very pleased with it I was actually looking for the 1000 but it would have taken to long to order and the 650 is all I need right now I love it so far only an hour of riding I can imagine the 850 and 1000 are Insane thanks for the video
I have the 650 Max Winter Edition (250kms), I was towed out of the woods a couple of days ago (by older Arctic Cat TRV 500....😢) because the engine stopped and would not start. I discovered a blown fuel pump fuse......hope it’s an isolated incident. Also, I find the driveline makes some interesting clunking noises when transitioning between engine power(pull) vs engine braking, particularly descending in low gearing, also widely known as “Canam Clunk”, I’ve been told by dealer that it’s normal engineered drive line play necessary to prevent damage. Otherwise the performance, comfort and handling are superb. Would love to see more videos relating to long term reliability of older machines, not just performance based reviews of new machines. Love the channel!
I really enjoyed this review. I have been going back and forth on a 850cc or 1000cc engine. Becsuse like you, I have an "ego" problem. But this made me feel a lot more optimistic about choosing a 650. Also the Mossy Oak addition. Not a fan of the cammo, but for what you get, that's a great deal for a can am.
I have a 570 outlander and it absolutely rips. The only time I’ve ever thought more power would be nice is at the sand dunes. The clutching is so spot on it just flys. Pops wheelies with ease, just as fast or faster than any of the Japan 750s. If I get another quad instead of side x side I will probably go bigger, cause why not!
Watched several of your videos on polaris and can am. I wanted a two up for me and my daughter. We just purchased the 650 max xt Camo this week. Very impressed so far
I just picked up a 2020 650 max and it has plenty of jam. Love the longer wheelbase for the hills and overall ride. Going to be a awesome hunting machine
My wife and I have owned a number of can-am outlanders. Including a few 1000cc a 800 cc and a 650cc. Without a doubt the 650 cc was the best handeling and well balanced. There were plenty of situations where the power delivery was just about perfect with the 650. The others could just be abrupt and less controllable in the technical mountain riding that we do. The power of the 650 cc was very satisfying and more than capable for towing a trailer hunting or working.
Having spent time on the full Can am line up as well as many of the competitors big bore bikes I agree with the guys 100%. If I had the choice of any ATV I wanted this would be it other than I would get the Outlander Max 650 XT in black! It is simply awesome at everything it does and the Max Chassis allows you to bring a friend or carry extra gear - something that isn’t an option with a couple brands. For technical riding the throttle response is perfect working your way through the rocks and then t has plenty of power to chuck mud when your in the deep stuff. One thing that wasn’t mentioned is resale. The mid class bikes hold their value and I believe have a broader appeal in the used market. It’s an easier sell to the better half if you are buying a bike that can do it all - work on the farm, trail ride, plot snow or take family and friends out for a ride. This machine just does it all!
My buddy has an outty 650xt, and I have the 850xt. We both have itp mega mayhems 1" inch larger than factory. When we go on long atv trail rides, we're loaded down with gear. And I will be the first to tell you thats where the power makes a HUGE difference. And I paid 600 more. Not to say the 650 is bad, or slow by any means. But loaded down, I pull away with ease.
On Point review! Coming from a pro, that's a serious reality check on how much power the average rider really needs ! I'd love to see a segment on assembly quality and reliability of the big bore atv's . Its something alot of us struggle with when making the move from proven lower hp rides coming from yam, suzuki etc.. to high power machines from polaris or can am . It's a mess online , ppl compare high power machine to old tech singles. Not an apples to apples comparison. Keep up the great work
I have owned 5 can ams . 2) 2003 400s 1) 2015 1k 1) 2016. 650 max xt. And 1) 2017 650 max xt . The Rotax is by far my favorite power plant , no matter what size and configuration. Buuuuuut , the sticky shifter , molar rattling howl , and unpredictable steering problem keeps my wallet closed . I will say that can am has the best made to fit accessories in the biz . A very relaxing driver feel , good suspension and great dealer support. My opinion is that the can am short falls are easy fixes at the engineering level and can not be hidden like a hunter in the woods by camo print .
I like that you mentioned insurance. I had a 2015 renegade 1000 xxc couldn't hardly find anyone to insure it. Some companies claimed they would not because the CC's exceeded the shipping weight.
