Thank you! I’ve been looking for an affordable solution for almost 3 years for my 2016 BMW X3. Bought the part you recommended. Got it from AliExpress for $85. With your instructions, I was able to removed and install new screen in 20 minutes. BMW quoted me $3,800+ to fix. Your video made it look easy and worth taking a chance. Thanks so much!!!
Thank you for this video - my local BMW fraudsters quoted a price to fix the screen at $7,500 -I can’t believe how easy the fix was and how it helped me avoid the thieves at BMW
I'll be doing this soon. It should be a felony for dealerships to charge what they do. UPDATE 12/8/2024: I just replaced my screen today and it went perfectly. Thank you for showing how to do it and the part number. I paid $71 shipped for the item for a new part from Ebay. Thanks again for the info! Also, I should have tried simply reseating the ribbon cables to see if that would have fixed it. Mine displayed various degrees of lines or completely blank at times, apparently/possibly temperature related (the colder, the worse).
This is the most valuable video on RUclips. Thanks so much for saving us $$$$’s. My son and I spent less than 20 minutes beginning to end with the replacement.
Thank you Danny!!! Worked just like you said it would! Ordering was easy and came in less than a week! Dismantling and changing out part was not hard either - followed every step of your video. I found that it helped to have another person help use the plastic tools to take out the vent part so that I could get to the display. Super proud that I was able to do this and save! Husband super impressed! Thank you!
I have a 750i and got into my car and noticed a huge dead spot in the screen. I was thinking about just ordering an used screen and doing what you did. Thanks a lot
I had the exact problem with my screen. But after replacing it, there is a transparent black square in the middle of the screen. Do you have any idea what caused that?
THANK YOU for this video! I just had to do this on my wife's 2016 x3. I found it odd that my old screen said made in China too...lol ..Wonder if it was replaced prior to this one of if this German car is part Chinese?
Hi There. I am curious why the part number in the video, on the back of the screen, is LQ065T9AR02u but in the link it is LQ088K5RZ05. LQ088K5RZ05 seems correct.
Hey thank you for the video can you help me I need the same screen for my 2017 x3 but I don't see the link you left do you mind sending me the link thank you
@dag560 you are so right. My bmw dealership told me well over $2,000, which made me feel discouraged, but thank God I found your video once again. Thank you
Everything worked on mine. However, to be clear, I don't have a back up camera but I don't see why it wouldn't work. It's only replacing the screen and nothing from the computer itself. I didn't see a difference in screens for cars with a back up camera and those without.
@@akutzer2011 I don't have apple car play in mine. I think it would work just fine since its only the display and nothing to do with the computer/sending unit.
Hey danny can you possibly give me a call sometime my mom has a 2017 BMW X3 and when I turn on my moms car the screen either turns black or there are like white lines flickering I can hear the music from the radio in the backround but I can barely see wats going on could it be a fuse for the idrive screen that’s burnt out or is it a screen issue and if so where can I buy a new lcd screen for it?
It sounds exactly like my problem. I assumed the iDrive was still working because all of the systems worked and radio/satellite radio and HUD worked. I somewhat assume it was just the display. The lines across the display told me it was getting power and it was most likely the display driver that went bad, which is built into the display. I got my screen/display here opuradio.com and this is the one I purchased. It should fit your 2017 as well - www.opuradio.com/products/-102
That wasn’t my issue. All of my other items worked, including the radio, there was just no display. Honestly, that sounds like it could be an ECU problem If all of those functions aren’t working however, I would double check your fuses just to make sure nothings been blown, I have had issues where a penny has fallen into the plug adapter between the cupholders and blown fuses within my car.
Thanks this is my daughters car and she said the other day the display flickered then worked fine today nothing works (radio, climate control or display screen trying to figure out what fuses go where is not easy any idea on how to test an ecu or is that a dealer test thanks in advance @@dag560
did you ever get that no signal screen again? Having that no signal screen pretty consistently & starting to think it may not be just a screen replacement😭
I've got it once since the change. I think the Nav/Info CPU on these cars is total crap. What I've had happen more often is the Bluetooth dropping or disconnecting. I'm constantly surprised by how often this car breaks. I'm anal about service and making sure my cars are maintained well. BMW quality just boggles my mind sometimes.
@@lilytruong3500 Yes, its been perfect. If I remember correctly, it was literally the same screen when I pulled the old one. Both were manufactured by SHARP and had the same part numbers on them. Would be great if there was a similar video out there on the F30 8.8" screen replacement if anyone knows?? It comes out of the car (2013 328i) easy enough just like here but to separate from the case requires some extra steps.
The two outer screws that hold the metal backing are purposely sheared off so I had to drill them out! The outer trim is actually between the glass and the LCD display so you have to heat up the adhesive to separate and remove glass. I found a replacement screen on Ali Express for 85.00 with glass so just ordered!!
No programming required. The only thing I did was re-boot the system after I installed it. Which you do by pressing the volume knob on the dash for about 15- 20 seconds. The screen is literally plug and play.
Hey Danny did you have to match the part number? I have a 2016 X3 as well doing the same, and the dealership told me the same.
