It has been a long time since I haven't watched one of your video. I have to say that I was spending too much time watching reviews than actually making sounds. But it's always a pleasure to watch yours. I've been working with the Digitakt and I'm starting to get really instinctif with the Elektron workflow, it is a pure delight. Now I get how you can be so hypnotized by those machines. Keep up the videos and may the force be with you !
wow, I consume most videos with audio only while doing something else, but this one I had to watch again carefully to see how it's done: some really expert usage of OT scenes! Good job!
I love my po-32 and I haven't even got tonic VST yet. Anyone thinking of getting one, do it. I played a show in front of 2000 people with just a po-32.
The thing that makes it such an amazing device is that it can really beef up a solo performance. The steps and programming works great for performance.
@@hern19 brobably connected to an recorder but if your question is how to record your songs, get audacity for your PC and get a line cable and plug it into the po and the microphone input on your computer
Some other musicians are sharing their patches they create for their pocket operator tonic, I love your videos and wondered if you could too, it's always nice to play with other people's sound design, Cheers
6 months later, I still pick it up regularly and make a new pattern, or sequence some existing ones and live-jam with the effects and some sounds. There are actually 2 sounds on each of the 16 places at each end of the parameter change nob and more in between.
It has 2x16 sounds in pairs. When turning the parameter knob, the pair is at each end of the knob, in between it is sort of a “gradual mix” of the two adding more variation to those sounds.
just a question: i would buy the po 20 arcade, i like it for its samples, but then i found all the samples ripped from a po 20 and ready to be imported on the po 32. So my question is: should i buy the po 20? or should i buy the po 32 importing the arcade samples? In this last option i could also import different sounds of other musical styles i like, this is why it sounds goods to me. Which would be the difference from a po 20 arcade and a po 32 with arcade sounds imported? maybe could i lose some features in the second option? thanks!
I saw an interview with the software creator and he said it's using 100% cpu most of the time. (when not in standby mode) This must mean it's the most power hungry PO to date. How long does the battery last?
It works nicely with the volca mixer, I wound up shelving my volca beats, this is better it has swing and even though its virtual analog the dac quality is very high so it sound on par to something like the drum brute in a tiny package. It works perfectly with the master sync on the volca mixer and sounds great mixed with my monlogue and volca keys.
picked this up today waiting for it to arrive :D is their any way to sample the loops into software such as logic other than just recording the audio with a microphone? great video :)
Po 32 or 33? What's the differences? Realistically I'm thinking to integrate a po in my rig, so not just using it as a standalone device to jam and have fun.
I advise you the po 33. The po 32 focuses on editing your voice and the po 33 more on editing Musik, any kind of sounds and instrumentms. So if you wanna make some beats go grab the po 33. By the way you can sample your voice of course in the po 33 too
The octatrack jam is very good! Congrats! The po32 is interesting , and i know the software is god damn good on its own. So the concept is great! I only wish the po cases were cheaper cause like this i know i 'm gonna break it in a way or another.
For clarification (because meantime lots of stuffs released): Today which basic synthesier is a good choice for beginners (beginners in using these instruments and beginners in making music). The Korg Volca serie is really acceptable in price if you must to use two or more PO. Which another can be considered? Maybe a Behringer Crave or TD-3. Or nanoloop? Something else...?!? Thanks for any info, it is really hard to decide! :)
Thanks mate. The jam I did on the end was like 15-20 minutes noodling on the PO-32, recording 5 x 64 step loops (variations of the same pattern) into the Octa, building the song and so on say 45 min. So around an hour I think.
if i make a song with a pocket operator i really want to also sample you saying "pocket operator" as there's something so aesthetically pleasing about it
I have the PO-12 Rhythm, the PO-16 Factory, and the PO-35 Voice. The Voice is a little more expensive but uses the base mode samples from the Tonic. Plus it has built-in vocoder effects. If you don’t need that, then get the Tonic. But if money is a concern, get the Rhythm.