The only restrictions could be performance modifications that would call into question the safety of the vehicle or the applicant's actual insurance track record. Outside of that, most offroad vehicles are insurable. Now, that's me talking from Canada on the advice received from a Canadian Insurance broker. Could be different outside this country.
I am buying the 2020 650 Mossy Oak next week. My 2005 Outlander 400 will be the wife's ride. Can't wait to get my thumb on the trigger. I was surprised by the comment about other manufacturer's HP ratings on larger engines as compared to the Rotax 650. A buddy has the 700 Grizzly and if the comment is accurate I'll have quite a bit more HP with the Rotax 650 than he has with the 700. Interesting.
Thank You for the excellent review. I am currently looking at several CanAm products including the 650 Outlander (alas, cann't find one in Mossy Oak), 850 and 1000. Im also comparing it to Polaris products. Although my heart is set on CanAm. You may have just sold a product for CanAm. Cheers and Happy Riding.
A good friend of mine bought this exact machine after his Honda Rincon 680 finally died after he put about 25,000 km on it. He told me on a few occasions he wished he switched to the Cam Am years ago. He said it was much more stable and a lot more powerful even though the Rincon had a larger motor. He likes to ride fast so the Can Am is much more suited to his driving style.
@@hunterharrell7491 I bought my first Can Am in 2016, a new Commander 1000 XT. The odometer rolled over 10000K last week. I had a few small issues when new that were covered under warranty and other than that any other issues were self inflicted. I put over 5000K on the first belt and I have it for a spare because it was in such good shape. I have the same amount on the second belt now and I'm gonna run it as long as I can. I can honestly say it's been a fantastic machine for me. I drive it hard too.
@@utahwanderlust700 The Rincon engine is a 675cc engine and it puts out 38 hp vs 62 hp in the Can Am. The Rincon is very old and outdated though. Honda really needs to update it and put a twin cylinder engine in it with an 850 or 1000.
Thank you for reviewing! I hunt; and have been curious about this bike for a long, long time (I have never seen..but have been looking for a review of this specific bike for over 2 years). I LOVE that it comes with the metal skid plates (standard). I am looking for a bike that can do well in rocky hills/mountain areas of California High Desert and Mountains. Camo is very important. Have not owned a quad yet (only rented and borrowed), but am trying to decide between between this bike......and a Camo 650 Max XT. Only reason for considering the Max is I think I may do a little better with the the longer wheel base due to the amount of off camber riding that I will do...but 650 Max does not come with skid plates nor with heated grips, etc......and I would have to spend another $800.00 just for the skid plates. ......And thus 650 Mossy Oak will probably be the winner. Thanks again for reviewing, this video was just what I was looking for.
Right on! I feel like this is a good problem you're having. I love this ATV and I love the Max editions as well. Go sit on both, weigh your options and pull the trigger with confidence.
What a killer intro!!! Definitely an under appreciated machine! I think Luke's come to Jesus realization on number of CCs is right on point... Great contribution to the ride on segment right here!
I can have a great time on any machine regardless of power. A harsh ride on choppy trails is what'll ruin your day. Ride comfort is more important to me than power. Hard to enjoy power if the suspension, frame and tires struggle to absorb trail chatter and bounce you all over the place. Luckily most new quads have plenty of both.
There is only like a $500 MSRP difference between the 850 XT and the 650 XT. I agree that the 650 is a great motor but CAN AM doesn’t do the 650 any favors when it comes to the pricing strategy. A side note, the 850 XT-P is the damn near perfect all around quad.
Great review as always ! Totally agree that the 650 would be plenty for most riders ! Even on my almost 20 yr old Griz 660 and Arctic Cat 650 V2 I’ve never felt under powered , not riding trails here in New England anyway . Matt F
Great platform and package. I think if Can-Am where to package together all of those upgrades, (minus the camo pattern for those who turn away from the sale because they don't like the look of camo) and call it the "adventure package" THEN, i really think they can bring in additional sales.
I actually picked up a holdover 2019 can am outlander 1000 mossy oak edition a few weeks ago. I was originally calling about a 2020 outlander 850 xt but the dealer gave me a heck of a deal on the holdover model so I went with it. I was not crazy about the camo but all of the other included features (winch, aluminum skid plates, hand warmers) really helped to sell me on it. I guess I couldn’t resist getting the 1000 engine as well. It’s overkill for essentially every trail I ride but it’s fun. That being said, I would definitely look at getting a 650 in the future in addition to the 1000. It would be cool if the 650 got the electronic throttle and modes like the bigger can am engines.
