Chiamare Govan e Mancuso "ritmicamente scontatissimi, solo 16mi e 32mi" è davvero totale incompetenza sullo stile e della produziuone di entrambi; se poi vogliamo parlare di fraseggio, fantasia e padronanza armonica, Govan e Mancuso sono forse i più fantasiosi chitarristi rock-fusion mai apparsi nellas toria. Entrambi in grado di incorporare un linguaggio *devastante* per varietà e fantasia, incorporando dal bebop al metal senza soluzione di continuità.
Ancora più incredibile se il paragone è il terzo, che ha un fraseggio stereotipato, legnosissimo, fatto di pattern ma senza manco un centesimo dell'autorità e del fraseggio degli altri due. Un signor nessuno, immagino proprietario del canale, che ha anche un tono tra i peggiori mai sentiti, il chorus sulla distorsione è fuori legge dagli anni '80 :)

I’ve seen transcriptions of both of these. Assuming they are both correct (I didn’t bother personally checking them against the respective solos), then I was floored by Matteo’s solo. Full of so much rhythmic variety in 16th, 32nd, and 64th notes. It’s pretty astonishing.
Sorry but you need to study some more, to get at least at the level of Guthrie and Mancuso….

Theyre both so astonishingly good, im probably biased towards mancuso, having discovered him more recently, when i first heard GG i thought i could listen to him forever, but after probably 10 years, his idiosyncrasies have become very apparent and dont amaze me as much anymore, whereas mansuco seems to play with more rich harmonic content and again im partly biased because i havent listened to matteo enough yet to start hearing overlap
Stimmt was Du schreibst. Matteo hat ein reichhaltigeren harmonischeren Melodien trumpfen kann. Er ist der besser Player! Govan spielt mir sehr abgehackt und stupide, einfach zu simpel und immer wieder die selben Riffs. Das macht Matteos nicht. Der wiederholt sich kaum in seiner Spielweise. Ich könnte dem Kerl stundenlang zuhören und es würde niemals langweilig werden. Ich glaube auch dass er Jazz besser kann als Covan!
Guthrie Govan is the best player I have ever seen in almost 50 years I have seen them all ! an objective comment,Matteo's Teqnique looks very impressive ,but in reality ,Guthrie can play the equal amount of notes with alternate picking or legato,now if you want to see astounding fast fingerstyle picking check out the great Paco de Lucia,At a meeting of the spirits gig he even had the two masters Al Di Meola,and John Mcgloughin gasping as he played two solos at the same time going in different directions !!!

@@tonebrennan8475 Yes,I have heard Oparin in videos,and seen Marchbank live at the kiddeminster gig, Oparin; a very good player with a crap sound,I used to teach 14 yr old kids over 30 yrs ago Paganni's caprices, Jan ackerman was playing stuff better than that with Focus in 1973 mainly live,was much more controled on studio albums,Marchbank,on the other hand is a true master ,I don't like his ulternate picking for me it is too frentic,and nebulious,playing fast for the sake of it, poor definition between notes,if you don't agree with me,listen to the late great Shawn lane,probably the only player i have heard live that can play that fast ,and you still hear definition,on the other hand, Marchbanks legato is excellent but still not as good as holdsworth's The reason I think Gutherie Govan is the best ,is that he is a complete player Great melodies,thinking outside the box,and taking his audience with him ,I am one of the very fortunate few that have spoken to him and viewed him up close,and believe me he can play as fast as Roy Marchbank ! his view on such speed is this; Speed for the sake of speed,is unproductive and dosen't say anything but "Look how big my Dick is !!!!!!!
There's no "obective comment" at all here, it's an opinion and even a bizarre one. The fact that "Guthrie can play the equal amount of notes" for example - nonsensical: apart from the fact that it's not the "number of notes" that makes a guitar player notable, the exceptionalism of Matteo is *precisely* that he can do this fingerstyle, and you mention this as a downside?
Besides - citing Paco de Lucia - other nonsense: Matteo does play fingerstiye, but does NOT play flamenco; literally comparing apples and oranges. Matteo's technique is completely different and has to deal with different problems than classical guitar (f.ex. string muting). And when Di Meola himself is a complete fan of Mancuso, I'd say the case is closed.
@@Cranio76 Okay, This is not nonsensical, years ago before Matteo Mancuso was born,I saw Stanley Jordan live 1989,doing 8 finger tapping,and i like many others were blown away,then one night about three months after that gig,I was listening to his album,and it suddenly struck me ,with the removal of the visual element it didn't seem so mezmorizing,upon listening it was perfect and fluent totally keyboard like, now the point that i made that you dissed as nonsense is this; I had never heard of MM,and when i first heard him i did not know he played fingerstyle !!!! only upon seeing that u tube video did i know; hence my point about GG being able to play the same amount of notes with a pick !!! or legato,Ironically when i first heard him ,I thought what a great player,,,,,,,Yes Paco di Lucia was a flamenco player, but in "The Meeting of The Spirits trio"he played "FUSION"any one old enough like me who saw that spectical live will tell you he at times mirrored ,and played harmony to John Mcgloughlin's Coltrane and miles davis type guitar patterns,;Anyhow the rub is why get upset it's all "Subjective" wouldn't it be a boring world if we liked the same,God almighty aint there enough bad shit going down in this world at the moment I am 66 yrs old I taght the guitar over 30 yrs I played pro from 16 to 40 yrs old,from 2017 - 2022,i was a full time carer issuing Palative care to my parents until they both Died, so what the fuck does it matter who's better than who,,,,