What sense does it make to transfer sounds from the software to the PO32 and the use them on the Octatrack ? You could have sampled the sounds directly from the software to the octatrack. Nothing beats the PO-12 anyway imho :)
never used one but it seams like my volca sample / an insufficient looking little box that might be the coolest, livest, dopest, thing i got / never fire-up the Rig without it / had to go tell popz '' Amazing what the can do with plastic and wire''. If this makes you feel like i did the PO-32 is going on THE LIST
hey Bo which PO is recommended to use such an inspiration for genres as deep house, house, techno, progressive, anything similar to those genres, is there any??
Can someone please explain the difference between them to me? Someone said the rick and morty one is like 3 dofferent ones put together but idk. All i really care about is recording my own sounds with built in mic/aux in and onboard speaker. Any extras are good too but which should i get?
Is the audio-quality of the PO-tonic good enough for club performance etc. without using audio-processing? :) nice review :) but now I need a cup of coffee too :D
+fatcat hm, I have not tried it but the quality should be good enough. Perhaps you need to put it into a mixer and eq a little so you dont accidentally blow a speaker
Thank you. Just ordered my PO-32. Travelling for 5 hours on friday and on sunday and hope it'll arrive in time. BTW, very good overview and you are a pretty sympatic person!
Thank you! I have one more question: Does the PO-32 come with the software to edit the sounds or do you have to buy it seperately? How much does it cost?

Thanks for featuring this. I think this is the PO I'll finally pick up. Also, love the jam at the end!
Thanks mate! Glad you dig it
And here you are again reviewing something that's useful for me. I have now subscribed.
wow, I consume most videos with audio only while doing something else, but this one I had to watch again carefully to see how it's done: some really expert usage of OT scenes! Good job!
Thanks mate! :) I am back on track. Soon Digitakt time
I love my po-32 and I haven't even got tonic VST yet. Anyone thinking of getting one, do it. I played a show in front of 2000 people with just a po-32.
Real nice mate! Did the show go well?
Still waiting on that reply man.
Tick tock...
Come on Lee
ffs Lee it has been a year now
The thing that makes it such an amazing device is that it can really beef up a solo performance. The steps and programming works great for performance.
I've just put a deposit down for an OP-1. These things look like nice editions to the family
Man sick work with that octatrack!
Glad you dig it. I will try to make a video on it =)
seriously! smooth
New series: PoBeats

PO-69 Clambake
PO-99 Chaos
Chris l PO-00 Stinkfist.
PO-69 Rainbow Head
IMO I like the po-20 better. It has more melodic capabilities in addition to having already interesting drums.
Yeah! I love my PO-20. And yes as a standalone device I like it better. But as part of a rig I prefer the 32
BoBeats that makes sense. I'd disagree because of the drone feature, but I just realized you can't figure out the chords to them.
Uncle Squiddz guys just link them together. they are ment to sing together. im getting both
It's different. Having a small drum machine that can modify and sample sounds is great, but yes, po-20 is great, specially as a standalone
PO-32 or PO-12?

It has 2x16 sounds in pairs. When turning the parameter knob, the pair is at each end of the knob, in between it is sort of a “gradual mix” of the two adding more variation to those sounds.
The box makes it superior!
YES! Zelda vibes!
I agree that tonic is genius design. I tend to use the po16 factory more for the different synths sounds.

That beat with the Octatrack was so dope. It was very inspiring!
Your videos are really well done and I enjoyed the track at the end - I wanna get one of these PO machines soon lol

Wow that octatrack jam was really gorgeous, would love to hear you expand on it more!
Thanks mate! I probably will, I thought it turned out nicely
great review, great tracks, as always :-)
Dope Beats Bo!
picked this up today waiting for it to arrive :D is their any way to sample the loops into software such as logic other than just recording the audio with a microphone? great video :)
Do you think i could make a backing track for guitar with this?
No doubt
You can take samples with the line in as well you know so with a phone and the right wire you could take new samples on the go
dave matthews you can only on the 33 Knockout not the tonic
Po 32 or 33? What's the differences? Realistically I'm thinking to integrate a po in my rig, so not just using it as a standalone device to jam and have fun.