I can keep up with all the guys on 1000r all day with my 2021 Canam Outlander 650 xmr. No problem at all in any situation yet. Those 1000r are huge. And most people can't handle them properly anyway. I ordered the Outlander xt-p 850 last week. So we will see how it compares to the 650.! February is pickup date right now. Hope it works out on time.
The other thing I would like to know as all the big bore guys I ride with suffer from... Fuel range. I bet the 650 has the same tank but can get much further on a tank(compared to 850/1000).on day rides my old RZR 800 will burn up to half a tank compared to other machine with twice the HP flicking low fuel lights ending our day!
Hang in there ! Just saying I for one love my bike . The 850 Max-XT 2020 in camo . Show’s less scratching in this pattern , I can carry more gear , and when my better half wants to go with me I don’t even know she there . And when I’m by my self this long breast can be easyly the best machine to relax on after finding some of my favorite spots . 6’2” and comfortable enough to catch some zzzs on . Not knocking the 650 or the 1000 . But to me the 850 Max-Xt saddles me with everything . And than some .
I've got a 2020 Outlander 650 xt and I love it, came from a 17 yamaha grizzly 700. The power is just enough for what I want, rides better then the grizzly and the gas consumption is better then the grizzly, I've went up one size in tires to 27" and it looks great with the set up I've got on it now
Excellent video as always! That 650 is a monster, & I couldn’t agree more, you really don’t NEED a 1000, but I’m extremely ecstatic I got one. 😂. I’d be more than content with a 650 though. Great job, guys.
Dirt Trax TV Yes sir! I do love everything about the 1000. I have 2 of them. The 2012 has 7,900 miles on it already. It’s still a rocket & amazingly it never has any issues. The 2020 is just a grumpy beast in sport mode. Amazing machines that never fail to give me a ear to ear grin every time we ride.
Dirt Trax TV Hey, if I may ask? Will Dirt Trax ever be doing a review video on the Can Am Renegade 1000 XMR? I’ve never seen you guys do a review on that model yet.
Nice machine. Anything over 400cc should have multiple cylinders (talkin to you, Yamaha) Can Am needs to step up the front axles. Need 2WD, Visco Loc and full lock. Suzuki? Do they still make ATV's?
@@MattSmith-vl8zp a single will be slightly lighter but it will be without a power band. Ever ride a Yamaha Banshee? There's real reasons why engines have multiple cylinders.
@@TheBandit7613 I have a grizzly. While down in power its light and nimble. The gyroscope effect of the extra cylinder and weight would make it move completely differently.
@@MattSmith-vl8zp Yamaha is fully capable of making a nice torquey V-twin. Instead, they are sticking with the same outdated 45 hp 686 tired single. A single piston moving up and down does nothing to enhance the "gyoscopic" effect. Yamaha is just being cheap, just getting by. People here (desert southwest) have stopped buying Yamaha quads and SxS's. We almost never see them. Trails are hundreds of miles long, and mountains are everywhere. Why is the head of Yamaha allowing this to happen? Same as Suzuki. Suzuki is almost dead. The 686 might be OK for the flat midwest or east coast, but not here. At high elevations where the air is thin, that 45 hp is probably down to 39 or 40. Combine that with steep uphill trails for 20 miles straight and it becomes not so fun. Horsepower is not just to show off. On high mountain trails that are steep, it's a necessity.
I have a question, I purchased a 650 can am 2021 touring, I'm trying to understand the features that comes with it, like the DPS modes, low, medium, and max, do I need a different key, to apply the other modes that I think maybe have, like sports, work , and normal, I'm not sure if all 650 models comes with all this features, can you please help.me on this, I love your video.
That's a good question. Not sure if you're having trouble applying the different DPS modes? Pretty sure you push and hold the button until the min med and max settings apply. Our community is pretty awesome and I'm sure someone on here will be able to answer your question if I haven't. Please clarify and we'll see if we can get you the information you're looking for.
You forgot the front sway bar! Just took mine out and put 118 miles on. Burned about a gallon per hour or 90 miles and used 4 gallons. Got to the gas station as the gas light came on. Too close!