Jan Akkerman, the great Dutch guitarist,also has a “crap sound”;Rather than teach Paganini’s Caprices,I thought it more beneficial to teach pedal point&and arpeggiation techniques and introduce the harmonic minor,Phrygian V,&Diminished soundscape so that students could develop their own sense of melodic/harmonic conception.Shawn was an absolute genius,however,Marchbank plays Shawn more cleanly than the master himself;listen&decide! wow to both guitarist GG & MM... GG is more liken to a hardrock, heavy metal player, while MM is liken to a Jazz Fusion with a Van Halen flavor... Please don't play anymore of these kind, less inclined people tend to see this as a "how many notes can you squeeze in 1 second", now you know why some won't listen to GIANT STEPS by JColtrane, hahaha... others see this as a show of creativity and fluidity at fast tempi. Just the same i was entertained. thank you

An impressive number of tones in an impressively short time. But what does that have to do with music? Sorry, but for me it's all impressively boring.
As a guitarist for 35 years I have gotten away from the whole shredding aspect of the instrument. Been there done that and every 10 year old on RUclips can shred. People can still play fast, but just make it musical. Playing scales as fast as you can isn’t musical. Not taking anything away from Guthrie or Matteo, because they have a lot of great songs where they aren’t giving us a lesson in scales.
@@johnny5494 I have been playing guitar for almost 50 years and I know what I am talking about as well. I have never questioned the technical level of the three guys. But I don't believe in stupid "vs videos" that ask who the most advanced modern guitarist is. In my humble opinion, speed is only a secondary aspect. I just remember David Gilmour's epic guitar solo on the track "Comfortably Numb" on the Pulse album.

Se si parla di utilità alla musica direi però che qui siamo proprio in quell'ambito. Loro sono degnisismmi rappresentanti di quello che è il pensiero musicale occidentale, basato sul virtuosismo. La stragrande maggioranza del repertorio classico ad esempio non sarebbe eseguibile in mancanza di strumentisti e cantanti che studiano come macchine dalla più tenera età. Esistono capolavori compositivi anche di alto livello virtuosistico e altrettante opere che sono delle vaccate. Ma vale anche per la musica cantautoriale o il punk..e pure per il già citato BBKing, indiscutibile caposcuola del blues ma che non a caso viene sempre usato come contraltare della tecnica musicale.
@@andreascotto4638 Tutto condivisibile, tranne che non credo proprio che il pensiero musicale occidentale sia "basato sul virtuosismo". Le capacità tecniche sono un bagaglio a disposizione dell'arte, non viceversa. Tengo anche a chiarire che apprezzo questi tre giovani musicisti, al punto che possiedo una chitarra Revstar proprio come quella di Mancuso, che ho potuto apprezzare ascoltando le sue esecuzioni. Ma... premesso tutto ciò, sono personalmente stanco di tecnicismo, sciorinato in tutte le salse. Certi soli sono soporiferi, pur se a 200 bpm, mentre una sola nota al momento giusto, uscita dal cuore e non da maratone di scale, arpeggi, e via così è cosa ben più preziosa ♥️
@@gianmariacurtoni379 anche io condivido praticamente tutto. Resto abbastanza convinto che siamo, soprattutto in Italia, molto impressionati da chi eccelle in tecnica. Quasi fosse sport (che tra l'altro ha anche altri valori fortunatamente non solo la performance). Ammiriamo chi ha studiato al conservatorio ed è un professore, chi suona musica classica anche se poi confondiamo Mozart con Beethoven. Ci piace un po' il circo 😊.. Almeno così sembra a me.