Probably still the Korg Minilogue (or even Monologue).
I have the Arcade and ordered the tonic today :)
Is the arcade any good?
I am looking for a po and the arcade seemed good. Do you recommend it?
I have all of them but tonic, Arcade is limited but the chords are fab, its,one of my favs
The screen reminds me of a Game & Watch.
hey profile picture brother
yo that jam was sick
Looking at the screen animation there’s one phrase that springs to mind: ”FADER ABRAHAM”. ;)
Sjukt bra octatrack-jam. Love it!
+Synthesizer Wiggler 303 tack!!
Really great sound and variations. Is Microtonic in the package inside? If not, is there a way to change or modulate the sounds by my own?
+Maudio u need to buy the software to really make new sounds but you can ofc modulate them a little using the two knobs
WOW that does make great sounds ... and that jam was quite tasty!! if I may ask how much time did you have in that jam? (creation time?)
Thanks mate. The jam I did on the end was like 15-20 minutes noodling on the PO-32, recording 5 x 64 step loops (variations of the same pattern) into the Octa, building the song and so on say 45 min. So around an hour I think.
if i make a song with a pocket operator i really want to also sample you saying "pocket operator" as there's something so aesthetically pleasing about it
Do you need the software to go with it? (I don’t know very much about production)
No you can use it as is
Mine just arrived today.
What is the best po for someone just starting beat making?
I have the PO-12 Rhythm, the PO-16 Factory, and the PO-35 Voice. The Voice is a little more expensive but uses the base mode samples from the Tonic. Plus it has built-in vocoder effects. If you don’t need that, then get the Tonic. But if money is a concern, get the Rhythm.
What sense does it make to transfer sounds from the software to the PO32 and the use them on the Octatrack ? You could have sampled the sounds directly from the software to the octatrack. Nothing beats the PO-12 anyway imho :)
You don't bypass that beautiful DAC in the PO. That's blasphemous.
I'm looking into the theory of having an Octatrack MkII as a mixer? anyone down with that info?
Have you tried po-35 speak?
No, but I have them coming
do you prefer the pocket operators or korg volca series?
POs all the way! Love them so much
Linus Minus volca is way better. but they don't have 8 bit chiptune synth
Linus Minus why not both? Po-12 plus a Korg Volca Fm is very nice.
Very Aphexy sounding :-) Thumbs up
those things look great... but they look so delicate. seems like might need gentle handling?
Hm, yeah they can't take a beating. But its not super fragile either. Looks more fragile than it is.
never used one but it seams like my volca sample / an insufficient looking little box that might be the coolest, livest, dopest, thing i got / never fire-up the Rig without it / had to go tell popz '' Amazing what the can do with plastic and wire''. If this makes you feel like i did the PO-32 is going on THE LIST
I think the PO-12, PO-20 and the 32 definitely have this feel to them. But the 32 takes it further if you get the software as well
hey Bo which PO is recommended to use such an inspiration for genres as deep house, house, techno, progressive, anything similar to those genres, is there any??
Probably the K.O since you can sample with it
It sounds good, maybe limited, but then what do you expect from something so small I guess. I don't expect this to be my first synth
Naw for first synth I recommend something a bit bigger
Willowdragon I'd reccomend the Korg Volca keys for your first.
I’m planning to buy the PO- 32 this week or next week and since I have the PO-33 for six months I probably will know how to use the PO-32.
I might get drum like sound with delay for retro games music.
Can you use the mic to record anything , or just from the software?
+marc curcio its just for the software
Thanks! Just discovered your channel...great stuff!
Glad you like it!! :)
I'm looking forward to the PO-808. It'll be a few years left, but it'll probably be The Coolest Thing...ever
This is already better than an 808 at being an 808
how do you use the mic?
his voice is way to chill, I cant handle this
do you need to plug it into anything for it to work?