It might be good, but being an English Canadian who 'despises' Quebec, I could not justify purchasing anything that comes out of that place, I'll purchase my next fourwheeler from the US or Japan.
How does the power compare to the brute force 750? I love the bottom end torque of the 750 vtwin and was curious if this felt equally as snappy on the bottle end, mid and top. I'm seriously considering buying one because of this review
haven't had a BF to compare in a few seasons, but I can speak to this ATV and it is impressive. Rides and handles really nice and I felt like the power was strong. I'd be very tempted to move up to the 850 or 1000 but 62 horsepower is really decent and very trailable. I feel like you could buy this ATV very confidently.
@@dirttraxtv i really appreciate the response, thank you so much. Yeah I'm definitely tempted on the 850, but they're heavier so I guess there's always a tradeoff haha
Great vid! How about a video comparing 570 with and without power steering. Wife wants the red 570 but I’m not sure how it drives/handles without power steering. Keep em coming!
I'm a big fan of power steering. Some people say it isn't necessary, which in reality it isn't BUT it rides and handles so nice with it and once you try an ATV equipped with EPS, you'll never go back. If you're a technical rider or ride rough terrain, you'll really appreciate the power steering.
I have 2017 570 with no power steering. I would say depends on your target riding whether you'll want it or not. If tons of open trail and moderate to high speeds its not needed. If lots of low speed, technical, rocks, or mix thereof you might want the EPS. I don't regret not opting for it - but steering effort can be quite high at low speeds. The 570 is a very smooth motor that is soft on torque on the bottom end and pulls pretty hard up top.
Yes, I had the DPS at all settings on my ride. Started out at minimum and as the trail got rougher and more technical I bumped it up. Love the tri-mode DPS. Hard to say which is "better". Can-Am definitely has much more power. Depends on what kind of riding you're doing.
@@stephencostello1483 it is a Rox Riser. Had to get every inch of slack in the lines to not get binding issues. I would not recommend anything higher than 2inches, or you will end-up with line length issues. 2" is possible, but it is tight. The longest part was not installing the riser, but getting access to the lines to try and pick up any slack.
Is their a big difference in speed between the outlander 650 and 570? Like i notice its a big difference in horsepower but does the 570 feel almost as fast as the 650?
The main center skid plate is really fun to remove the two front bolts have nuts that you can't get a wrench on. All the maintenance is horrible. 16 grease fittings really .
I'm also have this question, temperature in the engine in my 650, do fluctuations between 199 to 210F. My left side down below from the seat, I feel a lot a heat sometimes, also on the right side, down by where the oil filter goes same thing, it's that normal on can am models? I ask you because I own also a 850 polaris and I don't get that much heat, on the DPS modes, it should be the driving more pleasant, but I feel stiffness on mine , even when I have DPS MAX. it's should be smooth 😎 correct? Please help me out how to understand all this, and 😊thanks
Nice edited video Dirt Trax TV! I´m actually atm selling my KTM 690 Enduro R and making room for an ATV instead, I´m thinking more fun and utility for the whole family and not just me ;) So I´ve ordered a Can-Am Outlander 650 XT Max 2020 and got the specifications paper that says 59 HP and not 62. Do you have any idea of that? Also I´m wondering from your experience on Dirt Trax how the MAX-versions extra 15 cm compared to normal version does to the riding experience on hard surfaces in higher speeds? Greetings from Sweden, Dalarna
I purchased the new #2021 #xmr #650 and I love it. I have the 2019 outlander 450 already. Both purchased new. I will say that the 650 is definitely a step up in all ways. Won't feel right to a heavier guy over 2025 lbs but anyone under that weight will love the power and torque with handling capabilities. Can't go wrong with the Canam Outlander series of Atv. They are solid. 3 year warranty (Paid) not free.! But they are the top 🔝 when speaking about overall sport feel and ride. So if you are in the market for a midrange Atv, the 650 in all trims, produces what you want and need at a decent price. Anyone over 225 lbs I'd recommend the 850 simply because of the weight of the rider and power of engine. ☑️🆗🏁
This is a current test. The XT, XTP and XXC all come with Terracross tires. This model comes with Carlisle ACT HD tires. I wish this model had Terracross tires. First thing I'd put on it.
I’ve have owned MAX 650XT for three years now. Trust me, it has ALL the power you will ever need in a way more reliable package than bigger machines. I’ve yet to have a single mechanical issue since I bought it. Also, Mossy Oak is an awesome Color scheme because they are not a shiny type of plastics that one coloured machines have. Too bad Can Am dropped the 650 engine at this point though.
@@den310 very little actually, 2500km since new. I ripped the axle boots twice on the same axle but thats because I was in too much of a hurry to get riding and didn't install my axle protectors.
Hey Dirt Trax, I'm thinking of either a new 2020 Griz or and Outlander 650 I currently have a 14 Grizzly (So far all my Yamahas have been bullet proof, but i wouldn't mind a few more ponies) Which one has the better handling and or comfort and which one would you buy? And are there any issues with the Can-Am's ?
My 570 has grenaded 2 diffs on 28in mudzillas and love to shred belts and the 650 and 850 use the exact same driveline as the 570 so it’s gonna be harder on the already fragile diffs and the front “locker” is a bad limited slip at best and a axle breaker at worst with how abruptly it ingages
@@michealgray533 Then Grizzly it is than.... I've had 1 issue in 20 years (power steering on a 9 month old machine) and Yamaha covered it out of warranty... their reason was "That should never go bad so we'll cover the parts and labor" I prefer a problem free experience.
Great video (as always). Very good review on a great machine! All that HP (even on the 650) is fun, but not always and added benefit on my favorite trails. The avg. speed on some of my favorite trails is around 20mpg (or less) with lots of rocky terrain, twists & turns, off camber situations, steep climbs, mountains, etc... It's my favorite style of riding through rough and rocky terrain surrounded by beautiful forests. Nothing beats the handling, agility, maneuverability, and stability offered by my Honda Rubicon (only around 30 HP). I'd compare my Rubicon to a sure footed mountain goat, this 650 Outlander to a work horse, and the 850 and up Outlander as powerful thorougbreds. As I've ridden with higher HP machines, it's clear, that for the vast majority of our favorite riding conditions, that extra HP just isn't that useful. I'd take my smaller, lighter, sure footed mountain goat any day of the week. That said, I respect those that want to open up that throttle on wide logging roads, gravel roads, or highways so they can capture that high HP feeling of these big bores. It's fun, I get it... but it doesn't beat the feeling of traversing tight rocky trails (in my opinion).
Great comments! I'm getting into ATV'ing what with my Dad having a CFMOTO CForce 600, and we just got his friends old 1992 Yamaha 350cc Big Bear running after sitting for about three years with a broken intake manifold and gummed up carburetor. We live in an area with extensive logging roads, some OHV parks, miscellaneous trails, no mud bog riding, and likely will not or rarely be in sand dunes. A Can Am Outlander Max is at the top of my shopping list and was wondering about engine sizes. Your insights provided good input. I.e. I see myself exceeding 40 mph only infrequently, with lots of riding speeds more in the 10-20 mph range. As such, the 850cc & 1000cc engine sizes are just not necessary. I imagine the 550cc model would be adequate but do like extra margin for those long uphill pulls with some speed. Anyway, good stuff and good input that I appreciate.
I love mine the olny thing that sucks is it wont wheelie and the wheel bearing is making a horrible squeaking sound. Other than that i love the machine it makes alot of low end torque.
This is a pretty hard machine to beat. I’m shopping for another quad but no one has inventory for a test ride, so I’m doing as much research as I can. I really wanted a 21 650 XMR but I hear they ride rough and not much suspension travel. I hit more rock and sand than mud anyways. So I narrowed it down to the outlander XT or this Mossy Oak. Just not sure if I want the 650 or 850. Anyone ever compare the 650 to 850 back to back?
Ok. I was just wondering if the 650 had longer range than the 850. Sometimes we will be reaching our next stop on fumes when on our sleds. If I try these trails on quads I may need to carry an extra can.
Mileage numbers are really irrelevant because you are going to get different results by different riders just for the fact everybody's riding style is different. Some are on the gas kicking ass and others are just slow, going with the flow.
I agree on how different riders will get different results. But the same rider on the different quads might get more mileage with a smaller displacement because it uses less fuel. Or they might get less mileage because they are reving it higher than a larger displacement. I'm currently shopping for an atv and this Can am is looking like a good choice. I'm also looking at the 800 for all around riding. Trails, sand dunes, some mud... I'm not a novice having owned sport quads, sleds and dirt bikes my whole life. But I'm getting older in my mid 40s. Would I be better off saving money with a 650, or will I be looking for MoPower?