Can someone please explain the difference between them to me? Someone said the rick and morty one is like 3 dofferent ones put together but idk. All i really care about is recording my own sounds with built in mic/aux in and onboard speaker. Any extras are good too but which should i get?
how is this comparing to the po 33?
Thank you man!! Going to get myself one. Now. =D
Is the audio-quality of the PO-tonic good enough for club performance etc. without using audio-processing? :)
nice review :) but now I need a cup of coffee too :D
+fatcat hm, I have not tried it but the quality should be good enough. Perhaps you need to put it into a mixer and eq a little so you dont accidentally blow a speaker
Thank you :)
I’m buying my first ever pocket operator should I get KO or tonic ??
Imho i think ko Is the more complete
Very cool video, but I have a question a bit off the topic....
about your glasses , would you share where you get them from? Thank you! :)
Thanks! I get the glasses question a lot but unfortunately its just a local store and not a known brand :(
The street fighter one is up there
Hi Bobeats, which is the best PO for you ? 12? 32? 20? thnks
+Ari Korrales 32 easy!
thanks
Cuckoo the Elektron genius would agree! What sequencer/controller would let me chain a bunch of these together for a live rig?
+Renaissance Man hm, I am not sure I know of any such tool.
I think the Arturia Beatstep Pro has a lot as well as Electribe but not sure. Probably need a mixer or two to chain these together.
getting the po20 in a couple of days, and I'm planning on getting the tonic soon wish me luck :-)
Wishing luck!
ethnic music,sounds cool,enjoyed !
Cool! Thanks! =)
what do you think this one vs OP-12 ?
I prefer this one
I am guitarist from 8 years I wanna go deep in synths m acoustic beat maker . What should I have for making music while traveling
Is smart phone app enough for you?
Can I just use this with headphones on the go? Quite new to this whole thing.
+LeonDGTV yes you can :-)
Thank you. Just ordered my PO-32. Travelling for 5 hours on friday and on sunday and hope it'll arrive in time. BTW, very good overview and you are a pretty sympatic person!
+LeonDGTV thank you sir and i hope you get some nice grooves going on that travel
Thank you! I have one more question: Does the PO-32 come with the software to edit the sounds or do you have to buy it seperately? How much does it cost?
The software is bought either in a bundle or separatly, its called MicroTonic. I cant say what the price is tho
1:45 lol
Synth-in-a-Jar
"Slap a like on it" I just love the way this sentence sounds, Haha!
do you have acsses to the software included in the 85 cost price
+James Thomas Winn no I didnt get that. I think its amazing value and seen that it works superb but I just didnt feel lile another piece of software
cheers for the reply bo ty mate
Wow Legowelt. koooool. 🖐🏻😁
It was the best at the time, but now the KO reigns supreme.
I always see like 15 or 20 of these used for sale at gc.
IMO the po 33 (K.O.) is better. You can sample with 40 seconds of memory and there's melodic samples and drum samples
Oooh, this might be the drumkit I am looking for.
How much is the software?
I am not sure mate, check Teenage Engineering webpage or MicroTonic
You look like Adam the Alien (the "fedoras are awesome" guy)
Looks like a great synth, but I still think the PO-20 is the best Pocket Operator
989 likes !! 9*8*9 likes ! If only that 8 was a 9 ...
I want to get a pocket operator but I don't know which one (I'll probably use it alone, without linking it)
The PO 33 Knockout, maybe its the 35... but its called Knock Out/KO
PERCEVAL
I thought the po does have midi?
Just sync
You looks like a friendly Christopher Franke
You remind me of Diplo :)
If you take a Legowelt studio tour video, remove the 58029 instances of the word "synthesizer" and ad some melody in the voice = BoBeats
I was wrong. If your remove "synthesizer from a Legowelt video you end up with nothing. ruclips.net/video/P_9_ZDpazd4/видео.html
Cool. It looks so Cyberpunk 2077.
this one or the KO ?
Lol without a doubt! Even Po35 is better than this One looool the answear for his question in no.
Music from Mars.
What up with po-39 Cassette tho 😂
Looks cool but I'm confused by what it is