I have a 60 inch plow on mine and it moves snow like a truck... Insane what it can push. Never gets stuck either Coming off a 420 Honda with the same plow on it... Its just crazy the difference
Polaris does not have a 650 in its offroad lineup. They company just released a 650 2-stroke snowmobile engine for 2021, but not a 4-stroke and not in offroad.
@@dirttraxtv thank for the information. Is there anything remotely similar in comparison from other manufacturers? I know you mentioned yamaha. I'm just wondering what all the options are for the price point and similarities in engines. It's been years since I've owned a 4wheeler and I'm retiring soon.
The 650 is about 62 horsepower and the Grizzly 700 single and Suzuki (and even the Brute force) tap out in the 570 class power in the high 40's, close to 50. I think the 650 is pretty unique in the market actually.

They both use the same engine, just geared differently. Can you direct me towards the published numbers? The North American manufacturers proudly post their HP numbers but I haven't seen any official HP numbers from Yamaha.
I love that you don't just show the very top of the line rigs!

A great ATV. Hope you enjoy!!
350fourtrax has enough power for me to have a lot of fun 👌
I just picked up a 2020 650 max and it has plenty of jam. Love the longer wheelbase for the hills and overall ride. Going to be a awesome hunting machine
Just purchased one myself
Me too a 2022 outlander max xt in camo
My wife and I have owned a number of can-am outlanders. Including a few 1000cc a 800 cc and a 650cc. Without a doubt the 650 cc was the best handeling and well balanced. There were plenty of situations where the power delivery was just about perfect with the 650. The others could just be abrupt and less controllable in the technical mountain riding that we do. The power of the 650 cc was very satisfying and more than capable for towing a trailer hunting or working.
Thanks for commenting from your experience!!
Nice to see 650 rewiew. i bought it in 2017, and i like it....
Love the XT and wish this one had Terracross tires on it, but appreciate the heated grips on this model.
Love it...Great to here all the good news on a bike you've ordered...Can't wait to get it...Good video as usual...
That's not a lot of extra cash TBH.
But either way, keep doin what you guys are doin!!! Love your videos! Best ATV/sled review episodes on the internet out there!
Thank you!!
It was this video that had me convinced to buy my 650 I couldn’t ask for a better family friendly wheeler but still wild when you want it to rip
Keep up the great work
Man that intro riding was SAVAGE!
Glad you like!
@@dirttraxtv was that luke driving?
Yes.
I totally agree with you! My YXZ is low on HP compared to the big Can Ams...but is so much more fun to drive!
I pick mine up Monday so excited 😊
I have owned 5 can ams .
2) 2003 400s 1) 2015 1k
1) 2016. 650 max xt. And
1) 2017 650 max xt .
Great video, just ordered a 2022 650 mossy. Now just to wait 6 months for it to arrive.
Just got my 2022 outlander max xt in mossy oak break up country ..it only took 9 months to get!!
I'd put the 700 Grizzly on par with the Outlander 570. That puts your 650 at about 14 more HP, which is significant enough to notice.
Dude I’m getting this tomorrow I knew it was badass when I seen it 😍 perfect for hunting
I see a lot of guys jumping from Honda to Can-Am.
From what I've seen Can Am's Rotax engines are just as reliable as Hondas but the rest of the machine isn't
Own the red/black ‘20 650 XT Max. Beautiful machine with plenty of juice! Excellent video on something other than the big bikes. Thanks!
Thanks!!!
Matt F
Right on!
Great platform and package.
I think if Can-Am where to package together all of those upgrades, (minus the camo pattern for those who turn away from the sale because they don't like the look of camo) and call it the "adventure package" THEN, i really think they can bring in additional sales.
I like the "Adventure Package" idea.
Oh I really like the camo!
I wish I had one.Instead I’m stuck with a 212cc mini Atv that I made and it’s really fast and fun to ride. One day I’ll get a bigger Atv
My dream ride wanna own one before I die but...its seems almost impossible for me to do it
But love the video
I've got a 2020 Outlander 650 xt and I love it, came from a 17 yamaha grizzly 700. The power is just enough for what I want, rides better then the grizzly and the gas consumption is better then the grizzly, I've went up one size in tires to 27" and it looks great with the set up I've got on it now
That's awesome!
Yup, 27's are the way to go on these 650's.
I've got 27" interco swamp lites on 14" HD 3 rims on it now, if I could post a picture of it I would lol
Hey would you recommend 27 itp xtr,s on the factory rims that come on the 2022 outlander max xt??
Was not able to hear the horsepower due to back ground noise. What was the horsepower?
62 horsepower.
VoiceOver vs music and engine sound mixing wasnt really as good as the rest of the video.
@@dirttraxtv Thank you
Excellent video as always! That 650 is a monster, & I couldn’t agree more, you really don’t NEED a 1000, but I’m extremely ecstatic I got one. 😂. I’d be more than content with a 650 though. Great job, guys.
Right on! Bet you're loving that 1000 power!!
That's a fleet right there!!
Dirt Trax TV Hey, if I may ask? Will Dirt Trax ever be doing a review video on the Can Am Renegade 1000 XMR? I’ve never seen you guys do a review on that model yet.
Really want to get a Renegade on the show. So far haven't had luck getting one. Still trying!!
Nice machine.
Anything over 400cc should have multiple cylinders (talkin to you, Yamaha)
Can Am needs to step up the front axles. Need 2WD, Visco Loc and full lock.
Suzuki? Do they still make ATV's?
the smart lock in the new side by sides works really good, its a real locker finally, hopefully we see it trickle down to everything
Weight...a single cylinder 700 is going to be way lighter than a v twin 650.
Totally agree, ego it's the problem
I'm from Montreal but I'm not french.I think can am was sold to an American company
That intro is sick man!
Thank you!!
The outlander 850 xt is about the same price as this 650 addition but I think this is the one for me.
Hi dirt trax ! What is the difference of a grey key and green key? Or grey and black from the older models
Most atvs don't need power steering but on Can am, I would recommend it because mine doesn't have it and the visco lock fights you the whole time
Again, I don't think a lot of ATVs "need" EPS, but once you've ridden with it, you will definitely appreciate the difference.
What did you end up getting ?
Nice job. U ride like crazy. I own 450 max. Great atv.
Thanks 👍
Can - am outlander power amazing 👍 Great video agan thanks 👍
Thanks 👍
Hi Dirt trax !!!! Do you ride the can am with the dps on ? And what’s better a grizzly 700 or an outlander 1000 xt
Yes, I had the DPS at all settings on my ride. Started out at minimum and as the trail got rougher and more technical I bumped it up. Love the tri-mode DPS. Hard to say which is "better". Can-Am definitely has much more power. Depends on what kind of riding you're doing.
I love my Outlander 650. I am 6' tall and added a 2" riser on the steering. Way better for me when standing up. I recommend the upgrade.
Awesome!!
Franck TheTanck which 2” riser did you add ? And were there any problems with your lines ? Once installed .
In the market for a new ATV and I think this is the one!
Looking at new atvs, question I have is would you go with a new grizzly 700 or a outlander 650/850 xtp?
Do you think they Can Am visco lock four-wheel drive system is as good as Polaris all wheel drive system ?
Is their a big difference in speed between the outlander 650 and 570? Like i notice its a big difference in horsepower but does the 570 feel almost as fast as the 650?
"feeling Fast" is a tough one to measure. There's an HP difference, which you can feel but we haven't drag raced them.
Can Am BabY!!!
Y’all are the best by far
Thank you!!
What kind of mileage do you get? How many miles to a tank full on average?
Nice edited video Dirt Trax TV! I´m actually atm selling my KTM 690 Enduro R and making room for an ATV instead, I´m thinking more fun and utility for the whole family and not just me ;)
So I´ve ordered a Can-Am Outlander 650 XT Max 2020 and got the specifications paper that says 59 HP and not 62. Do you have any idea of that?
Also I´m wondering from your experience on Dirt Trax how the MAX-versions extra 15 cm compared to normal version does to the riding experience on hard surfaces in higher speeds?
Greetings from Sweden, Dalarna
Not sure why it would say that. The website says the 650 is 62 horsepower.
Do you think this is a better setup than the Polaris 570 hunt edition?
Nothing like doing 60 to the deer stand in the morning scaring every animal in a 2 mile radius.
Pin it to win it.

Is that an old test. Don’t the 2020 come with tera cross tires
Too bad Can Am dropped the 650 engine at this point though.
how many kms is on yours?
@@den310 very little actually, 2500km since new. I ripped the axle boots twice on the same axle but thats because I was in too much of a hurry to get riding and didn't install my axle protectors.
you have the best job ever!!!
Hey Dirt Trax, I'm thinking of either a new 2020 Griz or and Outlander 650
I currently have a 14 Grizzly (So far all my Yamahas have been bullet proof, but i wouldn't mind a few more ponies)
Which one has the better handling and or comfort and which one would you buy?
And are there any issues with the Can-Am's ?
My 570 has grenaded 2 diffs on 28in mudzillas and love to shred belts and the 650 and 850 use the exact same driveline as the 570 so it’s gonna be harder on the already fragile diffs and the front “locker” is a bad limited slip at best and a axle breaker at worst with how abruptly it ingages
@@michealgray533 Then Grizzly it is than....
I've had 1 issue in 20 years (power steering on a 9 month old machine) and Yamaha covered it out of warranty... their reason was "That should never go bad so we'll cover the parts and labor"
I prefer a problem free experience.
@@michealgray533 Thanks for your experience and input. I appreciate it.
No problem if you need the power I’d go Polaris but they also have their issues also belt problems but less problematic diffs

Can't make my choice ....outlander XT or max XT ....what do you think?
Are you carrying a passenger or not?
What is your favorite dps level
What does the dps do
Did you say 62hp? I couldnt hearnover the engine sound in the background.
Yes, 62 horsepower.
Does anyone know the song that comes on at 4:39? Sounds good.
How's the gas mileage compared to the 850? 1000?
Hard to say as we don't have all three on site to compare.
Ok. I was just wondering if the 650 had longer range than the 850. Sometimes we will be reaching our next stop on fumes when on our sleds. If I try these trails on quads I may need to carry an extra can.
That makes sense. Maybe someone on here can offer some additional comments from experience.
Mighty fine looking machine.
I wonder how it does plowing snow.?
Thank you for sharing this. Have a great day.
Good question!

It's probably good. I just happen to think..."man, I'd like to see him pushing a whole blade of snow with that".
Have a great day.
Hopefully we can borrow this thing over the winter and test out those hot grips too.
I have a 60 inch plow on mine and it moves snow like a truck... Insane what it can push. Never gets stuck either
Coming off a 420 Honda with the same plow on it... Its just crazy the difference
I bought a 50in poly KFI plow kit for my ‘20 650 XT Max and it plow incredibly. Tons of power! Bought kit online for about $450.
I wonder they will going forward to make 1000cc mossyoak ? & xmr 1000 mossyoak ?
They made a xmr1000 in camo in 2014
Do you have a video of the 650 polaris? If not can you make one and compare please?
@@dirttraxtv thanks, this is probably what I might end up with. More bang for the buck.
Great review👍
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed!! 👍
Love the 650 engine, the rest in it class don’t compare.
Would be awsome if dirt trqx could cover the 2021 can am outlander.max XT 1000. Picking mine up Saturday and have didnthe research since October across the board of what I would be upgrading to. However everyone that is in the market knows since October 2020 selection is very low and delivery times are.months out. I got lucky with mine even though I have to travel 2 hours to the dealer that.had my unit in stock
What model year is this???????????????
I know I've commented before, but torn between this and the grizzly now.
Any chance we get to see a shootout between the Can Am 650 and the Kawasaki Brute Force 750?
We'd absolutely love to do that shootout. We've been trying to get a BF this season, but have been told Kawasaki Canada doesn't have one in their media fleet to lend out. We are continuing to try to get our hands on one. Stay tuned.
They don’t want to be outdone!
You should do a review of the 450 05 570 next
I would love to have both of those on hand and do a comparo of the performance of the 450, 570 and 650 all i none video.
Will you guy’s review the new cfmoto zforce 950?
Hoping to get one soon!
well as normal great video. would like to see same type of test 650 camo 2up like to see if it handles on same level as 650 in this video cant get enough of your videos
Thank you!! The 2-uppers are great ATVs.
The Kodiak has 48 knot the grizzly
They both use the same engine, just geared differently. Can you direct me towards the published numbers? The North American manufacturers proudly post their HP numbers but I haven't seen any official HP numbers from Yamaha.
Wait are you using the green key. does that not limit power, maybe I dont need a 850 lol
